In my mind David Martin is SC’s SuperMan. David is the best Divorce attorney out there. He and his paralegal, Saleana Harris are not just professional, experienced, hard working and detailed from beginning to end but they treat their clients like human beings. After seeking advise from several divorce attorneys and being told I would have to schedule a consultation several weeks out before receiving any advise at all I called a firm that David Martin had practiced in prior to opening his own firm. His former colleague assured me that David would be able to handle my case and represent me well and that I should call right away. I called David and the first thing he asked me was if I was okay and to share a little bit about my story. I immediately knew that I found the right attorney and finally felt my panic decrease. I didn’t loose my mind after all either! David was the only attorney (I called about 10 different firms) who asked me what my story was and showed concern for my well being before bringing up appointments and fees etc. He told me what I needed to do to stay safe, what my rights were, and what the plan would be in order to place my children and myself in the best situation possible. I was able to breath a little more before our first appointment. He and his paralegal were patient and always available to answer questions and address concerns. During the most stressful time in my life David Martin and Saleana Harris made me feel like I was protected and had hope. As a mother of two who was married for 15 years and had no prior divorce experience this was extremely stressful. I was living in fear for months prior to making a decision to call an attorney. The way David Martin addressed my case gave me the strength I needed to not give up. David and Saleana are down to earth, treated me like a friend, and made me feel like there was light at the end of the tunnel. I have a parenting schedule that I am happy with, the main custodian of our children and have peace in our home. I’m back on my feet and we are safe. My children are happy and doing extremely well in school and I owe this to the legal team I was blessed with. I always talk about David and Saleana and I will not recommend anyone else to represent my friends or family if needing a divorce. I would even suggest that they call David for a referral before sending them to someone in an area outside of David’s jurisdiction. I just do not trust any other attorney. Period. I hope someone who is in need of an attorney reads my review and feels hopeful knowing that there is an aggressive, professional, no games attorney out here who is also compassionate and truly seeks the best for his clients, who I believe wears an invisible superhero cape, and I hope you choose David Martin aka- Superman!

Saleana, David’s paralegal, is extremely kind, efficient, and prompt. Every time we have contacted the office, Saleana has returned our calls and emails the same day unless they were out of the office. My daughter had a difficult divorce and Saleana was a great comfort to her. Her knowledge as a paralegal makes her an excellent assistant and go-to person in their office. We asked and interviewed many different people before hiring David as my daughter’s attorney. He expressed interest in her case and was honest in what we could expect in court according to tradition and according to South Carolina laws. Being a parent from another state, I was worried about many things. David took the time to explain differences to me. Two important events impressed me about David. After explaining what was traditional to ask for in a divorce, I asked him to go against his experience and make requests that I felt were better. He agreed to do so. Some worked out and some did not. In other words, he is pliable in his job. Second, during mediation, he called me to explain how negotiations were progressing and why the mediator settled compromises contrary to our hopes. I was so impressed that he would support my daughter in this terrible time and enlist my support by increasing my understanding of the decisions made. My daughter collected copious amounts of evidence and sent them to Saleana. I never imagined David would familiarize himself with all this information before going to court, but he was well informed and prepared. I can’t say enough good things about David and Saleana. They treated us with respect and concern and I would definitely hire them again and again!

My experience with David Martin and Saleana Harris through the entire process of my custody battle was nothing short of "OUTSTANDING"! I would recommend David W. Martin to anyone needing a true professional attorney who will always be totally upfront with you with good news and bad. David has shown to be more than capable with Family Law and he has a great personality that shows complete respect and professionalism for his clients. David did such a good job. He was organized, diplomatic, helpful, fair, and gave great advice. He aided me and my child's mother in coming to an agreement outside of the court room and truly made the lives of all parties involved better under his direction, guidance, work, and intelligent course of action.

"0" stars is not an option or that is what I'd select. Wish I would have read AVVO reviews before retaining this attorney. There was a client who had a negative outcome who describes my very experience. Basic questions are ignored and forget about legal advice. The worse thing is his spinning the situation as though the client is at fault while not accepting responsibility as the professional. Not interested is timely moving of the case forward and interested in padding the bill. Enters into agreements with opposing counsel J. Creighton Hayes but doesn't even share any information with this client until there's a motion filed claiming a never disclosed agreement is violated-why? My mailed package to FL home ended up in the possession of opposing counsel's SC office and Mr. Martin did nothing to assist-why? Now interestingly the finger is being pointed to Mr. Martin by opposing counsel who had a duty to return my package to me. The Court had to direct him to do so. Not sure what their situation is but my marriage has enough drama without these additional incidence from these attorneys. It's shameful. I discovered conflict of interests that prevented Judges Guyton from hearing my case due to his association as former law partner with Creighton Hayes' father (Robert Wesley Hayes) but Mr. Martin didn't catch that-why?. Discovered fraud upon the court committed by spouse hiding rental income but he did nothing about it after brought to his attention-why? Hired forensic accountant and myself begging his for assistance and he says he had to research how to subpoena the out of state bank-why?....and the list of failings goes on. In sourcing for another attorney, the criticism of his work or lack thereof has been quite telling. Save your money and look elsewhere. Watch your case and stay involved. The most attention I got from this attorney occurred when I terminated his service. Then he claimed in his motion to be relieved that I don't communicate with him. How many times should a client e-mail, text or call about a situation (while being billed for each)? If the bills says that there's communication with opposing counsel, the client has a right to be copied. Meetings with the client's contracted forensic accountant should not be occurring without the client's knowledge. Who would pay for something billed for which there is no evidence? I have months of ignored questions to which I got answers after he was relieved from representing me. Imagine as a separated spouse I asked about changing my Will and got no response. I've learned yes...change your will at the onset and again after final hearing. I didn't get copies of temporary order and submitted affidavits without requesting them. My own affidavit was provided to me in January 2019 after it was submitted to the Court October 2018-why? This is inexcusable - it's an e-mail that was needed. Don't let anyone tell you how great a job they are doing for you when your eyes, ears and gut tell you otherwise. Report attorneys to the Commission on Lawyer Conduct. Know that if it is evident that you as the petitioner are being placed on the defensive while an attorney does nothing to assist you then it's time to cut your losses. Some damages cannot be repaired. It's your life that is being affected and the outcome of which you have to contend with long after the divorce is over. I would not recommend this attorney.

David Martin was an excellent attorney that I would highly recommend. This is the second time that he has helped me. Both times he was easy to get in touch with, responded to calls/emails/texts quickly. He provided me with all the answers to my questions as well as great advice. He worked tirelessly on my case and got better results than I could ask for. He was a great help through a difficult time. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney.
