I retained Mr. Slate for my divorce and could not have found a better attorney. Withou sharing details of my case I can assure you the outcome would most likely have been different with another attorney. With his guidance I was able to secure custody of my daughter and retain most of my assets. I highly recommend retaining this gentleman for family law situations, you won’t be disappointed.

Dennis Slate is the best in the business. I trusted him and his office with my most-prized possession of all, my children, and I have no regrets. He was my second attorney after my first attorney was doing nothing on my case except sending me a bill each month. He and his staff worked hard and smart and got me everything that I asked for, including custody of my children. That office works so closely with you on your case that they become almost like extended family. They look at every single detail of your case closely, so get ready to get all your statements and documents in order.
Mr. Slate has such command of the courtroom, he ran circles around my ex's attorney - who seemed flustered at times - which was entertaining to watch. I will definitely recommend him to anyone I know needing a divorce or family law lawyer in the future.

I hired Mr. Slate as my divorce attorney in Aug 2016. He seemed to have my best interest when i hired him, but i learned 1.5 years later that he just wasn’t interested in achieving any results nor helping me get my divorce settled. Mind you, the only thing my ex and i we’re fighting over, was child support. Yes my ex kept hiding or not turning in paperwork but all of my decisions to keep pushing things back, came from my attorney, Mr. slate. In the end, when i decided to get other counsel, Mr. slate sends me an email stating how he was “just being nice to me and should’ve charged me $10k, instead of the $8k that he did!” Horrible right? Yea! So beware of this attorney, if you don’t want to be drug along or you want a lawyer that doesn’t have a high case load and will treat your case as a priority, even after paying $8k!
My new counsel has been on my case for a little over a month and my divorce will be finalized in less then a month. I spent more money again but at least, the divorce is finalized! Oh and i got the amount i wanted in child support too! Crazy! Smh

Love my attorney! So glad I found Mrs Simms, what a blessing she has been. She is so helpful, knows how to talk to her clients, and her "take charge, go get em" attitude is what we needed

I was referred to Dennis from a military friend of mine and I was impressed from the start. Dennis was smart, hard working, and very knowledgeable on all aspects of law practice in Houston. His staff was friendly, responsive, and worked with me through every step of the process during my case. When it came time to enter the court room, he was prepared and was very aggressive. He was the key factor in winning my custody case. I will definitively refer Dennis to my friends and colleagues.

My 1 year old daughter was being withheld from me, without cause or any order after I ended a relationship with her mom. I needed to take action and find a good lawyer to protect my rights as a dad and more importantly for my daughter. I was referred to Dennis Slate by a friend. I went in for a consultation and explained all of the issues that I believed were in play to Dennis and he was very upfront and honest with me and gave me detailed guidance how to best achieve my goals. I retained him and filed the next day. Within 3 weeks we had our Initial court setting, and without a hearing I left court with temp court order making me and the respondent Joint Managing Conservators with all the rights subject to the agreement of the other parent. An initial final trial was set for 6 months later. What should have been a fairly straight forward child custody lawsuit turned into the one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with in my life. All because of the respondents actions. My daughter was withheld again for around a month without cause forcing a enforcement action and a contempt finding in Jan 2017. From there forward I watched while the other party hired and fired lawyer after lawyer. There were so many complicated legal issues due to this and Dennis and his entire team were on top of every single one. There was lots of personal stress and emotions that I dealt with due to this lawsuit but the one thing I NEVER EVER had to worry about was my legal team. Dennis and his entire team were always very straight forward and up front with me. They protected me and my interests in every way possible. They provided strategy and solutions to issues they saw before they happened and then executed in the courtroom. Dennis and his entire office knew the legal system inside and out, every rule and technicality that would help me in anyway they found it and used it. Dennis and his office put me in a position to achieve the goals I fought so hard for for my daughter. I also worked my ass off through out this case to help them help me build the case to achieve my goals. If you are looking for an attorney who will run through a wall for you and stop at nothing to achieve your goals in your legal situation, then look no where else but Slate and Associates because Dennis Slate, Shailey Gupta-Brietzke, Hee Jin Chang, Dannielle Sims, Ryann Tighe, Karen Braquet are that group. I strongly suggest to use them for whatever your legal needs are and if you do not, your opposition just might... and in the event you end up facing Slate and Associates... Good Luck... you'll need it. Thank you again to Dennis, Shailey, Hee Jin, Dannielle, Ryann and Karen!!! You have earned a customer for life.

Last fall, my husband and I found ourselves in the middle of a child custody case concerning our two granddaughters. Numerous parties were involved in the dispute, including CPS and the courts, and we had extreme concerns for the girls’ futures. Our granddaughters were living in different households, and the initial legal representation we hired was not up to the demanding task of reuniting the children. Knowing we had a huge mess on our hands, my husband contacted a trusted friend who was familiar with the Harris County court system. Without hesitation, he responded, “Dennis Slate is him name, you need to call him.” This turned out to be the best advice that we had received in a long time.
Dennis Slate… Personable? Not so much. Knows family, the law, the system, and all other related entities? Absolutely. Dennis is all business with an expertise and tenacity that were essential to the successful outcome of our case. After over 2 years of battling seemingly ceaseless obstacles, we obtained sole managing conservatorship of our granddaughters, placing them under one roof despite incredible circumstances that had once separated them.
To Dennis and his entire staff (especially the tireless Ryann Tighe – Paralegal of the Year in our book), our family will be forever indebted.

I’ve been represented by Ben Raia for quite a while now. Ben is a kind, supportive person who truly believes in bringing Christian values to the legal profession. I suffered through years of abuse at the hands of my ex-husband, and Ben offers me guidance, a listening ear, practical advice, as well as legal support. His staff is just as knowledgeable and caring as he is. As my litigation continues, I believe that Ben will always try to keep my best interest in mind as he tries to defend my rights and as he tries to help my child. If you want a compassionate, kind man to represent you, Ben will be there for you when you need him.
