I was going through chemo at the time I hired Mr Hayes to represent me in my divorce. I needed HELP. I knew nothing about divorces, what to ask for, or what help i would need in fighting cancer in the near future. I had hoped this attorney knew what he was doing, but i was severely disappointed. He told me mediation would last a couple hours max. He let it go on for over 5.5 hrs. I was delirious. I fell asleep when i layed my head on his desk in mediation. He didn't even think to ask if i was capable of continuing. I was so sick. My head was spinning and i retained nothing from that meeting. He didn't ask for life insurance. (I never thought of it, but I'm not an attorney) He wasn't going to ask for HEALTH INSURANCE! I asked him just before mediation began if i should ask for health insurance. We did and i got it for a few months. But what else did i miss?? I am charged for calling the office and asking ANYTHING, $12.50. Every single call. Even asking "who is supposed to pay the bills this month?" Since the office has been mostly closed for covid, communication with my attorney is QUITE expensive. The letters to opposing counsel and the courts aren't proofed or corrected and there seems to be problems relating to [the majority of] his staff having English as a 2nd language. I'd like my legal documents to be correct please. I'm still being charged and i thiink my divorce is final, tho I'm not sure. I have asked repeatedly for my final docs, but have yet to receive anything with a judge's signature. Who knows?! I don't recommend divorcing during chemo if at all avoidable, but if you must, find an attorney who really cares about your best intrests and needs, both long and short-term, and who has some experience in actually fighting for YOU!

My dispute would have been with an Insurance company and shortly after my free consultation the Insurance Company chose to pay my claim. However in our consultation we agreed we start off with some letters of inquiry to the Insurance company so I put down a large deposit to get started but then less than 24 hours later the insurance company call me and says they will pay?! Now if MR. Hays was a dishonest attorney he could have said he had started doing something on my case and charged me, but when I asked him what I owed him he said nothing!
