Run away from this attorney. I had a long conversation with her. And I am happy she never represented me. Firstly, she is low-qualified. The best advice she gave me was about her hourly rate (and she repeatedly reminded that request for money). Other advises were not valuable. So I am happy such a low qualified person never represented me. Secondly, she violated multiple norms of ethics by yelling on her clients. I am afraid of what will she do in the Court and how can she control herself. Run away from her. Never pay to her - it is not worthy. Read also reviews of other users at Google maps - something is definitely wrong with this attorney.

I hired Greg Owens for my Workerman Comp Case; although he was personable; he didn’t do right by me. The Attorney for the Insurance Company talked him into taking out taxes from my Settlement amount; and it wasn’t until after the fact that I learned that Settlements are Tax- Free. So basically; due to Greg Owen’s lack of knowledge; I lost money I should’ve had in my pocket. When I called him to get a response; he told his assistant to tell me to go and hire a CPA? Thanks Greg! I wouldn’t recommend Greg for anytime of Workerman’s Comp or Unemployment case.

I retained Mr. Owens recently and we are only in the beginning stages of my case. In the few weeks we've been working together he has gone above and beyond to respond to my emails and reach out to me with updates. Being in the legal profession myself, you often do not find an extremely responsive attorney that takes their "off the clock" time to respond and reach out. I'm extremely impressed with his responsiveness and compassion. I definitely felt extremely comfortable moving forward with Mr. Owens and I know he'll work hard to advocate for me as he has already done so. I definitely recommend Mr. Owens as you would not be dissatisfied. Nothing is a guarantee; however knowing your attorney is hard at work for you that in itself is a win.

I can say without a Doubt; if it wasn't for Greg Owens and his Law Partner; Miguel Bouza, I would still be trying to finish my case. I highly recommend Greg Owens; I would use him again without any hesitation. Thank you.

I went to Ms. Weiss at a low point in my life as well. I’ll be the first to admit, my case was messy due to a lapse of judgement on my part, but the fact clearly demonstrated that I was inappropriately terminated from my job for pure retaliatory reasons. Ms. Weiss appeared gung-ho to take my case at first, but her tone changed abruptly. I believe she thought poorly of the choices I made in my personal life, and it affected how she represented me. She did get me a settlement, took a third of it, and would not assist me when the final portion of the settlement was paid out incorrectly. I would not recommend her again.

Do not go near this woman! She is a disaster! Dropped me like a hot box of rocks when she got pregnant. Lied about progress. Failed to communicate. Ignored me for three months. My employer "eliminated my position" when I took a FMLA approved leave in October 2017. I interviewed several attorneys and selected KC to handle my case. KC was extremely knowledgeable and within minutes of our initial meeting ending, she had already sent documents to the company to inform them of our intent to file a lawsuit. Within a few weeks, she was working with them to get me an acceptable severance. KC was able to get me almost 9 times what my past employer had told me was all they would agree to giving me. The negotiations were complete in less than 60 days. KC was not only knowledgeable and confident but her communication with me was outstanding. This all occured during the holidays and she kept me informed through everything. I highly recommend KC and am beyond pleased with the outcome.

I was privileged to be able to work with Howard Bolter who handled an employment case for me recently. Not only did I find Mr. Bolter to be an excellent attorney, but he was also thorough, professional, concerned, and caring. He always maintained regular contact regarding my case, he was quick to proceed with the next steps while keeping me advised during every step of the negotiation process, and he worked tirelessly to serve his client in the best manner I could have expected. On a personal note, I also found Mr. Bolter to be a true gentleman in all of his endeavors. My experience with Michael Lorence could not be further from what the last reviewer describes. I am truly baffled. I would hire him in a heart beat, however, he encouraged me to explore lawyers who would not have to travel as far to the court - thereby costing more money - where my teenage son will need to appear for a citation. He could have used a hard sell and, honestly, I was so scared and worried I would have done whatever he suggested. Mr. Lorence was kind, compassionate, and went above and beyond to provide legal guidance and support. I live in Maryland and needed help understanding and navigating the law in PA. In my opinion, Mr. Lorence is a "mensch-" Yiddish for "a good, kind and compassionate man." I have many friends who have children at the University of Pittsburgh. I was unfairly terminated from my previous employer due to a disability and Mr. Kirby did a phenomenal job from beginning to end. He took my case despite my previous employer's clout in the community and was open with me about how their reputation may affect the process and the outcome. Mr. Kirby was thorough, diligent, and I greatly appreciated his patience with me as I was still reeling from my termination. It was obvious from the beginning that he cared not just about winning, but he was also angry on my behalf for how I was treated. He explained the legal process in a way I could understand so that I could make informed decisions. As Mr. Kirby explained, he was my lawyer, so he wanted me to direct the decision-making. Mr. Kirby seemed to have great relationships within the local legal community. He was also always on top of deadlines and often wanted to get paperwork filed well before the deadline. Finally, I don't know if I would have made it through that time of my life in one piece if it hadn't been for his encouragement and his excellence and genuine care in dealing with my case. Even if we hadn't had a positive outcome, I feel very grateful for Mr. Kirby and would recommend him to anyone.

I hired Mr. Kirby to represent me in an employment discrimination case in November, 2016. I was fired by my employer after requesting reasonable accommodations to help me work with a chronic illness which affects my right hand and foot and causes neuropathic pain. I will address three strengths which benefited me in working with Pat. 1) He educated me about the law in terms and language I, as a non-attorney, can understand; 2) He was thorough in his review of documents pertinent to my case, and 3) he was tactful in speaking with me about the things that were said and written about me, as well as toward the defendants in his depositions of them. I learned much about tact and diplomacy from watching Pat.

From the first meeting with Attorney Pat Kirby, my wife and I felt we'd made a connection with a professional that we'd like to have in our corner. He made us feel that he had an understanding of what I had gone through and, although empathetic, questioned & somewhat challenged my situation & position in a manner that made me feel he was taking me & my case seriously. After agreeing to take my case, he was off and running on my behalf, and kept in touch with us every step of the way. If I had a question or needed to contact him for any reason, I was always able to talk to him personally either the same day or certainly within 24 hours of my call. He and his legal assistant, Danielle, were great to work with and were both professional as well as compassionate. My wife and I were very pleased with the outcome of the case, resolved in less than a year, and would highly recommend Attorney Patrick Kirby.

I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am to have Linda Albers representing me. She truly is the best attorney that you'll ever meet. I approached Ms. Albers about my case, after a previous attorney that I retained decided that my case was "too difficult" to win, and therefore no longer wanted to represent me. Upon my first conversation with Ms. Albers, I knew that I was in the perfect hands. Not only was Ms. Albers not afraid to approach my case, but she identified aspects of my case that hadn't been explored by my previous attorney. In the two years that I have worked with Ms. Albers, she has made herself available to speak to me each and every time that I have reached out to her. Additionally, she is as brilliant as she is warm and compassionate. Her understanding and comprehension of the law is masterful. Ms. Albers is as passionate about my case as I am, as she crusades for my justice. She is truly phenomenal! While there are thousands of attorneys to chose from, Ms. Albers is the finest attorney that you'll have the privilege of working with.

19 Nov, 2021 by My life ruined by
What a terrible disappointment. I never wanted to go through a law suit in my life, but since I was hit by a car family and friends urged to do so. I don’t recommend suing. I did everything I was supposed to do, went to doctors appointments, physical therapy, etc. I didn’t do this because of the law suit, I did it because I was in pain. This case has been going on since 2018 and my trial was November 2021. I met my lawyer for the first time a week before my trial. The FIRST. I was supposed to “meet him” in 2018 when signing legal documents but instead I met his secretary and was told he was too busy. The second time at the office (when I did my deposition) I met one of his colleagues who was purchasing Christmas presents for his children next to me and not listening to a word I’m saying. He did not go over my case with me until WEEKS before a trial. And when I say go over l, I mean a half hour lunch that he was two hours late for. I never felt confident with him, I never even met him! He absolutely didn’t go over all the paperwork ,which resulted in me looking like a liar to the jury, because he didn’t even know everything he needed to about me. The defense used the same documents against me. I strongly believe if he would have read the documents and did his JOB. Today would have been a different story. It’s not my job to go through all the paper work and documents, that’s what you hire a lawyer for. Now I wish I had, and never hired him. Find somebody else who actually cares about his cases instead of taking on a bunch and hoping he wins one for a fat pay check.

Even if she initially agreed to take on our case when others wouldn't, the entire process felt slow and lacked the urgency we expected. Her communication, while present, often left us feeling more anxious than reassured, and we found ourselves constantly having to follow up for updates. We felt like she wasn’t as proactive as she could have been, and the settlement took longer than we anticipated. While the case was eventually resolved, the experience fell short of our expectations, and we wouldn’t recommend her services.

Dan seems like a nice guy. He thought little of the opposing counsel and thought we were in good shape, Then he failed to review my case in a summary judgement proceeding and we lost. When I asked him why he failed to prepare, he dropped me. Very expensive lesson and I was left without justice.

I was going through a very difficult extended divorce. My first lawyer and I did not see eye-to-eye, I found Lu through a Google search and I am so thankful! Lu took over and fixed everything. My divorce involved a difficult custody battle, military assets, property, retirement accounts, and more. Lu was knowledgeable, sweet, personable, and always showed up ready to battle despite the numerous continuations of the other party. Lu showed an amazing presence with the other attorneys and judges. She always had a light and calmness to her when the situation was so heavy and dark. I am very happy with the outcome of my case. While I hope to never need another divorce, Lu will be my first call for ANY future legal concerns.

What a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Can Do for You

A sexual harassment lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have experienced unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that affects their employment or creates a hostile work environment. These lawyers help victims understand their rights under federal and state laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and guide them through the process of filing complaints, negotiating settlements, or pursuing litigation. They also assist employers in implementing anti-harassment policies, conducting investigations, and defending against claims.

Whether you're an employee facing harassment or an employer seeking to address or prevent harassment claims, a sexual harassment lawyer can provide the legal expertise needed to navigate these sensitive issues.

When Should I Hire a Sexual Harassment Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sexual harassment lawyer in the following situations:

  • For Employees:
    • Experiencing workplace harassment: If you are subjected to unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or behavior that creates a hostile or offensive work environment, a lawyer can help you understand your rights and the steps to take.
    • Retaliation for reporting harassment: If you've reported harassment to your employer and are facing retaliation such as demotion, termination, or other adverse actions, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
    • Failure of employer to address complaints: If your employer does not take appropriate action after you've reported harassment, a lawyer can advise on how to escalate the matter legally.
    • Constructive dismissal: If the harassment is so severe that you feel forced to resign, a lawyer can help you pursue a claim for constructive dismissal.
    • Negotiating settlements: If you're considering a settlement with your employer, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you receive fair compensation.
  • For Employers:
    • Receiving a harassment complaint: If an employee has filed a harassment complaint, a lawyer can guide you through the legal obligations for investigating and addressing the complaint.
    • Implementing anti-harassment policies: A lawyer can help you develop and implement policies and training programs to prevent harassment and protect your organization legally.
    • Defending against claims: If your organization is facing a harassment lawsuit, a lawyer can represent you in court or during settlement negotiations.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you take the appropriate legal steps.

What Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Do?

A sexual harassment lawyer provides various legal services depending on whether they represent the employee or the employer. Their responsibilities often include:

  • For Employees:
    • Legal consultation: Provide advice on your rights and the merits of your case, helping you understand the legal definitions of harassment and applicable laws.
    • Filing complaints: Assist in filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state agencies, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met.
    • Negotiating settlements: Engage in negotiations with the employer to secure compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or punitive damages.
    • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is filed, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
    • Protection against retaliation: Advise on how to handle retaliation from your employer and take legal action if necessary.
  • For Employers:
    • Policy development: Help create comprehensive anti-harassment policies and training programs to prevent harassment in the workplace.
    • Internal investigations: Guide the investigation process when a complaint is made, ensuring it is thorough, impartial, and compliant with legal standards.
    • Legal defense: Represent the company in responding to EEOC complaints or lawsuits, aiming to resolve the matter efficiently and protect the organization's interests.
    • Compliance advice: Keep the company informed about changes in employment laws related to harassment and recommend best practices to maintain compliance.

How Are Sexual Harassment Lawyers Paid?

Sexual harassment lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the nature of the case and representation:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fee: Many lawyers represent employees on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. The fee is usually a percentage of the recovered amount, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
    • Hourly rate: Some lawyers may charge an hourly rate, especially if the case is unlikely to result in monetary compensation but still requires legal assistance.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rate: Lawyers representing employers usually charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on their experience and the case complexity.
    • Retainer: Employers may pay a retainer fee for ongoing legal services, especially if they require regular legal counsel on employment matters.

It's important to discuss fees during the initial consultation to understand the cost structure and any additional expenses.

How Much Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sexual harassment lawyer varies based on several factors:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fees: If working on a contingency basis, you typically won't pay any upfront fees. If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the compensation. For example, if you settle for $50,000 with a 30% contingency fee, the lawyer would receive $15,000.
    • Hourly rates: If charged hourly, fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. Total costs depend on the number of hours worked.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rates: Legal fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. A straightforward case might cost between $5,000 and $20,000, while more complex litigation could exceed $50,000.
    • Retainer fees: Ongoing legal services may require a retainer ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 or more, depending on the anticipated legal work.

Always request a detailed fee agreement to understand all potential costs.

Top Questions to Ask a Sexual Harassment Lawyer

Before hiring a sexual harassment lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with sexual harassment cases?
Ensure the lawyer has a strong background in handling cases similar to yours.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Understand the fee structure, including contingency fees, hourly rates, and any additional costs.
  3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Get an honest assessment to set realistic expectations.
  4. What is the likely timeline for my case?
Ask how long the process might take, from filing a complaint to resolution.
  5. Will my case go to trial?
Discuss the likelihood of settling versus going to court.
  6. How involved will I need to be?
Understand what will be required of you throughout the process.
  7. What outcomes can I expect?
Discuss potential remedies, such as compensation, policy changes, or reinstatement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Sexual Harassment Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer:

  • Verify their license: Check with your state bar association to confirm they are licensed and in good standing.
  • Review their experience: Look for lawyers who specialize in employment law, particularly sexual harassment cases.
  • Read client reviews: Check online reviews and testimonials on platforms like Avvo or Martindale-Hubbell.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Professional memberships: Membership in organizations like the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) can indicate a focus on employment law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting:

  • Detailed account: Prepare a written timeline of incidents, including dates, locations, and individuals involved.
  • Documentation: Bring any relevant documents, such as emails, text messages, voicemails, photographs, or witness statements.
  • Employment records: Provide your employment contract, employee handbook, performance reviews, and any prior complaints filed.
  • Questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  • List of witnesses: Note any colleagues or individuals who may have witnessed the harassment or can support your claims.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide accurate legal advice.
