Getting divorced at best case scenario is a harrowing experience for all parties involved , Choosing an attorney to handle you affairs can be equally as frightening as we have all heard the horror stories. I came across Todd Zimmer through word of mouth from acquaintances whom had previously used his services. So, the first phone call. I was greeted by one of Todd’s associates who set up our first meeting. She was able to accommodate my schedule and arrange a consultation with Todd. The night before my appointment, i received a conformation call confirming my meeting with Todd, That’s where reality started to sink in for me and the prospect of ending a 20 + year marriage became real. The afternoon of the meeting arrived and the feeling of buyers remorse overwhelmed me as i was still on the fence. I walked into the office and was greeted by a soothing well mannered administrative assistant who handed me a questioner to fill out that would give Todd a financial snapshot of my life so that he could review and take a look at my exposure. I couldn’t bring myself to fill it out completely due to my apprehension as to what I was doing. I handed it back and explained my situation, obviously they have dealt with this before as it didn’t seem to concern her as she maintained her courteous professional demeanor . I walked into Todd’s office ready to start hearing the litany of legal jargon and financial exposure that one would expect when ending a long standing union. Quite the opposite, Todd realized that this was a delicate situation and spent the first 15 minutes of our meeting talking about me, getting to know me, my family situation and what led me to his door. He exuded a genuine caring attitude that quite frankly, only comes from a family member or a friend. We spoke for 45 minutes after that as i felt a level of comfortability not easily achieved on a first meeting. I walked out of his office feeling as though I made a friend, without out retaining him as he did not look to push me into something i wasn’t sure on. We left on a handshake and he asked me to think about what I was doing and reach back once i had clarity and felt i was 100% ready. One month later, Im ready and reached back. The challenge I put in front of Todd was, two kids, two properties, several bank accounts and try to end this as amicable as possible. We now went to work. Todd was able to put my case to rest in two main meetings and two drafts of a Stipulation of Settlement. His firm cares about your time and will not waist it with unnecessary billable events. Todd and his firm have a firm grasp on Family Law and negotiating. His office staff and associates are all on the same page when it comes to being their client. Not once did I ever feel alone through the entire process. When questions arose on a Sunday morning, Todd was text away, when issues kept me up at night that i needed to address I would email and receive answers. His office may say 9-5 Mon -Fri , but i can attest, its 24-7 . To sum this up, divorce is uncomfortable, you can feel alone as you traverse this new terrain. Having the right attorney on your side makes the difference.
