I was referred to Mr. Miller through a few friends for a custody issue and a bankruptcy. When we first met, I did not bring the documents I was asked to bring. He was willing to reschedule, and I brought the papers. He was honest about the issues in my custody case and that some things from a few years ago would probably be brought up by my ex, which they were. He stood up for my rights as a father and made sure I had time with my kids. Even though the court ruled against me having custody (based on the past issues), I know he fought hard for me and I plan to go back to him in the future. As for the bankruptcy, he walked me through all of the steps, answered all my questions. I was freaking out about filing, but he kept me informed and made the whole situation easy to manage.

The Justin C. Miller that I retained was impatient , used fowl language and told me off on 3 separate occasions. The Justin C. Miller I retained charged me $1500 to go to litigation but blew through that before the mediation date arrived and then demanded $1000 more. I never received hard copies and only knew what was happening with my case because I looked it up on line. We were notified the case was going to be dismissed and agreed to the next step he would take on my behalf. Justin C. Miller never took the next step, but charged me for his time as if he had. My experience was he didn't file or send things in a timely manner. One of the pages he filed as an attachment with the Court was in my handwriting on notebook paper. He said he would print it out but filed it just as I had sent it to him. I would not recommend this attorney. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Molly was friendly but she only did the minimum for me. I hired her to draft a separation agreement and she relayed my wishes to my husband's attorney. However her feedback and advice to was neutral without her explaining all of my options or the consequences of taking action. She did not take the time to help me strategize. It often took her 1-2 weeks to answer my emails. This made the process take longer than it should have. I got a second opinion from another lawyer, who helped me strategize more effectively, which why I stopped using her legal service.

She is a competent attorney, but she told me so many times that she would do something that she never did. It was very frustrating, especially with the amount of money I was paying her.
Examples are she would tell me she would get back to me within a couple days and she wouldn’t, she said she would look into many things for me which she never did.
When going through a divorce you need an attorney who will do the things they say they are going to do when they say they are going to do them.

There is not enough words to describe how incredible Scott and Issac are. These men fought and won victory over my dad setting him free on all counts. My wife decided to divorce me after 35 years of marriage. I was very concerned about what this would do to my financial future, and especially being late in my career, my future retirement. I had heard many horror stories about how the laws in Kansas favor the female in a divorce. Only having very limited experience with lawyers, I decided to treat my lawyer selection like an interview process. I scheduled meetings with 2 lawyers to get started. Prior to my meeting with the lawyers, I reviewed all of my divorce papers in great detail. I identified several significant concerns with the terms that my ex’s legal counsel created. My first lawyer meeting was with Desiree Smith.
When I met with Desiree, my first question was about how she was going to represent me. Was I just a lost cause, because I was a male, or was she going to fight for everything she could get for me to protect my future retirement? She reassured me that she was working for me, and she would be doing everything she could for me. She asked me several general questions to understand our financial situation, and then laid out the typical scenarios that could happen in my situation. That immediately set me at ease, knowing that my financial future was not ruined, and that I had a path forward. She then reviewed the terms in the divorce papers. Within only 3-4 minutes of review, and without my assistance, she identified every concern I had about their terms, and a couple more that I hadn’t noticed. At that point, I knew I had found the right person to represent me, and I didn't need to meet with the next lawyer.
Throughout the rest of the divorce process, Desiree’s experience and knowledge showed in every conversation we had. She could quickly discuss detail, easily recall detail from previous meetings, easily answer questions, and was able to help me think through strategies for moving forward. Every meeting I had with her was very productive.
In the end, Desiree helped get a great settlement for me, and we did it without going to court. I got a far better settlement than I ever thought possible in the beginning, and I feel like I probably got a better settlement that most divorced men. Desiree was a very big part of making that happen. I can’t say enough about her knowledge, and how she could explain legal concepts in ways easy for me to understand. Desiree was very easy to work with. I would highly recommend Desiree to help anyone through their family legal needs!

I wish I could write a positive review for Mark but unfortunately I can’t. He completely sabotaged my case. What was a pretty straightforward child modification case turned into a complicated mess that left me beyond stressed. Not only did he break court rules that basically backfired on me and now left me with the unfavorable aftermath but his lack of communication and disinterest in following through and defending his client AND missing court deadlines has caused me a great deal of stress! He broke so many ethical rules, I still can’t believe happened to me! I hired him to help me not destroy me! Please do yourself a big favor and save yourself a great deal of stress by finding a reputable lawyer! Again, I’m sorry I have to write a bad review but if anything positive that I can get from my experience is to let others know so they at least won’t go through what I did! Mark, what you did to me is so wrong on so many levels!

This man is a beast in the court. I was referred by other lawyers that he specializes in family practice. Had a few meetings(paid everything up front and in full) provided every piece of information I could for custody and immediate divorce hoping for the best for my children. He went above and beyond and the ladies in the office were always super helpful. In the end I was awarded full custody with strict visitation to be decided by me. I was in court 2 times and total and maybe 3 months of work tops. I will forever refer wesley starnes for ANYTHING custody or divorce related. I am dissatisfied with the behavior of this law firm, which has wronged a friend and respected member of our community. After attempting to address my concerns with the firm's owner, I was met with a lie from the paralegal about the owner's availability. This incident reflects the unprofessional conduct that I have observed since my friend first retained this firm. My friend, a responsible and law-abiding individual, was taken advantage of financially by this firm. They have failed to provide adequate communication and have not honored their obligations under the retainer agreement. I have filed complaints with the local bar association and will continue to advocate for my friend and protect others from this firm's unethical behavior.

I made a appointment with the owner for a consultation. Her secretary called me to ask me if I wanted to make an appointment with Maria cognetti or her associate for less money. I stated that my friend was going through a divorce but had no money, does she take cases like that ? I was told she does at time take cases like that but we had to go through the consultation first to see if she would. We went to see her, she said she never takes cases like that and her office would of never told me such things! Well this was the only office I ever talked to so 100% I was told that! She said she has never done that. I spent 509.00 for nothing! I do not make that kind of money and for her office to deceive me like that was not right! I would have never came there to give someone 509.00 for nothing!!!! Her secretary also didn’t tell me she was allergic to perfume… but Maria basically called me a liar that her firm said she sometimes takes cases where the client pays afterwards, but shocked her we weren’t told about her perfume allergy?…. So I’m out of 500. For nothing, I said would I showed up to just give you 509.00 for nothing? Just think about that….. if they were honest at the beginning, and if it was a fact they never did that I would of never gone to hand over 509.00 cash for nothing…. Think about that…. And yes it was the only law firm I talked to! She made it seem like I talked to another lawyer. No 100% cognetti law firm 100% that they told me she sometimes takes special cases with no money… so I feel scammed. I wasted hard earned money for nothing!!!! We don’t make a lot in life to hand out for nothing! The fact she made me feel like I lied about what her secretary said is even worse!!!! Think about this … why would I come there if I had no money? I asked the secretary that question! She said yes she does take cases like yours with no money upfront, but you have to get the consultation first to see if your case qualifies.. then Maria said she has never taken a case like that ever!!!!!! During my divorce I initially hired another company and they were dragging their feet and I felt bending over for my ex’s attorney. So I fired them and hired Mirenda. Took about two weeks and divorce finalized. Close to a year later my oldest daughter wanted to live with me, so I hired Mirenda again. It was a tough battle but Mirenda guided me through it and I got temporary custody of her. However, she decided to go back to her mom. Then my youngest wanted to live with me, so I hired Mirenda again and now I have primary over her. During every divorce there is high emotions doesn’t matter who you are.
