In September 2015 I retained Yaiko Carranza to assist me with my divorce case. While Yaiko was out of town I was pushed into a situation where I needed to put a protective order in place for my son and I. Due to the seriousness of the situation, I got the protective order granted. A few days before my hearing I was notified that Yaiko did not do protective orders and that Grant Dickinson would be the one attending my order hearing. I had over an hour conversation with Grant Dickinson to explain in detail my case and my situation so we were prepared for our hearing date. Grant showed up late to my hearing unprepared and hardly knew my name let alone any of the information or details about my case that I shared with him prior. Grant allowed the other attorney to belittle me without so much as an objection or rebuttal. When it was his turn to speak he did not even defend me. He also allowed the other attorney to move forward on the temporary orders of my divorce case without any information about my case or what I shared with him. The results were devastating. The protective order was thrown out, the temporary orders put into place gave my alcoholic ex full physical and legal custody of my son, I was thrown out of my home and forced to find housing for my son and I and was granted “parenting time” every other weekend. I reached out to Yaiko Marilyn to try to fix the situation. A few days later they filed an objection and then withdrew. A year later I am still fighting this case, I still have my son full time because of my ex’s condition, my ex’s home is in foreclosure which is partially mine, my ex has 2 domestic violence cases in front of a minor and I still have not received anything along the lines of support for my son and I. Saying that I was poorly represented is an understatement. This disaster has not only lost me my home but has made this last year a total nightmare.

UPDATE: I KEEP LEAVING MY EXPERIENCE IN THEIR FB PAGE AND THEY KEEP DELETING. If you guys want a law firm that will extend the case longer than it needs to because they want your money, use this law firm. If you guys want a law firm that checks and submits final documents whenever they want and not by the soonest day possible use Moody Law Firm, they are the best at hiding you docs somewhere and don't bother to check unless you give them a call. They had my signed documents since August, they were supposed to submit final documents middle of November 2016. It is now December and they had not send them, why? Because the lawyer neglected to tell me that they could not submit a signed copy that has notes. I never received a call or notice via mail that they had to be signed again. Now thanks to this law firm my soon to be ex-husband could have the chance of getting two more months of my 401K. If you are looking for that type of service, well then, they are the best at it.

My experience working with Marilyn was amazing!! She was very persistent. After meeting with Marilyn she knew exactly what I wanted and knew before even asking what direction needed to be taken. She truly cares about her clients and wants the best possible for them. There was never a doubt in my mind that she didn't have my back 100%. It made a very unpleasant situation at ease knowing I had Marilyn on my side.

Oh my goodness where to start!! GRANT DICKINSON is the best!! He has been our lawyer since 2014. He has helped us get temporarily permanent custody of my step son and we are going for sole custody! It has been a long road! Grant was always honest with us instead leading us down a road that would cost us money and wouldn't achieve anything. His patience and expertise is why we have been able to remove an innocent child from a bad situation! I don't have patience and would say I'm a needy client lol so I would call on whim and Grant would take my call even if I didn't have an appointment. One night I emailed him at 9 pm because there had been an incident and he replied right away and gave us instruction on what to do that night. Then we called first thing in the morning a little after 8 and where put right through to Grant! He again gave us instructions on what do to and we had my step in our care later that day. The staff was always friendly and helpful when I called or if I needed information! I would give Grant 10 stars if I could.

Thank you Grant for making sure my modification is being pushed through and the ledger is changed for my current and back child support. You also made ors take the Lein off my bank account. I appreciate your work!

Moody Brown Law is exceptional. They are very knowledgeable and professional. They are extremely good at what they do. The entire office is very kind and understanding. I would recommend them to everyone.

A split review - Marilyn was fantastic, we highly recommend her. However, if you get assigned to someone else in her office (like we did after Marilyn represented us), go elsewhere. We definitely felt he was playing the good 'ole boy and was more focused on kissing up to the judge and opposing counsel far more than representing us. He did nothing we asked. Because it was such a cut and dried case, we won the financial portion, but lost the kids completely (which was FAR more important). The judge had chosen AND appointed a psychiatrist for the family. He (the judge chosen counselor) said he had never (in his 30 yrs of practice) seen such a horrible case of alienation (that the mother was doing). When this next hearing came, the judge said his very own choice was too prejudicial and threw all his recommendations (as well as the thousands spent to have the court ordered sessions) and the MOODY attorney did NOTHING. I could go on and on with what we consider gross malpractice (the appointed guardian ad litem [Jackman] said he'd be glad to bring a coke to one of the kids if we brought it to him and paid him $150 - no joke or exaggeration) - but it would take too long to type it all. If you don't have a guarantee of Marilyn the ENTIRE time (even after the main divorce hearing), do not choose Moody Brown. I want to give a negative star review, but Marilyn is better than that. ps - our daughter's name shows up as the reviewer, not ours.

10 STARS! ABSOLUTE BEST ATTORNEY IN UTAH!!!!! We searched EVERYWHERE for a good attorney, and a friend recommended Marilyn, saying she was the best attorney in Utah. She was right! Marilyn is FANTASTIC. She was able to get all of my paperwork in and filed before the other party's attorneys even had the chance to get a pen! She handled all of my issues promptly, answered every question I had, was a PIT-BULL in the courtroom, and I even got full custody of my son and uncovered hidden money that was eventually handed to me! She was well worth the price we paid. I highly recommend her, and the other attorneys in her office are excellent also, very professional and precise.

Ben mediated my divorce, and did a great job. He helped both parties feel comfortable through a difficult process. He was also very clear about the rules of mediating.

I paid a fortune for these legal services. After paying over 5,000 in legal fees. I was in the same situation. My mediation was a complete mess and cost me over $250 an hour. My retention was used up before anything was accomplished. I felt very poorly represented. I ended up having to represent myself to get anything done. I don't feel I was well informed of my options. I always dealt with a paralegal, but got billed the same. Unless you can afford to keep forking out thousands and thousands of dollars, you will be put at the bottom of the list and your money will dry up fast. I would never recommend this law firm to anyone. When i called to say how I felt, no one even bothered asking why or how they could help. I was sent a final bill, with added charges to discontinue legal advice.
