A ticket I received turned out to be a Class A misdemeanor. Couldn't just pay a fine, had to appear in court. After looking up Class A misdemeanor it appeared more serious than a standard ticket, so I chose to seek legal advice. I called the Baker law firm and Mr Baker himself returned my call. I was set up with a meeting the next day and related what had happened. He felt quite certain he could get the case dismissed, possibly without a court appearance, and if that wasn't possible a short appearance in court and court costs, and the problem would be solved. Within a few hours his secretary called and informed me he had negotiated the dismissal. I did have to appear in court the next day but that went smoothly in less than a half hour. I felt like he and his staff truly cared about my problem. I give the Baker Law firm my highest recommendation.

Updated review. I cannot stress to anybody reading this enough: who you hire matters and you get what you pay for. Attorney’s have case after case slide across their desk. It’s a job at the end of the day to most. If Aaron Shapiro or the force that is Amanda Schaffer takes your case, TRUST THEM. Full disclosure: I am a nightmare client. On a scale from 1-10, I’m an 11 in terms of annoying. My son is my absolute world. I have been a “white pony” more times than you can imagine. Over-billed. None of it made sense. Those attorneys cared about a paycheck. Aaron and Amanda are not only EXCELLENT attorneys, they’re good people. They have a backbone. Their time is valuable. They’re not cheap. Know that. When your child, freedom, or immigration status is on the line — don’t put it in the hands of someone who treats you like a file. The legal progress is exhausting (mentally and financially — I know it all too well.) It’s unfair. Read that again.
No attorney should ever promise you a victory. Here’s what this random stranger who’s been put through the wringer for 3 years can promise you first hand — this firm cares and they’re your best shot.

We hired Kendall VanConas and this firm to update our estate - they initially said they'd print our documents and give return them to us in a day or two - instead they took weeks just to print copies of our estate documents and only gave them back weeks later after we had to prompt them and ask for them.
After that, we had to continually call and send emails to repeatedly ask when we were going to ever hear from them about our estate planning after our initial meeting in May, we were told their assistant went on vacation so they were behind and would try to catch up soon (but still never heard anything from them after that), weeks went by and again we reached out to ask when things would move forward and were told Kendall had surgery and had "gotten behind" on things in her recovery (We were never told she was out for a medical leave prior to that). We had to contact them again on July 1st only to be told they were all out of the office until after July 8th - this firm doesn't do work, they do billing and make excuses, that's about it.
They also refused to give us notes from the one meeting we had with them - for which we were billed $750 and told, the notes from that meeting were "privy for them" not for us so our request for a recap of our own estate planning meeting was refused.
Do not waste your time with this firm, they have NO incentive to move forward with your project or estate planning, they will take you as a client then sit on your estate planning and DO NOTHING, but bill you for any meetings, then drop the ball, and you will never hear from them again, very unprofessional and our experience with them was completely frustrating and a total waste of our time, as well as costly - as we got nothing from our $750 meeting with them, not even an outline or meeting recap of the notes they took from our estate planning meeting.
They also don't communicate at all, and never told us about the lead attorney's surgery or time out from the office for her recovery - and apparently, no one else in the firm does anything. (They take a full week off for July 4th - the entire firm apparently, as no one responded to our July 1 email as they were all "out of the office until after July 8th). After July 8th we still heard NOTHING. Kendall told us she would follow up with a timeline of our estate planning status the following week, but she never did, and that never happened.
When they had an assistant out of the office that also apparently makes all their work come to a screeching halt - all of this is inexcusable, unprofessional and is a poor representation of a firm that is supposed to be on their game helping people update their estate planning.
You will likely pass away before they ever get to updating your estate - we moved on and found a much better firm that actually does work, and would strongly recommend people stay away from this firm if they need something done in a reasonable time and feel communication is important at all, as this firm doesn't communicate, they make excuses when you reach out because if you hire them, you will be the one doing all the planning and reaching out, they do not do anything at all but sit on your estate planning and watch time go by!
From the first meeting in May until we fired them in July for a span of almost 2 months, we had one meeting, they copied our files and then absolutely nothing else ever happened in moving forward with our estate planning - they never gave us a timeline for getting it done, which we asked about for 3 weeks, but they never provided a timeline because they had no plan to do the work or had decided for some reason due to their incompetence and lack of continuity in their own office and within their staff's capability to take years to do an update on our estate planning.
This firm is not doing anything but taking business then sitting on it, doing meetings with clients and refusing to give the clients any notes or minutes from meetings clients are being billed for! There are firms that do effective estate planning, but sadly, this isn't one of them.

We had a great experience working with Satveer Chaudhary on my spouse's visa change of status process from J2 to F1. He was incredibly patient, taking the time to answer all our questions thoroughly and helping us fill out the forms in the best way possible. We could always contact him directly and receive almost immediate responses from him (not an assistant), even after hours and on some weekends! I’m not sure if other lawyers would provide that level of service, especially with no extra charges. We also appreciated how thorough he was, staying in touch not only when the approval letter arrived but also during our trip to India for stamping. We truly appreciate his time and support throughout the process and highly recommend his services.

Several years ago I suffered an unfortunate accident while traversing the streets of NYC. The incident resulted in severe injuries that landed me in a hospital emergency room in excruciating pain and in a cast for several months thereafter, and a plethora of doctors appointments and follow up visits. The accident definitely limited my ability in getting around and had life long effects that I will now have to bare as a result of the negligence imposed by third parties. After consulting several attorneys for help with a sticky tenant situation, Eileen Kendall’s consultation allowed me to finally exhale. The procedure for booking a consultation was easy and professional, payment made in advance, cost very fair. Audrey Anderson did not do what she said she was going to do for me. A total disappointment. She told me one thing before she was paid, then changed her story after she was paid.
She even discussed my case details with a random contractor that came to her home, it turns out the contractor knew me, and I was informed.
Audrey was fired, because for three (3) months, her response to me was," I am unable to reach opposing counsel".

My review is for Dawn Marie White. Is there a zero stars option? You should hire her if you like to be misunderstood, talked down to, and ignored, all while paying her handsomely. Dawn Marie is not competent for the position she is in. She is currently a court appointed parenting coordinator, to help with making timely decisions about parenting that would otherwise go to court. My ex and I pay her the price of a normal lawyer so that we don't clog up the court over something the judge sees as frivolous (A FATHER'S PARENTING TIME IS NOT FRIVOLOUS). That would also take forever and then there'd be no decision due to it being a moot point, water under the bridge. So far I've paid Dawn Marie White $5000 and literally all she's done is tell me what she's not going to do. My $5000 retainer is gone and there are zero court orders or official decisions that came of it. Now she wants me to pay her more and she's ignoring me until I do, I assume.
When we first met, she wanted to meet via video call and then she made us turn our camera on but she left hers off. I should have known she'd be horrible from the first meeting. Since then I've just asked for equity in parenting time for things like dividing school holidays evenly. Currently, we go by the IPTG which does not divide the non-school days fairly between the two parents in my school district. There are administrative leave days and snow make up days that serve as holidays to the children, but those all go to the mother because the IPTG doesn't mention those days. When I asked Dawn Marie to do something about it and give me half the days that the children are out of school, she said she'd make decisions on a case by case basis (code for "I'm piecemealing your billable time so I can charge you more and deplete your retainer faster"). Then when I asked her at the time when the children were going to be out, she said it was too late and that I should have asked earlier. So yeah...buyer beware.
