Earlier this year I received a reckless driving ticket in a construction zone. I contacted a couple lawyers before deciding to go with Mr. Matney. He took my case and was immediately very helpful in getting it resolved. We went to court and they extended the hearing to take place a couple months later. Mr. Matney gave me detailed instructions on what I should do to prepare for my next court appearance. Having done all he recommended me to do, we went back to court and the case was dismissed! I could not have hoped for a better outcome. I will recommend Mr. Matney to anyone who needs a lawyer in the future. Five stars for sure!

I reached out to Jeff because I had an out of state DUI and was at a loss on how to approach the circumstances since I hold a VA license and concerned about meeting requirements of TWO states - not a good situation to be in... Jeff responded within 15 minutes to my email request at 8 pm at night by phoning me directly. We chatted for nearly an hour and he answered a multitude of questions about the process going forward and guidance to deal with the a tough and imposing legal situation. Bottom-line - he was able to bring clarity out of a very foggy circumstance and set me on a good path. Since I had to hire a lawyer in AZ to handle my case there, I couldn't use Jeff for the main case. But like I said he was super informative and helpful on phone in guiding me to be sure I satisfied both VA and AZ in all requirements. Plus he helped me without charging !!! He wouldn't take a fee for the time he spent. Amazing - what good character and super easy to talk to ! ***My advice - interview a few attorneys in general if you can. But --- I would recommend Jeff as the first person to handle a case of DUI in VA. He is worth your time to talk to and check out if looking for a solid attorney. I will use him and suggest him to others - without a doubt.

I am a service member of 2 overseas deployments clean driving record never been in an accident and never gone to court. Was in a freak accident where the cop said I was at fault for failing to yield. Mr. Matney came to the court prepared and knew exactly the right way to go about defending it. I took a driver improvement class even though I still felt strongly I did not do it. Let me tell you I was extremely nervous but we were out of there within maybe 10 minutes he had the statue that they were trying to pin me on and said you had to prove 3 things in order for me to be convicted the cop could not prove one of them. When the cop came to scene of the accident he pretty much was saying it was 100% my fault even though there were discrepancies everywhere. Mr. Matney saw this and exploited the cops weak testimony. I have never seen a Cop back track the way this cop did now he was acting like he was our best friend and that we had valid points. If I didnt have Mr. Matney I would of had this on my criminal record where in fact in any other state it would of been the other drivers fault of rear ending me. I have served honorably and my record reflected that of a citizen who follows the rules. Yet the state of VA wants to pin reckless driving on a lot of people. Hands down without question I would hire Mr. Matney and he always seemed to put his family first. The way he cared for me during this case after it pretty much derailed my life was outstanding. He is a one of a kind lawyer and you dont find guys like him everyday. Some lawyers I talked to were stuck up or into themselves he really genuinely cares he puts your needs first and we need more people like that.
