Compassionate and down to earth.

The consultation was a complete waste of 15 minutes I ever had. Make sure to give other attorney's a shot if you go see her and she undermines your side of a case. I came to Emy because I was served papers from my daughter's father for joint custody. I told her that we already have a split schedule that we have been doing for a year. It was never permanent but I mentioned daycare to the father for some time now but wanted her a little older. Now she is 15 months and ready to go meet children her age. Plus it isn't just any daycare, my daughter was a 2 month premature baby so at 15 months, she is barely crawling. I researched and found a great program that helps underdeveloped children called Early Head Start Creative Learning. I don't mind the joint custody lol her father would keep is every other weekend and if he wanted nights then I would be fine with that expect he works nights so it is not ideal. Her father presented me wanting majority of time with our daughter which I am not happy with. Our schedule was temporary until she started daycare. Now that she is old enough, he is demanding legally to keep her Monday, Wed and Friday as well as every other weekend. Since this would be a permanent situation, I am not so on board. All I want is for my daughter to experience daycare with other children through the week and trade every other weekend as normal. Emy acted as though I was cruel to even think such a thing. She was very abrasive making me feel invalidated and completely sided with the father saying, "You have done with schedule for a year, you can't just change it!" and "You are going to have to change your work schedule to fit his schedule!" and when I was explaining the father's controlling and demanding behavior, she just said "You are going to have to get therapy to deal with him!" I was speechless and confused. She wasn't listening to my side at all. All she heard was I'm taking her from her dad which is not true. I just want a more stable schedule for my daughter and a more stable environment since she is a year now. Plus dealing with her father on a regular basis has been an agonizing year. I also enrolled my daughter to get extra care from DDI Vantage which is basically physical therapy for under developed children. Her father didn't like it so he went behind my back and canceled the program all together without saying anything to me. When I asked him about it, he said nothing. I had to find out by calling them. Emy didn't care. At that point, I knew nothing I could say would be right in her eyes, she already sided with him for whatever reasons.. Anyway, she is more of a divorce lawyer and deals with custody through that which is dollar signs in her eyes. I think she didn't see a huge settlement with my case so she decided to give me her rigid moral opinion. I'm not paying for your opinion nor do I care. I came to Emy for help for a more stable schedule and she basically said I have no options except to stay in the situation I am already in. I am sorry but 1 year vs. 17 more.. Noway. I won't settle for her rude answer and wish her the best in her profession. I have already found another AMAZING attorney that is helping get this resolved. Keep your options open when looking and if this is your first custody battle then don't let her attitude scare you into thinking the way she does. Hope this helped.

From the moment of having my first consultation with Kate and Emy, I felt very accepted and welcomed. Emy was fantastic throughout my case. She and Kate were very personable and were concerned with my best interests in every aspect. They were very firm but very fair throughout the whole process too. Emy is the worst lawyer ever.. Very bossy, yells at her client and makes them jump through many hoops, but never will go to court so nothing is accomplished..We hired her in Dec 2016.. 10 months and $13,000+.. nothing has been accomplished
