Lee Greene's is the most experienced and patient litigation attorney that I have met. Patience is a rare quality found in a litigation attorney. However he carefully listened to all of our facts, analyzed the dispute from all angles and successfully dismissed our dispute. Litigation is a very stressful event and his knowledge and experience gave us the confidence during a difficult time. On top of his extensive experience in litigation, his personality and professionalism makes him a great attorney. I would highly recommend Mr. Greene for his services.

Mr. Greene is the most experienced and knowledgeable trial Lawyer I have ever had the opportunity to retain for legal services. He is a Trial Lawyer, Litigator and an A+ negotiator. Lee, as he humorously reminds one to call him is friendly, humorous, and learned. I call him "a trial lawyer's human Library and legal adviser to his peers." The reason is I had an occasion that an Attorney that worked for me relied on Lee's legal counsel and successfully got a foreclosure judgment for real property sale denied in Queens Supreme Court. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Greene's services to anyone seeking the assistance of a REAL Attorney at Law because he is an expert Litigator and qualified in his own right. Most Experienced and Patient Litigation Attorney I have met

Leland Greene is an excellent attorney, and not simply in the areas where he is a listed expert. Mr. Greene has one of the sharpest minds I have ever witnessed, which is the opposite of his tongue. His genuine kindness made it easy to confide in him the things that caused me to seek his help. I would recommend Mr. Greene to anyone. To find a lawyer, or anyone for that matter, who is as sharp and non-judgmental as Mr. Greene is rare, if not impossible to find.

Mr. Green's impressive resume is only part of the story. Yes, A to Z he was the best attorney I have ever worked with. But what the resume misses is how supportive and confidence inspiring he was throughout my long slug fest. He anticipated, explained, and prepared for everything they tried. I knew I could sleep confidently at night and did.

An unfortunate scaffolding accident affected my livelihood drastically. The incident resulted in a broken arm and a minor spinal injury which required immediate medical attention and cost me a great deal of money. However, my employer wasn’t very keen on providing me the compensation that he owed and kept on delaying the things until I took my concern to Stephanie Ovadia. She carefully examined all the details of the case and went out of her way to bring the justice to my case. Not only did she secure the right compensation for me but also helped in getting the loss of wages due to the long recovery period. I am very thankful to her for her help and the compassion that she has is truly remarkable.

I am Jennifer, working in a software company, met with an accident two months back in my company. As per the Law, it is the right of every employee to be compensated by the company, if the accident occurs in the office premises. But, my company refused to compensate me and I was unable to pay the high treatment cost. One of my friends suggested me to contact Stephanie Ovadia for the legal assistance. The legal assistance of Stephanie Ovadia helped me to get adequate compensation. This was seriously a big challenge for me to claim for the compensation from my company. All this has been possible only with the best legal assistance of this reputed legal attorney. I am very happy with the services of Stephanie Ovadia. I suggest all the victims of personal injury to contact Stephanie Ovadia for the legal representation in case you receive any kind of physical damage.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of South Hempstead, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
