I've been a client of Ms. Perreault in two cases--probate and civil. With her expertise and passion to fight for justice I’ve accomplished more in a shorter period of time than with my previous two lawyers. Hopefully, I won’t need legal services anymore but if I do I feel safe to have Ms. Perreault on my side!

Tony went above and beyond the call of duty. He was available 24/7 and would always respond to my questions very quickly. I was facing lengthy prison time, and thanks to Tony, I only got probation. Even though my case is over, Tony continues to check in and make sure I am complying with probation and he is there to answer my questions. He truly cares about his clients and it shows. By far the best attorney I have ever had.

Anthony was able to provide thoughtful insight and advice during one of the most difficult and trying times of my career. He was prompt in returning all of my phone calls and e-mails, and made the entire process as easy to understand as possible. I was very pleased with his knowledge, professionalism, work ethic and superior writing abilities. Thanks to him, my situation was resolved very promptly, which saved me both time and money. While I hope to not require legal assistance in the future, I would definitely seek Anthony's assistance again should the situation arise.

Susan was recommended by a friend who also went through a divorce and I’m so glad I chose her. Susan understands the law, the process, along with the financial challenges such as bonus’s and corporate awards. Susan is expensive however throughout the process she never held unnecessary meetings, calls or emails, and always got to the point. She ensured I understood the process and what was being asked of me. Susan is fair, equitable and most of all collaborative. Divorce is an awful process, Susan alleviated that anxiety and always spoke to the facts. I would also like to mention her team. They are detail oriented and very clear with what documentation I needed to provide. I hope none of my friends ever have to go through a divorce but if they do I wold highly recommend Susan and her team.

Charles "Tony" Piccuta is a very personable, diligent and highly skilled attorney. He's a good listener and communicator: always keeps me updated about my case, educates me during the most difficult times of my life, and strives to serves my interest (a legal professional myself, I am aware that good lawyers perceive the legal industry as a business, yet the best ones view it as helping profession). Tony is a knowledgeable and tenacious attorney (admitted to practice law in four different states, a very rare scenario, which enabled him to see personal injury or Tort Law from different perspectives. Each state in the United States has its own personal injury laws and familiarity with two or more states' tort laws means a broader grasp of personal injury law and practice). Before contacting Tony I did a very thorough research to find the BEST counsel (considered depth of experience in courtroom, past litigation success and professionalism); I noticed all the attributes of a great lawyer and didn't hesitate to hire him. Simply put, Tony is the Best and I highly recommend him!

I was in Florida when a situation came about that required using the "Trust" that Mr. Klevorn had written some years earlier. Being up in years I was in tears not knowing what to do. When I called and left a message he returned my call very quickly and carefully and considerately saw that I was taken care of even with my lack of understanding. He made me feel comfortable as my huge problem was resolved. Yes, he was professional but treating me kindly went a long ways to giving him a five star rating.

If you work with Kevin Klevorn, you will hear the phrase "using the right sized hammer," and he has it mastered. He keeps the unnecessary paperwork (and your cost as a result) down while getting to the root of the matter. He has practiced in the area for long enough where he knows the ins and outs of our local court system and the people involved. In addition, Kevin returns all phone calls within a day and sends copies of ALL documents by mail at no extra charge. Kevin has my full confidence, and the level of knowledge he possesses makes you feel secure, and his calming nature makes it seem like everything will be okay. I highly recommend Kevin Klevorn as an attorney.

I hired Matt to represent me in a case involving a school and a fellow student's false accusations against me. Without going into too much detail about the case itself, I can say that Matt was an unexpected blessing. Not only did he immediately want to listen to my side and hear me out, he also realized from our first meeting that this entire situation had devastated me. He was available to talk 24/7, whenever I had a meltdown and needed him. He definitely didn't have to do that, but he seemed to genuinely care about not only my case but my own personal well being. I can't say enough positive things about Matthew Cebrian. He was knowledgeable, trustworthy, and committed to doing everything he possibly could for me. I didn't get the result I wanted from the school, but in the end I didn't even care: I knew Matthew had done everything in his power. If you're being wronged by a corporation, entity, school, or business, I would strongly urge you to seek Matthew's counsel. If nothing else, you won't regret meeting him.

Khaldoun & Matthew represented us in a wrongful death case. They were exceptional attorney's. They were both very attentive to our needs and extremely sensitive to our case since it was involving the death of our son. They went above and beyond what we expected and got us the best outcome that was possible. They left no stone unturned in their investigation and gathering of evidence. I have the utmost respect and confidence in them. They both have a lot of integrity and were very honest and real with us. They have a lot of compassion and even reduced the fees that they took in the end. That was huge in my book. I very highly recommend them. I had been facing a very unusual, complicated legal issue that had dragged on for many years before I sought Mr. Vlasak's advice. Statutes of several different states were involved and a thicket of elaborate legal documents needed to be consulted before my case could come to any resolution. For me, Ryan Vlasak's expertise proved indispensable - he took the case apart like a toddler's toy! Everything Ryan predicted would happen, happened in my case, and there were no surprises. This attorney is simply amazing. I was very lucky to have had such a caring professional on my side. I have called upon Ed Garrabrandts since first moving to Florida in 1979. First when my husband and I set up our wills. Again when he passed away in 1985... Over the years he has handled estates (I have been widowed twice), set up trusts and handled a multitude of things needing an attorney that occur over a lifetime. After retaining Bill he did everything in his power to get my charge reduced. Because of Bill I was able to get my case continued and finish an entire year of college before completing my sentence. After nine months of letting the case resolve itself I was given the plea bargain opportunity to plead down to a gross misdemeanor and only receive 60 days of work release. You messed up but relief is nearby. You want an expert who will also listen to you, explain the situation and your options and put you in the best situation for a positive outcome. Martin is your guy. After you hire him when you are going through waves of freaking out you can come to Avvo and re-read the 100+ positive comments (I've read them all for comfort 8 times by now) and know you've done all you can to help your situation. I put myself in a tough situation. I went out for a few drinks, nothing egregious but when I was leaving a parking lot I goosed it around a corner and squeeled my tires. I was pulled over and declined to talk the the officers about where I was that evening or participate in any sobriety tests. The prosecutors for DUI trials in Lake county are farmed out to a private firm and the state's firm sent their #1 top guy. Martin got us a Not Guilty on DUI and Reckless driving, and a modest fine and court supervision for squealing tires. Martin went head-to-head with the state's top dui prosecutor and left him noticeably pissed while we walked out with a huge W. You'll be comforted by his understanding of Lake county courts and procedures. He will listen to you. We worked together to craft a defense and no point anything that I thought important was left unconsidered. Even though my case hit a complication and dragged on a bit his flat rate fees were clear fair. Quite honestly they were about 75% of what I expected and was willing to pay for a proven winner. He's super busy but will always make time for you. Most importantly, he's a genuinely good guy. There's a reason for Martin's top rating. Do yourself a favor and pick the best. Get the free consult and make your own choice. It's hard to put a price in peace of mind. If you've read this, you've been informed. Unless you have another proven rockstar at your disposal to consider I strongly advise you to go with Martin.

Without going into as much detail as Steve, my story is very similar. I am a teacher and risked my livelihood if I had been found guilty of the unfair charges lobbed against me (my licenses would have been revoked). One lawyer after another painted a bleak outlook. In hindsight, I am so grateful for Mr. Mincey's assistance. I was one of the lucky ones several lawyers said to me after I told them how my case ended. The chances that they would have been able to achieve the same results were slim, I learned later.

My name is Steve Brantley Spence, I am a financial advisor and I live in the state of Virginia. A weekend trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania changed my life forever last January 9th, 2014. Virginia is an open carry commonwealth state and I was foolish enough in my thought process and I figured Pennsylvania's laws would overlap with Virginia. I was wrong and I traveled into the city limits of Philadelphia with my 9mm handgun on the floor of my passenger seat. In the state of Virginia in order to conceal a gun you must have a permit to do so, therefore I had my gun out in the open because I did not want to break the law by having it concealed in anyway. When I arrived in Philadelphia I was involved in a small car accident. The other driver and I waited for the police to arrive and after they arrived I was arrested for not having a permit to carry in the city of Philadelphia. I was completely shocked and in disbelief that I was going to jail for a simple mistake and not knowing the law. I did not resist arrest nor was I rude to any of the officers. I was charged with a class 3 felony for not having a permit to carry in the city of Philadelphia. I've never been in any trouble prior to this incident. I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Business Management and another degree in Marketing. I also played football at East Carolina during my four years and we won back to back CUSA championships. I have two handsome sons, a beautiful niece and a fiancé that I love so very much and who rely on me. After I posted bail I was able to travel back home to Virginia and continue my work as an advisor. There was a dark cloud over my thoughts and life because all of the lawyers that I reached out to told me that I would have to serve jail time and there was no way around it. Mr. Mincey did not make any guarantees but he promised me he would do all that he could to make sure I would not serve any jail time. If I were convicted of a felony I would have loss all of my securities licenses and been fired from my firm and be banned from practicing as a financial advisor. Mr. Mincey took on my case and worked very hard to work out a favorable deal for me with the District Attorney's office. Kevin stayed in constant contact with me and updated me every step of the way. I did not receive any jail time. I'm on probation but I still have my securities licenses and able to practice as an advisor. The hard work of Kevin Mincey not only impacted my life but my son's life as well. A couple of months after my arrest,my son's mother was unable to take care of him any longer. August 2014 I was granted full custody of my son. I don't know where my son would be if I were in jail and not able to take him in and raise him now. On behave of my family and all of the people that depend on, we truly thank you Kevin Mincey!!!

I had a lawyer who said I had no chance of winning. I hired John Nagle and he won my case doing a 7 hour trial. He proved my X was lying. I got my son back and after that settled my divorce case for 50/50 custody and I now pay nothing to my X. I do not think anyone else would have put that much effort into my case. His fees are way below my former lawyers. I was so scared. Now happy. I definitely recommend you call him for honest clear advise.

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
