I was arrested for two DUI’s a short time apart. The first lawyer I hired (not Kevin) was from one of several solicitations I received in the mail a short time after my arrests. Since I knew nothing about how this all really works, I decided that they were all probably pretty much the same, so I hired the lawyer that was closest to my home. He took my $1000 deposit, and showed up for both hearings, (which really didn’t take much preliminary work on his part). I was very concerned at this early juncture so I tried to reach him at his office several times before trial on either case and he didn’t return my calls until shortly before the first trial. When he did, he said he’s been very busy with cases that are more serious and asked why I was harassing his office, even though I had only called and left polite messages, at most twice a week, without a call back. Needless to say I knew I made a big mistake hiring this guy. So I kissed the $1000 goodbye and quickly looked for another lawyer.
Kevin was recommended to me by a relative who actually works for another lawyer. After talking with him on the phone for a short time, I had a good feeling about him so I decided to make an appointment and speak to him in person. I think I just gave him my name and case numbers, but before I arrived he had already familiarized himself with both cases. He explained everything to me in detail, and patiently answered all of my questions. Although I was, of course, still concerned with the possible pending consequences of the DUI’s, I left his office feeling confident that he was really going to do his best for me. I had been so worried about losing my driver’s license, jail time, criminal record, car insurance, job reputation, etc… I didn’t want to be concerned about my lawyer too. I do field service work so my driver’s license is critical to my livelihood. I came to the conclusion that I really needed to put full faith in my lawyer and let him do his job. With Kevin I felt I could do that, so I did.
Over that course of both cases and many trial appearances, I became even more confident that I had chosen the right lawyer. I discovered that Kevin really knew is way around the court room. He had a familiar rapport with the court officers and officials and knew the personality of each of the judges. He seemed to be well liked by them. He knew exactly how to make the system work for us, and to use a verse from an old Kenny Rogers song, “knew when to hold em, and when to fold em”. He was very versed in court procedures and legalese. He knew which of the legal maneuvers to use and at which time. He kept me completely informed throughout each of the trials and proceedings. Although I’m no expert in evaluating the way a trial goes, I was amazed at his expertise and subtle finesse.
When all was said and done, both of my cases were discharged! I knew I didn’t deserve jail time or to have my license suspended or any of the other consequences, including losing my job, that would have come with a guilty verdict, and Kevin did everything right to assure that didn’t happen. I know he knows just how very grateful I am too, from my obvious joy at the outcome.

I was a first time offender who was looking at 3 felonys on a crime i didnt commit. Kevin Birley took my case and got the charges down to probation. Used Kevin for my boyfriends VOP hearing. It was a first time tech. violation for a DUI case. Not only did he get the detainer lifted and avoid further jail time, he was very upfront and honest. He did not give false hopes or make unrealistic expectations. Even for a simple VOP hearing, he put time and effort into the case and even followed up after the case to ensure he was released. He also has very reasonable prices. If you need a criminal lawyer, I would highly recommend Kevin.

I was falsely accused of extremely serious criminal offenses for which I was interrogated, charged, arrested, jailed, tried (jury trial), and eventually acquitted. I was initially charged with 4 felonies that grew to 6 felonies after having been indicted before a grand jury. I was facing the possibility of life in prison for things I didn't do and Mr. Bruns believed in my innocence and fought extremely hard for the truth from day one. From that first phone call I made to him in a completely terrified condition through all the court hearings and procedures all the way up to the day I walked out of that courtroom having been rightfully acquitted, Mr. Bruns brilliantly and passionately represented and defended me. Mr. Bruns also represented me at my expungement hearing which was granted by the judge and subsequently completed. Not only is Mr. Bruns an extremely skilled attorney, I observed through several court appearances and hearings that he is very highly regarded and respected in and out of the courtroom. Greg has helped with a complicated marijuana related offense that could have resulted in a prison sentence and was able to get a reasonable probation granted and the ability to keep working without a Texas prison record. I recommend him. Gregory Simmons was appointed for my husband's case recently. Luckily the case was dropped about as quick as it was charged. This attorney is definitely on top of his stuff though. When he went to visit my husband he had paperwork for my husband to fill out so he could talk to me. Also he had a plan as to what the next steps of action he was taking would be. He was well prepared. When I contacted his office they were very helpful and let me know what was being requested and the status. When I called back as requested a few days later, we were advised that because the case was dropped before the request was completed there was nothing more available. I have no doubt that if we would have needed to proceed further with more time that this attorney would have been great representation for my husband.

I used Douglas A. A'Hern for my husbands case it was a drug case and Mr. A'Hern was always available anytime I would have a question. He would personally answer any question or concerns I had. Having used numerous attorney's in the past I know that it is hard to find a good one that does not want to retire on you. I have used D. A'Hern for several differant cases with myself and my family and I will continue to use him in the future as well as refer family and friends. He took the time to explain the process that I was going through and at each step explained what was happening, what I could expect and how we were going to achive the desired result. I found that he was very knowedgeable and responded in a timely manner when I asked questions about the probate process and how to proceed. This process has been very difficult to deal with since there are several family members involved and he has continued to help focus on the task at hand even when your personal character is attacked for trying to fulfill the last wishes of a loved one. John Toland is my hero! He is a down to earth, sincere professional. I was charged with a federal crime and facing the possibility of up to 15 years in prison and needless to say this was the scariest time of my life. When I met with John I knew he was my attorney. I recommend the Peek & Toland firm 100% - they gave me 110%. We won one of the most difficult cases with the odds completely stacked against us. I would say at least 90% of other Austin law firms would have lost my case. I say this because other firms I brought my case to were very negative on the case. While Peek & Toland were not exactly positive on my case, they were willing to exhaust every possible avenue under the law to win the case, and they did!

We all make mistakes; some of us make illegal ones. being caught is horrifying. Your fate is left in someone else’s hands, and you have little control of what the consequences of your actions will be. It’s like having the lights turned off, it’s pitch black and you can’t find the light switch. Mr. Metos was my light switch. He was patient, non-judgmental, and the best in his field, which is exactly what you want when you find yourself in this type of situation. Fred was able to negotiate a minimal amount of time for my sentence; I received three months which could have been 15 years. Seven years after serving my sentence, Fred was able to have my record expunged. Life is good; I owe a great deal of my success and happiness after that dark period in my life to Fred.

I hired Mr. Ferbreche to handle my husbands criminal cases. I had spoken to a couple of other lawyers in my search for the right one for us and after the first consultation with Greg Ferbrache I knew he was the one. He was extremely knowledgeable in the law and after he had a couple of days with our case he knew the case well and started working to get us the very best outcome possible. In the end the case closed much better than we expected. While the case was going on he responded to our calls and text in a timely manner and answered our questions in simple terms so we could fully understand everything. Robert defended me and my company in an EPA trial in 2006-07.
I was kept well informed of all my options and Robert pursued any
that would defend me and offered all to the government that might be
benificial to my case.Eventually,the trial ended in a second mis-trial
due to information not offered in the time frame allowed by the government attornies.I believe many attornies would not have objected,
and the trial could have resulted in much worse fines and punishment.
Even though I felt the charges did not merit the punishment,I was very
fortunate to have someone as knowledgeable as Robert.I would not
change attornies if I had to go through the ordeal again.

I couldn’t afford a lawyer…I had detectives charge me with a substance that wasn’t true. He made the “lab” retest and was able to get charges dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor charge. I retained the services of Mr. Pagano several years ago when he was practicing as a criminal defense attorney. I was charged with misdemeanor battery and sexual abuse. Although these were very frightening charges, Mr. Pagano always discussed the case with me in person and carefully went through how the law applied to my particular case. He firmly believed in my innocence and never waivered in his approach to fighting for me at all court hearings. He demonstrated superior knowledge of the law in all his court presentations and motions. Unfortunately, he had to discontinue representing me before my cases concluded because he was appointed as a judge/magistrate for the County Division Courts in Lake County.
