IT was ok

I used this law firm five years ago and unfortunately, the attorneys did a poor job of representing my divorce case. During my temporary divorce hearing the original attorney provided no assistance nor direction regarding my decisions on child support so I decided to get another attorney from the firm. BIG MISTAKE. This attorney was more focused on his other bigger cases and devoted little to no time to mine. To make matters worse their legal assistants and staff did not do a good job of returning my calls in a timely manner. I had to make follow up calls and leave messages. I won't be using them again.

I am so sorry to say this but this firm let me down. They took my money and we had a couple of meetings, they wrote one letter to which there was a response and then they never did anything else except eat up my retainer “scanning” documents. I requested Jim over and over because I know he could have made a big difference but instead I was given his not very intimidating associate. Without warning I received an email that my case was closed even though nothing has been resolved and I still need representation. I have called and requested appointments and I am ignored. I have asked for my file back several times and I am ignored. I must admit I am shocked at their poor performance and lack of professionalism.

As a business owner with an online presence myself, I am hesitant to leave negative reviews unless they are a reflection of the company as a whole, and not of one individual representing the company. In the instance case I believe this negative review is more than warranted, and I implore any one reading this to view the photos attached to the review I left on their Facebook page for a fuller and more complete understanding of my experience with the Jim Ross Law Group (Google would not allow my photos on this review for some reason). They validate my one-star review and hopefully deter anyone from making the same mistake that I did. This firm burned through my $3000 retainer in less than a month and did NOTHING in my case. They drummed up billable hours that were either blatantly false or played no part in achieving my legal ends. I am blown away by how poorly this firm handled my time-sensitive issue, as well as their communication skills. I cannot speak for all the glowing reviews on here, but I can definitely relate to and sympathize with all the negative reviews. To be fair.....maybe I just had a bad experience and it is not the norm. But this is a law firm - not a restaurant. Do you really want to take a chance with your legal issues, which in most instances affect the rest of you or your loved one's lives, on a firm that can so easily disregard their duties while deliberately bilking their client's out of their money after failing to follow through on their stated objectives. I again ask that any skeptics or curious individuals who are considering this law firm please view the review I left on their Facebook page to see how this firm interacts with its paying clients. Mr. Ross sounded like a great guy on the phone. He was able to lure me in with my money, and that is hard to do. He looked great on paper and his online presence is what convinced me to go with him. He is running for mayor of Arlington – where I live – and at first I thought I would vote for him. However, after seeing how he allows his underlings and associates to act so unprofessionally and unscrupulously concerning their duties – fiduciary or otherwise – even after he was put on notice, I cannot in good conscience trust that he will manage the affairs of my city any different. Not only has Mr. Ross lost my confidence and business (I have hired another firm), but he has lost my vote. Edit: 05/03/21 - Do not fall for their comments to call the office to resolve any issues. You will only get the receptionist who will put you on hold only to come back and tell you that so-and-so is "out of the office" or "on another call." I called everyday for two weeks after they agreed to credit my bill for erroneous charges and overcharges (i.e. they charged me a higher hourly rate then what is in the written contract, among other things) and they - especially the office manager Paige - NEVER return calls or messages despite what they claim on here. Sad and pathetic. Edit: 05/14/21 - After initiating a dispute with CAAP through the State Bar and sending a certified letter to this firm they immediately contacted me and agreed to refund half of my retainer - which is what I requested - with no questions asked. I have altered my rating accordingly.

TOP NOTCH! During a very scary time Jim Ross met me personally late afternoon on a Saturday and put me at ease. I was blown away by his team's prowess at the negotiating table and will never forget it. I recently returned for assistance writing up a special contract and again was well served.

I have had my case for 11 months with Jim Ross Law group and have not been contacted since paying for my retainer fee. I have had 3 different lawyers at this firm in this time, and each one stated they would give me a call to discuss my case and only once did that ever happen (then that lawyer quit without even telling me). I only even found out my lawyer got changed 3 times because I call every couple of months for an update, just for them to respond by asking who I am and what do I need! There must be internal issues to have lawyers that quit so often. I am just as far as day one with my case, and I am disappointed that I kept having faith in them. Now I am out money from them, and have wasted a whole year with my case. I would never recommend this law firm to anyone.

The experience with this law firm was the best and continues to be the best. Thank you for helping me keep my family together!
