She led me through the process with intelligence and compassion helping me to come to a resolution that I feel comfortable with. Rachel Upshaw of Miller Upshaw has been representing me in a divorce starting in Sept 2020. Not even two months later, all I am waiting on now is for the divorce to become final. All the final papers were signed this week, and they would have been signed even sooner but I had to complete a home refi first (My choice, not a requirement of the divorce). In fact, within 48 hours of first speaking to Rachel, my divorce papers had been filed AND served on my wife. I find this absolutely amazing, and would give Miller Upshaw 5 stars on this alone. I should also add that while this may sound like a quick and simple divorce, I would have been married for 18 yrs this month. We had a home together, a minor daughter, some land, and I have my own business--all the makings of a complicated divorce. Yet, here we are, not quite two months later, and we are already down to the waiting period. And, I still have my daughter, house, business, and land. And no, I'm not kidding. The events leading up to my divorce completely devastated me. Never in my life had I experienced such betrayal, anger, and a ton of other emotions I shouldn't mention. And I am a former U.S. Marine with over 100 combat missions under my belt, so I know a little bit about some of those emotions. But none of those experiences prepared me for what I was about to face in my marriage. Simply put, nothing could have. Learning how to deal with a lot of this was ultimately my responsibility, but the difference of having Rachel and the firm on my side simply cannot be boiled down to a few words. When it came to a divorce, I didn't know what I didn't know. But in the first 5 minutes of speaking with Rachel, I not only knew she did, but that she was a master at it. She was upfront and honest with all her advice and she didn't sugar coat anything. I knew what to expect and when to expect it, and was never left in the dark about anything. I work in a legal field myself (nothing remotely close to family law) and I think I know competence when I see it. Rachel and the firm as a whole are FAR beyond just competent. Because of Rachel's expertise, professionalism, and dedication to her duty, I can now focus on rebuilding my life better than it ever was before. Not six months from now, not a year from now, but today! I will keep Rachel and the Firm in my corner for as long as they will have me. Karla and Rachel both went above and beyond to help me at a very difficult time. They answered my questions promptly, gave me excellent advice about very difficult matters, developed creative strategies to deal with unique problems that arose in my specific case, and led me to a more than satisfactory outcome. Miller Upshaw took one of the most complicated situations in my life, and streamlined it to the point that my ex spouse and I are walking away feeling protected and safe. And to add to that, Karla and Joellyn did it all in such a time crunch so as to meet our specific needs. Every time I would call I would feel heard, and treated as though I were their only client. And even though small petty issues would come up they would address them quickly and as ‘urgently’ as I felt they were in the moment (in hindsight they weren’t urgent). They stayed within a budget, which I was on. They all worked so diligently despite the pandemic. I can never thank them enough.
