if your tired of lawyers promising to fight for you, and then pressuring you to take the first plead deal, Colbert is your guy. he was the only lawyer to keep his word and with confidence wanted to fight my case. his price was low compared to all others, but his services were priceless. I can't thank him enough; especially how enthusiastic he was when I turned down the plead deal. with confidence and his assurance, he promised me he would beat all charges. it took him less then 4 minutes to flip the script on the prosecutor and had all charges dropped as promised. the fact he was ready to fight for me with a smile on his face blew my mind. all prior DWI lawyers spoke a big game charged a lot of money and begged me to plead guilty after promising to fight for me. he is very good at what he does, and he will keep his word unlike others. he is very responsive and passionate about his clients. hands down best lawyer I have ever had and can't thank him enough for keeping his promises.

Update 18 July 2024: Mr. Colbert has sent me a warrant for giving him a bad review. That is the type of man he is. This is the type of lawyer he is. His feelings are hurt, not his business. Sir, I have given proof to the warrant officer of your bad professionalism on this day. Again, I have no ill will for you. God bless! ---- Mr. Colbert was hired based on his qualifications and reviews, which can be misleading as unfavorable reviews are often removed on AVVO. On the court day, he arrived several hours late, causing the judge to reprimand him publicly and only allowing a mere 5 minutes of Mr. Colbert addressing the family, after being asked. He appeared disheveled and did not apologize or engage with the family thoughout the very long day due to his lateness. He seemed more focused on chatting with the prosecution, one who is about to become a judge, during intermissions; which raised my concerns about his integrity. The non criminal case did not go well, partly due to his actions causing a lack of distrust in Mr. Colberts ability to defend my family member. If Mr. Colbert cannot handle the small cases, it leads me to believe his big one's don't go as well as he has written in his bio. Potential clients should be aware that Mr. Colbert might be late, unprepared, and inattentive. Despite his qualifications, his professionalism and conduct are lacking. Please note that I did not hire Mr. Colbert personally. Yet, I am reviewing him based on my first hand account of what I witnessed as an immediate family member to one of his clients. So, if you are looking for a lawyer to keep your family and friends in the loop, to arrive on time, be presentable, trustworthy, and to fight for you (not just seek easy plea deals) then Mr. Colbert is not for you. Mr. Colbert is replying to reviews saying comments are incorrect and a vendetta. He is even giving advice on how to pick a good lawyer, but will not admit to his own wrongdoings. If takes my valid review down, then I will make it again and add proof I have, such as court transcripts that prove he was late, as well as the judge reprimanding him. I have photographs that show Mr. Colbert smiling and laughing with the prosecution during deliberations. I can also tell that his AVVO reviews are padded, A.I. generated. No lawyer truly has all 5 star reviews with not one less than 5 stars. Not even the best of lawyers. So, please future clients be mindful about that, when choosing a lawyer. I have no ill will for Mr. Colbert; whether he won the case or not, I would still post this review because of his lack of professionalism that day. Again, this review is my sole account as an immediate family member and witness for Mr. Colberts client. Thank you and God Bless.

This was thee WORST lawyer I’ve ever had in 14 years of dealing with lawyers. I ignored so many red flags and fell for his tactics. He only looks after himself and portrays an online persona via his website and AVVO reviews that does not represent in person. The first time I met him was in person was for a scheduled trial preparation session. He was wearing gym shorts and a t-shirt. Throughout, he showed how unprepared and unemphatic to my family, friends, and case. He did not handle my case with care and used coercive methods to get me to settle so he would not have to fight. I have more information available in detail if anyone wants to know for I do not want what happen to me, happen to others. This is not about the outcome of the case, this is my review as a client of a lawyer who did not provide effective counsel and education for rational decision making to influence an unfavorable outcome not conducive my best interest. His colleagues and the judge really knows him. The judge scolded him for being an hour late and told him within 3-mins of entering the court room to how it is a disservice to his client on being over an hour late and accused him of "stacking cases". There is much more, but too much to post in detail beyond character limit. HOWEVER, If you do chose to hire him, do and know the following: - Do not settle for a day before trial preparation - When you meet him, bring family and/or friends. DO NOT ALLOW him to separate you from them for they are your eyes and ears for observation (your family/friends love you and relationship him is only transactional (just business as usual)) - Be cautious of certain scare tactics - Ensure he can communicate to you, your interests...NOT HIS - Remember you do not know this person on a personal level and only you know and understand your situation to include your interests better than him - If he has no strategy or plan, RUN! - He runs a 1-man operation, so do not accept him saying," I'm dealing with trial such and such." Your case should be a priority as well too and I've seen an opposing lawyer showcase this! - Do less talking in person and allow him to present and you question him Again...if any questions, let me know for I would have liked someone to have informed me so I could have made a better decision in the lawyer selection process. Remember, you may have one time to get it right with a life-changing decision. Find someone who exudes character, competence, and compassion throughout. Choose wisely...for some people are not thee man or woman to see...but to absolutely AVOID.

I recently observed Mr. Colbert's legal counsel during my relative's misdemeanor case, and it was deeply disappointing. I expected him to arrive early on the trial day to provide guidance and a solid strategy. Instead, he showed up late, leaving no opportunity to discuss a plan or adequately prepare my relative. Throughout the proceedings, Mr. Colbert demonstrated a severe lack of communication and organization skills. He struggled to provide answers when questioned about the case specifics and showed no initiative to challenge the prosecution's arguments or advocate for my relative's defense. The judge even called out the fact that he had knowingly overbooked his schedule, suggesting a recurring issue, as he rushed between court sessions. Despite the case's straightforward nature, Mr. Colbert appeared unprepared. This rushed approach left my relative with little time to consider options and feeling pressured into accepting an unfavorable plea deal. Additionally, critical character witnesses who had flown in expecting to testify were unable to do so, likely due to Mr. Colbert's lateness and subsequent case delays. This is just what I saw. Behind the scenes, there were numerous red flags that further undermined Mr. Colbert's dedication and showed neglect of my relative's case. However, I witnessed firsthand the stress and uncertainty caused by his disorganized approach, which ultimately compromised the outcome. Overall, Mr. Colbert failed to inspire confidence or demonstrate genuine interest in the case. His attitude suggested he viewed it as routine, without caring about the significant implications for my relative who deserved better. I share this experience to caution others based on my experience: thoroughly research and consider alternative legal representation if it's for a misdemeanor charge.

My friend hired Damon Colbert for his misdemeanor case. He sounded confident that based on his reviews Mr. Colbert would do the best to defend him. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I want to make it clear that this review is not based on the outcome of my friend’s case, but the fact that his lawyer failed to represent him in court. This review is also from my personal experience with my interactions and what I saw from this lawyer. The day of his court date, he showed up late. We waited for him for over an hour. They had to page him on the intercom twice for him to appear in the courtroom. We ended up finding out where he was when the judge called him out for stacking up his cases. It turns out he was tending to another case even though my friend was waiting for him for his trial. What is even more concerning is that he told my friend about a plea deal minutes before appearing in front of the judge because he was somewhere else. The judge decided to provide him extra time to decide given the circumstances. Instead of wanting to discuss with my friend his options, he told him to meet 15 minutes before going back into the courtroom to discuss the plea deal. This was even more concerning because rather than informing my friend of his options he wanted to leave him to decide on his own without even explaining what the deal meant. From what I saw, Mr. Colbert didn’t want to do his job. He appeared to be in a hurry and from what I saw he wanted him to take the plea deal without helping my friend. Sure enough, after my friend’s decision, he sprinted out of there without even staying behind to talk to my friend or us about what had just happened. Or even giving him the courtesy to let my friend know about things moving forward.

He only looks out for his own interest and portrays himself like he cares until he secures your hard earned money. He talked negatively about the judges, lawyers, and prosecutors. We should have fired him that day but he knew we felt vulnerable and completely took advantage. Even the judge scolded him within the first 3 minutes on how it was a disservice to us to have his client wait over an hour and while he double booked cases. Showed up late. Dressed like a panhandler. He is a one-man attorney that seeks to make himself seem legit to rack up as much money as possible. he will isolate you and coerce you into a decision that is not favorable for your situation. He didn’t even attempt to negotiate . The day of the trial, he came late. Then we realized he was in cohoots with an opposing attorney on another related case. This attorney, Ann Thayer, was elected by her peers as a substitute judge. You know what that means!? He threw our matter aside in order to try and gain merit from his peers. He behaved like a scam artist that day. Damon, you are a liar who resulted to scare tactics and coercion working against us after you were paid to represent your client. You DID NOT HAVE A STRATEGY OR PLAN and that was obvious. You were a bad joke of an attorney. We flew in to support and you ignored us. You were against and not on the side of your client. Then you had the nerve to show up for consultation with your big dusty face on your T-shirt. It’s only fair to leave this review as I have never witnessed any other attorney disrespect their client the way you disrespected yours.

UPDATE IN RESPONSE: Damon Colbert decided to respond to my review accusing me of “trying to damage my good name and reputation” This is false. I have no hidden motive but to express my experience with him as a lawyer. To say that he “achieved the best outcome for my client” is false. He knows. We’ve had plenty of phone conversations after the fact. I also have proof. HE reached out to us and HE even “acted” like he wanted to fix it and make it right. Yet that was a lie. You know and I know it’s true. Secondly, he says to look at the reviews as his “record speaks for itself.” Yet he flags his reviews and makes Google and Avvo delete them. I have proof of that too. He manipulates these reviews so that he can have 5-star reviews across the board. If I were you, I wouldn’t trust them. Read my experience below and proceed with caution. He is the WORST lawyer! We hired him for a class 1 misdemeanor case. In the initial conversation he seemed confident and ready to tackle the case. I think one of the red flags that we overlooked was that he always boasted about himself. He always stated how he was the best, that every lawyer knew of him, that they were scared of him, and that would get referrals from everyone. We saw the great reviews on Google so we felt that this all must be true. We were completely wrong. We sent him all the evidence we had for our case. He had multiple months to look over it. He was adamant on discussing everything the day before the court date. We should have known then that, that was another red flag. The day we met him, he was so unorganized. He showed up in gym shorts and a T-shirt. He kept going in and out of the room. He never discussed his strategy with us. He was so unprepared. The day of the court date he came to court late. He had double booked another case prior to us and then told us the prosecutors plea deal 10 minutes before we appeared in front of the judge. The judge even scolded him due to his unprofessionalism. The judge gave us extra time to decide. We got into a room with him and he basically didn’t want to do his job. He came with nothing to counter. He talked badly about the judge, calling her out her name. He seemed scared to go to trial with a first year prosecutor! He didn’t want to help us. If anything he seemed annoyed by us trying to come up with counters. He wanted us to take the deal even though it didn’t benefit us in anyway. Needless to say we felt coerced by him to accept the deal. Later on we find out that he lied to us about different things revolving our case and he was possibly working along the opposing lawyer as she will soon become a judge. This was truly the worst lawyer we could have possibly hired. One of our relatives decided to write a review after the court date and he deleted her comment. This goes to show, he is manipulating his reviews to appear like he is this great lawyer. The only reason I write this review is because I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through the same experience. Do your research and hire anyone else but him. He is NOT this great lawyer that he portrays.
