Rachel was my mother’s divorce attorney, which is the best decision we made. I will try to write this review in terms of the steps we took with Rachel. The consultation with Rachel and Taylor was very informative as Rachel explained the steps to the divorce, the processes involved, and what our next actions were. During the meeting, we did not feel pressured to hire her as our lawyer. She stepped out to let us talk amongst ourselves so that we did not feel pressured to take any decision because she was in the room. We found that very respectful and kind. The invoices that were sent to us were always fair, and we never felt she was overcharging us or taking advantage of us at all. She is an honest lawyer who is worth every penny! One of our major concerns was that my mother does not speak English so we were worried how that would affect her case, but Rachel was prepared, and she brought in a translator and allowed my mother to have a voice during the entire process. Rachel is honest, forthcoming, and one hell of lawyer! I think it’s important to speak to the stress of a divorce on any family and the communication between a lawyer and a client. We were very much stressed during my mother’s divorce case so we did not know how to effectively communicate the updates appropriately with Rachel at the beginning. We would send Rachel MULTIPLE emails and make many phone calls; however, instead of being upset, she was honest with us by informing us the best way to communicate multiple updates was by setting up a meeting. I think as a stressed client you always have to be open to hear what you are doing wrong on your end so that your lawyer can do their job as we knew were not her only clients. So we knew from then on, if we had multiple things to discuss, we would just send her an email requesting a meeting with her. Rachel is very responsive via email and phone as her entire office staff. They were beyond amazing when it came to us reaching out inquiring about an issue. Rachel was very forthcoming about what things we could control in my mother’s divorce case and what was beyond our control. She did not promise us with results that were not possible. She did her best to show the judge our current situation and how it negatively affected us. My mother’s divorce case was not a typical one which resulted Rachel seeking other legal avenues to help us with the discovery process. Also, it’s very important to remember that while you hire an attorney, no one knows your story like you, the client. The way we could help Rachel was by providing documents and evidence during the divorce that proved our point to be true. Rachel is very kind and understanding, but not a pushover. During court and depositions, she stood her ground and fought for my mother’s rights. It was very heartwarming and emotional for us to see someone passionate about getting my mother’s rights in a divorce that was very hard from the very beginning. I also want to say Taylor, Ethan, and Joellyn were amazing to interact with. Thank you all so much for fighting for my mother, and treating her with grace, kindness, and respect!

Rachel was extremely thoughtful and thorough in her handling of my divorce case. She came to the table with lots of experience and vigor. I contacted Miller Upshaw in Dec of 2020 for help with what seemed to be an impossible situation. I needed the best attorney available in the Nashville area and Karla was the right one.
