We had a good experience with Pershing. I'm glad we had them to guide us through the process. You're paying for their experience and expertise in guiding through the bureaucracy because EDD is very much trying to trip you up in their bureaucratic appeals process. My advice is to not try to take on EDD yourself by any means. They will try to confuse you at every turn. The hearing can be intimidating since you have to do most of the talking yourself, but I'm grateful we had Charlie to walk us through what mattered and what didn't. Sometimes we had to call the law firm multiple times in one day to get an answer to a question, and that's just the way it goes sometimes. Don't be deterred and don't hesitate to advocate for yourself and ask questions. Also, be sure to hustle. Get your stuff into the app quickly, it'll help you in the long run. We won our case, and we wouldn't have done so without Pershing's help.

I was very satisfied with the assistance of Miguel and the other staff members that I interacted with. He was always available to answer my questions and concerns. He was confident that he would be able to win my case and he came through! Thank you everyone! I would recommend this law firm to whomever I thought could use your future services.

The EDD sent my wife notices of overpayment that we owed them 20k plus interest for the unemployment she received during COVID. We tried to submit our appeal by ourselves and it was rejected. We took a chance on this law firm. We paid the 1,200 bucks. They represented us in the trial and the amount we owed decreased from 20k to 8k. But the lawyer we had was so invested that he believed we shouldn't owe anything and he appealed it to the next highest court where we won and now don't have to pay anything. We never broke any laws the whole time and without this law firm we would have wrongly been forced to pay back 20k plus interest to the EDD. We are forever thankful to this firm for what they did for us.

This law firm is engaging in classic bait-and-switch tactics. Their advertisements claim "You pay a single flat fee if and when you win" and "You do not pay our fee unless and only when we win your case." However, when you call them, they demand an upfront payment of $1700 that is non-refundable regardless of whether you win or lose the case. This behavior is dishonest and constitutes false advertising.
--- EDIT ---
The response from the law firm lacks logic entirely. While I can understand the need for an upfront payment, it makes no sense for it to be non-refundable, especially if the case is lost. As a lawyer, one would expect that they possess a certain capacity for reasoning and that they can differentiate between a complaint about an upfront payment and a complaint about false advertising.
In this case, I am not disputing the need for an upfront payment. What I am complaining about is false advertising. The law firm advertised a "single flat fee if and when you win" and that "you do not pay our fee unless and only when we win your case." However, when I contacted them, they demanded a non-refundable upfront payment of $1700 regardless of whether I won or lost the case. This constitutes false advertising and is dishonest.
