At the end of January 2020 I was involved in a car accident which damaged my neck. I started seeking treatment for my neck pain and was not really able to get a result then the pandemic happened and everything closed down. It took me several years of treatment. It was about a 2 which was enough and not back to normal but I still had residual pain. I was still riding my bicycle skiing and doing whatever I could to have fun so I wouldn’t remember pain, and in the course I got injured again on my lower leg and elbow. This case was complicated enough on his own with just the COVID-19 restrictions, but adding additional injuries to my lower extremities, made it really complicated. Jeff was recommended to me by a family member. I hired Jeff immediately at the beginning of the case and I could definitely say that Jeff was the best decision. There were so many things which went wrong with this case the law firm was opposing us. Jeff’s brother worked at the firm then the apposing attorney in case died after depositions. Finally, after three years, I was able to get relief from the court. Only because I had Jeff’s help without Jeff‘s help I could not have got the resolution with my case at all. I recommend Jeff very highly.

I am a practicing attorney who went to law school with Jeff. When I was seriously injured in accident, I knew I didn't want to represent myself even though I handle asbestos injury claims. (A lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client.) I called Jeff and I am glad I did. He's the best personal injury lawyer I know (not including me!) Absolutely dogged in pursuing your claim.

After I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle I took the time to interview several lawyers. In the interim we turned to Jeff to settle a case where my wife's car had been hit from behind while stopped at an intersection. In my wife's case Jeff was quite knowledgeable, compassionate and efficient in obtaining information, submitting claims and dealing with a rather contentious at fault insurance company from whom he obtained a very equitable outcome. When I had completed treatment for injuries sustained in my bicycle accident I hired Jeff to handle the case from the beginning. In the course of obtaining records, submitting the claim and dealing with the at fault insurance company he obtained the best possible outcome that we could have hoped for while keeping me informed and in the loop through the entire process. While working on my case Jeff displayed an exceptional ability to listen to us and then describe the possible solutions and laws that dictate these outcomes. Highly recommend!!

I found Jeffrey Herman to be a capable and strong advocate for my small, personal injury case. From the beginning, he let me know he was with me. Not just that he would take my case, but that he understood and empathized with what I was going through. It was also helpful to know he is a contingency-based attorney so there was some validation in knowing he was willing to take the "risk". Mr. Herman is very knowledgeable and often cites legalities or situations from past cases he's worked on - some of them quite severe. While some may question why Mr. Herman does this, I found it very helpful. It directly illustrates how well-versed he is in the law and personal injury. It also shows his willingness to fight for his clients. I want to note that I gave Mr. Herman an "average" for "Keep me Informed" but that was NOT due to any lack of communication from him. Instead, his communication with me was as expected, so average. One cannot realistically expect an attorney to contact them every time they think about one's case. Mr. Herman contacted me as necessary to discuss appropriate details of my case. No more and no less. Finally, Mr. Herman is a personable attorney but don't let that fool you! I personally witnessed him assert our position in a respectful but no-nonsense way. While Mr. Herman is approachable and considerate of his clients, he's got the bark and bite to work on their behalf.

We have been working with Kokie on complicated trust and probate issues. She has always been so easy to work with; very knowledgeable and diligent in legal issues and; intuitively understands how to handle difficult complex issues and people. We have been so happy with her work that we have referred our closest relatives to her for their wills.

I feel very fortunate to have met Kokie through my son who asked the Senior Project Manager of the utility company which he worked for for a referral. The Project Manager had utilized Kokie's services for utility right-of-way negotiations. I needed someone to complete my father's probate action that had stalled. It was a very complex probate that involved the sale of real property. When I first met with Kokie, she volunteered to pick up the case file from the previous attorney. Kokie immediately took charge of my father's estate and through her legal expertise and knowledge she reworked a complex and lengthy Purchase and Sale Agreement that led to the successful sale of the real estate. That was the "easy" part. Next, she worked to create an equitable solution to the Asset Distribution process. Kokie communicated with each of my five siblings and proposed a TEDRA agreement that allowed some of the remaining real estate to remain with some of the family while the others received their share in monetary value. She then connected me with an outstanding CPA who worked out the dollars and cents and the capital gains issues of the distribution. Oh, and also during this process, I hired Kokie to create our wills and Community Property Agreement. I then referred three of my sisters to Kokie to have their wills and directives drawn up as well. Kokie is a very sensitive woman that worked with compassion and professionalism in helping my sisters. I could go on an on. I will say that if you only want an attorney to hold your hand, then don't hire Kokie. She is an aggressive, intuitive and knowledgeable lawyer who will take charge of your legal needs and work with diligence and efficiency in seeing them through to resolution. In closing I would like to say that I have made a friend for life in Kokie and will most certainly call on her in the future for all of my legal needs.

DUI Heroes really lives up to their name! Every member of the team lead with compassion but were highly professional. They were detail oriented, commutative and organized. Rachel Reich was my true hero! She was top notch!!! She is firm with defense. I could tell that she truly was looking out for my best interest. I LOVED how detailed she was as I never had to question what I needed to do and what was happening. She took the scariest part out of my situation which was the unknown. The success of the team is definitely inspired by Jonathan Dichter, the founder. He is very compassionate and his calmness and kindness helped tremendously in the beginning. My family and I were highly anxious and scared and his demeanor helped calm that down so we could make a quality decision. I also want to thank Lexi Bryon and Christopher Wong. They were on the team that helped me and I always appreciated their updates and friendliness. I almost forgot. They give a deal to get your breathalyzer at Lifesafer so you can save some money. This is not a cheap experience so every savings is valuable. What mattered to me most is that they NEVER made me feel ashamed. They actually said they were proud of my accomplishments in recovery (which I entered after my DUI). I was not in a good place and this was very much needed to help me recover. From every morsal of my heart - Thank you all!!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lynnwood, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
