Setting up a will and trust is something that when younger we really do not think about much. As it is something, most people just blow off or will tell themselves, “I’ll do that when I get older.” We had been advising and pushing our mother and father for 10+ years to get this very important legal document done. They never did it but upon the death of our father it became even more needed for our mother to have things set up legally so we would not have to deal with probate or anything else the state does that makes it difficult for heirs to control the estate when a parent passes. We were recommended to Sean Hagan by a childhood friend. Unless you work in the legal field or have a lot of free time to read up on elder law, trusts and wills the process can be very overwhelming for an aging parent as it was for ours. Sean took as much time as needed and then some. He answered question after question even when it was asked in five different ways 2 weeks later. He has the patience of a saint and explains things very easily so the everyday non-legal person can understand what exactly is happening. I recommend Sean and his firm without hesitation as this is something that you just do not want to give to any attorney, give it to one that has the expertise and patience to walk you through it.

Not your typical estate planing attorneys. We met with Sean Hagan and found him very personable, willing to meet at a time convenient for us, and most of all, willing to answer all of our questions without all of the legalese that you'd expect. He even offered to come to the house if that's what was needed. He made the whole process comfortable and his passion for his work and his compassion towards his clients is very apparent in how he goes about creating your estate plan. (something that everyone should have but puts off because they don't want to do it.) Sean and his team do excellent work and have provided us the peace of mind that we're covered for the future.

One attorney helped me wrangle complicated real estate affairs five years ago, and three years later in an entirely different case, different attorney, a family member received exceptional care at a time when it was needed. After putting it off for a long time, I’m breathing a sigh of relief at having finally finished and signed my will. I chose Sean Hagan - with Long Hagan Huff-Harris - to represent me. Sean had been highly recommended by a neighbor, and he did not disappoint. We met face-to-face and also spoke on the phone and emailed back and forth many times. The biggest issue for me revolved around how to allocate my assets. I’ve lost count of the number of times I revised my working sheet. Every time I told him, OK, go ahead and draft the papers, this time my decision is final, I’d find myself contacting him within a few days because I had changed my mind. This see-sawing back and forth resulted from the disparity between what I wanted to leave my loved ones and the limited size of my estate. And it took me many months to make what I consider to be the best possible decision. From the very beginning, I was impressed by Sean’s professionalism and depth of knowledge of estate law. At our first meeting, I had a sense of what I wanted to accomplish and therefore posed a wide range of questions to him. He also did a very thorough job of posing as many to me. He wanted to know what I wanted, so he could craft a document that would mirror my wishes while simultaneously being legally sound and airtight. One of the great advantages I had in working with Sean was his familiarity with co-ops. Co-ops are not common in Massachusetts and they therefore pose a number of challenges for lawyers that are very different than, for instance, those posed by condos. Thankfully, he understands co-op structures well, and was able to act accordingly. I’m happy to say that the nearly 200-page document he produced is one with which I am completely satisfied. Likewise, I’m equally satisfied with Sean and his team. His courteous and patient demeanor - coupled with his sage advise - helped me to see my concerns from different perspectives, and at the same time, provided me with the breathing room I needed to work things out for myself. I can’t recommend Sean Hagan highly enough; he is a true professional - knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate. And I think that anyone that chooses him as their attorney, will be very pleased indeed, with the results.
