I would definitely recommend Rachel/hire her again as a family law attorney. In court she is on it and sharp! I was very impressed with how she didn't back down during litigation. Luckily we didn't have to go back to court, though, since Rachel did a fantastic job in mediation. She fought for me to get as much as possible in a rough custody dispute; it really felt like she was looking out for my best interests as her client. She made sure I understood everything and caught cracks in things I would have missed. Rachel and her team were always very quick to respond to my emails or schedule soon if I needed a call. If I ever need a lawyer again, I'll be sure to call her!

Unlike the typical attorneys who are more interested in extracting $$$ from you rather than your best interest and navigating your case via the shortest and best route for you, Ms. Rachel Upshaw takes a contrary approach. Rachel Upshaw is a rare treasure among Family Law attorneys and is in a class of her own. She represented me in a long-drawn-out custody case filed by my ex-husband who constantly kept changing the course of the custody case in the span of 2 years. In his initial 53-page lawsuit - based on 90% false allegations - he wanted 100% custody (from 50%) because he alleged, I was abusing our child. 12 months later, he modified the case into an entirely different, relocation case so that he could move to the West Coast and leave the child with me 70% (from 50%) of the time. The case took 2 years - only because of the incompetence of the other counsel and not ill advice from Rachel. Throughout the case, I was very distraught due to the shear amount of lies in his case against me. Rachel went above and beyond to assist me both emotionally and legally in the shortest most expedient rout to get the case settled and get him to pay a judgement fee for Attorney fees. Rachel gets straight to the point when speaking and in her approach to litigation. So, if your hire her she will not waste your time or money by taking you in circuitous routes that prolong the litigation process and incur unnecessary attorney fees. She will disagree with you if your actions or requests are not in your best interest, and she looks out for you even when you do not. Rachel will advise you to follow the wise course of action based on the best outcome for your based on the merits and pitfalls of your case as well as the world view of the presiding judge in your case. She gives you detailed instructions of the litigation process and prepares you well before each stage of the case. She also briefly helped me, free of charge after the case was over as my Ex kept harassing me over a matter. Rachel is a classy lady and will not stoop to low means to meet desired ends, she will take the righteous course of action for you. She will vigorously defend you and fight for you in court to get what you deserve and will not back down when dirty tactics are used by the opposing attorney to cloud the case and distort the facts in their favor. Most importantly, Rachel has an acute knowledge of family law and gives you sound advice. She is a person with heart and character and the judges also respect her as a result. For all these reasons, I will hire her again and recommend her for anyone who has any type of divorce or custody related case.

Karla Miller is a warrior. My case was and still is a very complicated and messy one, but she has been professional and top notch throughout the entire process.
