I had been turned down disability and not sure what to do next, I called around my town and the SSA office looking for a lawyer to
take my case. I was surprised with all the lawyers here that no one did, or knew a lawyer that did disability cases. Finally some one recommended Attorney Wilson. I called and made a appointment. When I first met him, I knew I liked him, he was very nice to me, explained a lot about my case in a way I could understand. He was very honest and told me my changes of winning. Later he communicated with me by phone calls and emails to keep me informed before and after my hearing. The day of my hearing he was very prepared, he had a written brief for the Judge. and explained what would take place in the hearing, making me feel relaxed before we saw the Judge. After being turned down initially by social security for SSI for our autistic daughter we approached attorney Wilson for assistance. Mr Wilson carefully lead us through a very difficult situation and was successful in winning our case. Attorney Wilson did not stop there, he also educated us on setting up a trust to protect our daughter once she is on her own. This was something we had not considered and now have more peace of mind that her future is more secure. I would recommend attorney Wilson without reservation. From day one Mr. Hill and his staff made me feel that I was not just a number, but a person they could help. The professionalism that he and his staff showed was beyond excellent. They made it a point to keep me updated so I always knew what the status was at all times. It did take several years to finish my case, but it was not the fault of Mr. Hill or of his staff. I would get copies of emails sent to VA saying that their response is past the required reply date, which showed me he was always on top of everything. Mr. Hill even went so far as to call me (email not available) when I was in CA to make sure I was informed of the status of my case. Because of him and his staffs professionalism, and their attitudes I have recommended them to numerous veterans that I have met who thought they were at a dead-end and were not getting any real knowledgeable help. I retired recently. I have three issues that I felt qualified me for disability. Each issue, on its own, may not have been enough, but combined together properly I felt it might work. Roger took me on and had me qualified at my second review. I received back disability payments to my retirement date.
In every aspect of my application Roger assisted me in gathering the correct information, submitting it correctly, and answering all questions from the folks in the disability process.

Met with Roger after filing a disabilty claim on my own and was denied! I should have gone to him from the beginning. At our first meeting we discussed what was needed from me and how he would handle my appeal.
We kept each other informed as the process contiuned. When it was time for my hearing, Roger was well versed with my case and prepared me for what to expect at the hearing.
The day of the hearing, he had a calming manner and guided me throught the proceedings! He was amazing!

I can't recommend Attorney Richard Grabow highly enough! I finally have federal disability support (SSDI) because I contracted with him. I would not have been able to successfully navigate the disability appeals process without him and his assistant Melissa. It was very difficult to find someone to take my case, as I am considered very young for disability and because (as Attorney Grabow explained) the system is not really set up to assess people with my many complex, chronic conditions. After a lot of hard work and an extremely long time of searching, I found two others willing to take my case, but after in-person consults, it was no contest that I wanted to go with Grabow. He was obviously very busy so he had to be very direct and to the point about everything, but I appreciate the efficiency and candor. He looked at my work history and medical summary, and he laid out the difficulties of my application but the reasons why I could (and obviously should) qualify. He also explained more of an inside perspective on how the system works, expected wait times, etc. The other folks I considered hiring did not seem nearly as competent nor were they as thorough or candid about things.
Basically, how the office functions is that most communications are with his assistant Melissa and Richard directly communicates when needed. Melissa is friendly, helpful, and has more time for answering questions. Richard is understandably more rushed and some might perceive him as a bit gruff, but again, the efficiency, directness and high level of competence is what I prefer. (And, what works!)
For anyone starting the disability process, some other helpful info:
-Grabow operates on a common disability attorney method where you can contract with him and he does not receive payment unless you win your case. If you win, he is automatically paid a % from your backpay, with a cap. This was a godsend for me as, of course, I was destitute by the time I found him.
-Contracting with a lawyer is extremely important and helpful, but you still have to stay on top of everything that you can yourself. For example, I always take notes, and Grabow mentioned a certain type of paperwork early in the process. I brought it up with him further into the process ("I have X in my notes. Should we be doing that soon?") and his take seemed to be, "We don't need that right now. Let's not do work until we need to do work and have everything as current as possible." Luckily, I pressed him on it to give it to me the forms to get to my doctor...and then, surprisingly, my case processing got pushed up EARLIER than expected, we did need that paperwork, and we had it in the nick of time. All this is to say, I don't think I would have been approved without his work on my case, but you still need to be engaged in the process.
In sum, I am extremely glad and grateful that I used Richard and Melissa!! I was disabled for 10 years without support, and I am finally in the next chapter of my life because of their help. I can't thank them enough!!!

After reviewing different attorneys I chose Peggy because she had been practicing law for many years and in particular because she had a background working for Social Security and knew how things work and finally because she was a woman. I feel that all of my "reasoning" was well founded and am glad that I went with my "reasoning"! I first spoke with Peggy by phone and explained my situation to her and she gave me her direct, honest and open opinion. She acknowledged my case would be difficult, but that she felt I had a strong case, but felt her representation could have a winning outcome. I was glad I found her, she took my case and was involved from the very initial (she helped me from filing my initial application) stage all the way through. Many people don't hire an attorney until they've been denied at least once or twice. I wanted an attorney to help and represent me from the very start. She is very busy, but her staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, thorough, communicative and Peggy was available for questions or concerns if ever needed/wanted. It took a while to get to the final stages of my case and of course I was very worried, but Peggy came through. She met with myself and my family (for their input, since they were around, had to help me and knew first-hand my situation) and reviewed everything with detail, allayed my worries and concerns and from the hip told us what she felt and thought could happen etc. If I had any "advice" I would give anyone is to hire an attorney when you are thinking of first applying (it helps). If avoidable, do not wait until you are denied at any point of the process.

I called several lawyers and I needed my questions answered. But they would not answer me in plain easy-to-understand English. I had three lawyers who wanted to take my case. I could not get them to answer my questions. They kept giving me mumbo-jumbo. My mother unexpectedly died in my arms of a heart attack in April 2022. I was disabled and had not worked in thirty years. I lived with my mom for 57 years. She was divorced and I never married. We were each other's caregivers. She was my best friend. I was frozen with terror as there was no money to take care of myself. I had to sell things I owned and received a loan from a family member. I then received financial aid from D.E.S. programs to help pay my utility bills. This whole time I was stuck for three months feeling very uncomfortable about these other lawyers who gave me disinformation and kept me confused. But they kept sending letters pressuring me to sign their contracts. They treated me like a number instead of a real person who was in extreme grief over losing my mom. So I continued looking for a lawyer and thank you God for letting me see and find Kathryn Dicus. When I called her she answered my legal questions quickly and understandably and I told her that she was the one I wanted to represent me. She was easygoing to talk to. Kathryn is amazing in what she does. I suffer from Dystonia one of those awful invisible illness that most of doctors never hard of. After 2 years with another company, I found Kathryn Dicus on Avvo and scheduled a consultation tham hired her. The process takes time, the first judge already had made up his mind on mot approve my case so she complained about that judge and they assigned me to another judge. The new judge granted me partial disability award on a illness that has no cure. So I got some back pay for 2015, 2016 and 2017. So Kathryn appealed my case to the Federal court and they reversed the state parcial award and granted me total disability on November 2020. I finally got the rest of the back pay, monthly payment and Medicare insurance. It took Kathryn over 7 years but she worked hard on my case with professionalism and patience. If you need a disability attorney, you would be crazy not to hire Kathryn Dicus.

Attorney Medore is a phenomenal at what he does. I would recommend him/his services to anyone. I hired him to assist me with my SSDI claim. He was instrumental to the successful outcome of my claim. Grateful to have found and worked with Attorney Madore. I needed someone patient to help with my SSDI case who was not frustrated by my difficulties with anxiety and cognitive overwhelm due to PTSD and chronic illness. I am glad he was on the other end of the phone for all the information needed. I really did need that help and am grateful to now on the SSDI that I currently need with the least stress possible considering the challenges of the process. I do recommend Richard maybe especially for folks with complicated illness such as Lyme and PTSD.

After being denied by SSDI, I contacted Natalie. She explained that I had a “chance” of having a positive outcome but it would take time. Natalie explained the long tedious process. She was not only extremely knowledgeable but would 'check in' with me and update my file periodically. It did take 2 years to finally get a hearing with a judge.
