I had the dis honors of speaking with a Robin Sparks located at the Islandia office. That had to be rudest, most degrading conversation I have had with what is supposedly a professional lawyer that was recommended based on my current financial situation.I don’t know if this is for people in Lawyer jail or need to prove themselves before they can make actual funds. Possibly the only way a horrible lawyer can keep their license because I can not imagine This woman volunteered to help people with how bossy, pushy and demeaning she speaks as if your to slow and should comprehend the law and know what your doing. If you did you would not need them ☹️ no compassion or understanding for people who are disabled and struggling .I worked for a wonderful law firm for many years and I have never heard anyone at RGLZ speak to any one not the staff, nor clients as if they were dirt, below their shoes. It didn’t matter the background of the person. What matters is your interqrity, and that you try.No less a client in a bad way can be a millionaire tomorrow or know many well off people Robin lol this is sad for you..I hope your day got better or life and for me as I told you I’ll figure something else out as I did. Your apparently not to valued in your own profession.smh

Absolutely USELESS. The legal aid told Me over 5 times That Her name was Kathy Then When I spoke to an office Clerk She told Me That Her Name was actually totally different. I paid $30 to send a fax in which They told Me was blank. So Then I had to mail it expedited and My file sat on Her desk until I called a Day later to remind Her. I felt I was berated during both phone calls. I don’t know Who’s side She was on. It certainly wasn’t mine. What Attorney talks down to a potential client like that? Because It’s “legal aid”? I don’t deserve respect? People come here because They need help and are destitute. No help whatsoever. I would not recommend. Find the money to get a REAL Attorney. These People do not care about You or Your situation.

Experienced, dedicated professionals who listened to my situation and reduced the intensity of my worries and fears as they offered guidance to save my home. Marda is a seasoned attorney who was interested in my situation, reachable, and smart. It's not an overnight process, but there is ongoing communication with my lender, and the difficult time was taken off of my shoulders as the solution progresses. Desiree, Marda's associate, is THE BEST, knowing the right questions to ask as she handles all aspects of saving our home. She's so experienced and wonderful to work with. She is also bi-lingual. I don't know what I would have done without Desiree and Marda.

want to thank Desiree from the Law office of Marda Rosenbaum for getting my house modified. It was a really hard battle with Suntrust Mortgage. She fought very hard and didn't give up. I was convinced to do a shortsale by another attorney and when I met with Desiree for a second opinion she told me not to go through with short sale and try for loan modification and see what the payment could be so I wouldn't lost my home. I'm glad I listened and now I have a great payment and my home is mine. I would definitely recommended this law office to help anyone who is in trouble with there mortgage and prevent foreclosure.

I don't normally write reviews, but I wanted to thank The Law Office Of Marda Rosenbaum for all of their hard work. They saved our home! We can't thank them enough. The staff, Christine, Jan,Desiree, and Marda were all wonderful and great to work with. Christine was particularly amazing! My mortgage company is notoriously difficult to work with. Christine was relentless in following up with the lender and making sure that everything was submitted correctly. It was great to have her on our side! I would highly recommend this firm if you are in danger of losing your house. Like another reviewer said, they are on another level. I would give them 10 stars if I could!

Maria Gasparis was such a dedicated and personal attorney. I was not an easy client to deal with since this was the first sale of my home. She was always patient and kind and guided me through the process and when it came down to the wire she worked overtime making sure things were overnighted permits were cleared. I can’t recommend her enough. I worked with her family who are realtors as well and these three women were miracle workers and I am so eternally grateful. From the bottom of my heart. If you want an attorney who will unconditionally treat you like your their number one client, answer every call and turn night into day.. lol well Maria did that for me. I left there feeling I chose the best and I did. YOURS, THE MEADES

I had the pleasure of working with Jessica on my mother’s estate planning. Her professionalism, knowledge, patience, and unwavering support made the process seamless from start to finish! She was able to explain everything to us in terms that we could easily understand, and she was always accessible to answer any questions we had outside of our meetings. Due to my mother’s declining health, Jessica went above and beyond to ensure that our documents were drafted in record time! She truly took the stress out of our very stressful situation, and for that, I am extremely grateful! I HIGHLY recommend Jessica for your estate planning needs.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Islandia, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
