My wife and I chose Scott's office to close on our condo recently just because it was the first attorney recommended by our realtor. I honestly didn't think much of the decision because after all, we're just simply signing papers. I have been through the process in the past, but never have I experienced a closing where I will actually remember what happened at the closing a few years down the road. Scott was incredibly friendly and accommodating the moment we walked in the door. He asked us repeatedly if we had any questions about the process or any of the numbers involved. He told us multiple times he would slow down during the process if we wished. Not only was he extremely helpful, but he was very interested in us personally. He asked my wife where she was from upon seeing her name and then went on to ask about how my wife and I met, as he was genuinely interested about us. Our entire experience was incredible from the first phone call we received from his office. All of the staff reflected upon the attentiveness of Scott. No question who we will use for our future real estate acquisitions. Would recommend time and time again!

From blindly picking a closing attorney to the actual closing, everyone in Scott's office was wonderful. Debbie Rose was so nice and friendly, making you feel as if you have known her forever. When we first walked in to Scott Umstead's office it was fascinating. The décor was so different and unusual. It was really fun waiting those few minutes before we closed. The couple before us came out and behind them was a beautiful dog. Come to find out he was a rescue that Scott had saved. His name was Joe. He was so precious. He layed at my feet during the entire closing. Scott was so thorough, explaining everything, patiently answering questions, making sure we signed in the correct spot. I have a few important words to pass along to you about the Scott B. Umstead law firm. Whenever I call them, the phone is answered quickly, certainly in two or three rings. The person who answers is always friendly and professional. She transfers me to the proper individual who is the same friendly and professional individual. All of the paperwork is done in a timely manner; if there are any changes/discrepancies (rare), they are quickly and accurately handled. Mr. Umstead comes into the conference room in a timely manner. He is kind and patient and walks you through all the documents. He answers all questions in a knowing and professional manner. He will even go beyond the required and provide helpful advice, such as saving money by establishing South Carolina residency or taking advantage of the Homestead Exemption. Nice ! Thank you so much for that. When the documents are completed, Mr. Umstead makes certain that all your questions have been answered. You feel confident. You feel that your matter has been handled properly and that you are important to the law firm. If someone asked me to give one word to describe Mr. Umstead and his law firm, I would say PROFESSIONAL. I choose not to go anywhere else.
