This is by far the worst attorney I have ever dealt with. My daughter had an accident where she was rear ended by another driver. The evidence in the case, if were presented correctly, easily proves that the driver that hit my daughter was absolutely operating her vehicle with negligence. In a rear end accident, 99.9% of the time, you are operating with negligence if you rear end someone. I've been in the insurance industry for 20 years and I have never seen a rear end accident where the driver was not found at fault by more that 80%. This is one of the easiest cases for any attorney to win, and he failed. He was ill-prepared for the case, so much so that in his opening arguments he didnt even have the address of the accident correct. He failed to protect his client by making sure one of the most important witnesses, the responding officer to the accident, was available to take the stand. He decided he was going to win the case with a few pictures of the damage blown up on canvas, and didnt need the officer or anyone else to prove negligence. Furthermore, he told my daughter that if he didnt win the case, she wouldnt pay anything. At the day of the trial, 2 years later, she finds out there is a counter claim if she loses and she would be responsible for it if he lost the case. When telling us this, they said it would be a few hundred dollars at best, but they didnt believe it was going to be an issue. (I say they because he brought in another attorney at the last minute to help run the trial, and that guy wasnt worth much either) It ended up being almost $1400 that she paid because he failed to do his job. He refused to speak with her or myself after the trial. He immediately dropped his name on the case. When there were attempts to talk to him or his firm's partners, it was met with silence. As soon as he lost the case, he ran to the shadows and disappeared. He told us he would call and arrange a time to talk about the case and what happened, but he never did. It has been over a year now, and with time to reflect on the case, because I wanted to make sure I was coming at this with the right frame of mind and emotion. I can say the Judge failed, he could have overturned what he knew to be an injustice. The attorney representing the other driver, and her insurance Geico, lied and fabricated a story that was easily disproven with the facts of the case. But at the end of the day, Jake didn't take the time or care to address any of this. He refused to meet with my daughter and I during lunch breaks or recesses to strategize. I have decided to write this review in hopes to keep others from making the same mistake. My daughter still deals with back pains from the accident, and someday she will need a surgery to fuse the damaged discs in her back, and because of his failure to prepare and manage the case, she will be facing the expense of this on her own. If I could I wouldnt even have given him one star, but they won't post this review unless I give at least one. He might be good at managing cases out of court, but if he has to go to trial, it seems to me you would be better off with someone else for your representation.
