Mr. Bender came highly referred by a family law attorney as her law firm did not help in criminal matters.
Mr. Bender was realistic did not sugar coat things or tell me what I wanted to hear. He told me the truth and what he could do.
I was falsely accused in my case and Mr. Bender saw the case all of the way through.

I called to inquire about hiring an attorney. As a recent law office receptionist myself, I know how crucial professionalism is . A receptionist is the law firm's first appearance. Marie or Maria picked up the call...It was very apparent that she had just woken up . She sounded confused at first.
I asked about the office and how to schedule a consultation. I asked if there was someone who spoke Spanish to which she replied "YES" very sarcastically. I asked about hiring an attorney to represent my friend in court and hoped for the possibility that he did not have to appear due to his work schedule. She went ahead and said "Your friend has to appear in court, it's not like the attorney can go by himself" ....I am not sure why she thought that answer was correct considering she is not the attorney and she does not know the details of the matter.
Regardless, I asked to schedule a consult. She told me that I had to give her a call in two hours. I asked why and she was silent for about a minute and then proceeded to say "because my system is updating.".. Not sure why she didn't think of maybe grabbing a piece of paper and writing down my info or SHE be the one to offer to give me a call . I stayed quiet after she told me that and she followed with "Can you call be back in two hours yes or no...or is that an issue?" ... I let her know that was certainly an issue, I wanted to receive service at the time of my call and honestly after the whole conversation and the lack of professionalism from her part, I thought it was best if I seeked service elsewhere.
This review is not against the attorneys at this firm , it is to make it known to Maria or Marie, that sleeping on the job is absolutely ridiculous. Working at a law firm means being ready to serve clients who are in need of help. Picking up the phone with a great attitude and being empathetic when needed. I loved my job as a law receptionist and it saddens me to know that this firm might be losing a lot of potential clients due to this receptionist's lack of professionalism.

Roy Scott is the worst attorney, people do not hire him..yes him and his assistant Debbie will make promise over promise and they can be talking for so long on any questions you might have but as soon as you give them the payment they’re couple of millions they charge they won’t answer u again and if you call to the office the secretary just tells you he is not available and after calling so many times she just hangs up and if you call again she won’t answer cause they have caller ID the worst persons don’t ever think they will help on any type of case he is too old and can’t even hear what the judge or anybody present at court is saying he is not capable anymore he is a very old man

I had a minor case that started in March for which I then hired Roy Scott to represent me. He charged me $2000 and told me he would begin working on the case and provide updates. It’s December now and Roy Scott and his paralegals have ghosted me at every chance that I tried to reach out for an update.
Due to a lack of updates from Mr. Scott I believe I’m justified in feeling cheated out of my legal fee. Perhaps Mr. Scott doesn’t prioritize all his client equally, which I understand since he’s running a business, but that doesn’t excuse the deplorable attention that I think my case has received.
In all honesty, it’s lamentable that I have to make this post at all. I’ve been a kid that has wanted to be an attorney his whole life and now seeing how some attorneys value their clients, makes me want become a lawyer that will treat clients less as checks and more as people.

I found Mr Perry through a friend who is an attorney himself. My attorney friend did not know Mr Perry personally, but told me that he had an exemplary reputation as a litigator among other attorneys. My friend advised me that if I was looking for the best criminal defense attorney in the area that I should strongly consider Brian Perry.
I took his advice and hired Brian for my case. From the start I was impressed with him. Our initial meeting was casual yet down to business, I felt like Brian was on my side and was going to fight for me through this process. He was a straight shooter who immediately went to work looking at different avenues that we could use to fight this.
I really appreciated that he had a set price for each stage of the process, rather than charging by the hour. I had previously used an attorney who was hourly, and I was afraid to email, text, or call him because I knew that was going to result in a charge. With Brian I knew what each phase was going to cost, and I didn't have to worry about some question that I had costing me $300. I also really appreciate it that I knew what the general cost we're going to be up front depending on how things went with the case. It was a weight off my mind knowing what I was looking at as far as cost rather than it being some open book where at the end I get a surprise bill.
Throughout the process Brian was available via text to me when I had questions that came up. His assistant Kara was extremely responsive, always getting back to me within an hour. I really cannot say enough about the guidance that they provided through this difficult time. I hope to never need their services again, but if I ever find myself needing an attorney, I will be sure to hire Brian Perry again.

Brian Perry is a top notch lawyer who will get the job done, period. I’ve hired Brian on 2 occasions and each time I’ve come away with a sentence I never would have expected. A combined total from the 2 cases equaled 14 years in prison and over $35,000 in fines. Each situation ended up with a sentence of 1 year of probation, a minimal fine and court costs. Brian will put you at ease during the first meeting as he reviews your case and explains the charges in detail so you can understand and make decisions. James Cordes provided terrible advice. His drafting was sloppy and required extensive redrafting by opposing counsel, and he advised me to take a terrible deal. Because of James, I am taking home a fraction of my income. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how bad it was until firing him and employing new counsel. He is a nice man, but a bad lawyer. I wish I had gotten a second opinion before it was too late.

We hired Lester Nieves to represent a very complex criminal case. I completely trust him to represent who we hired him for. He definitely knows the law and your rights . I was referred to Jon Kurtz by my estate attorney. Jon enlisted partner Elise Whitley for perspective and backup. While no one enjoys a divorce, Jon and Elise made it understandable for me, a first timer. As we worked through the process, I gained confidence in their knowledge and capabilities. While researching divorce opinions, I found case law that Jon had argued (successfully). Good to have that experience in your corner. Not to mention an adjunct professor at Wake Forest and a Legal Elite.
We were stymied by foot-dragging opposing counsel, and the added burden of ending Covid, but Jon keep the momentum going, with steady reminders and requests for responses, getting commitments.
Ultimately we did get a settlement I felt was reasonable.
My take-away is that the Kurtz firm brings a sense of dignity and respect for the law, exceptional experience and knowledge, and the competency needed for successful family practice.
I have no hesitation recommending Jon and company, without question one will receive services of the highest order.

I hired Attorney Crews to represent me on a traffic ticket that I received in connection with traffic accident in November 2020. He was very communicative when we contracted and made arrangements for payments, but did little else after that. My wife and I immediately stressed to him that it would be important to get footage from traffic cameras at the intersection in question when we hired him in mid-November 2020 .He took a look at the ticket I received and said that he had contacts at the prosecutors office and would be able to get this dismissed right away.
By early December he still had not requested that the footage be preserved. He consequently was unable to secure the footage, compromising my ability to defend against the charges. Instead, he called to tell us that he'd gotten a copy of the report----which my wife and I had already gotten a copy of on our own. Between 2021 and January 2024 we only heard from attorneys or assistants that worked with Mr. Crews and not Mr. Crews himself, we reached out to him ourselves.
In February 2024, I finally had my court date in municipal court, Mr. Crews told us that he would not be able to attend but would send another attorney in his stead. We had a quick phone call with that attorney, Attorney Harrell, the day before court to introduce her to us but not having any meaningful convo about the substance of the case.
On the court date, Attorney Harrell was late and by the time she showed, I had negotiated a diversion for myself. My wife and I told her that we no longer needed her/Mr. Crew's services and walked away.
When I got home, I saw a missed call from Attorney Crews (he had called my house phone while he should have known I was at my court date). I called him back and he immediately began telling me-- a 63 year-old man- that he was very upset with me and that I had "belittled" his fiance. ((Turns out that Attorney Harrell was his fiance and not just a colleague). He then threatened to call the police if I contacted him again and hung up the phone in my face.
He's been dodging my calls and voicemails ever since and has been non-responsive to my request for a refund. This is not the way a lawyer or a man should handle business.

The person answering the phone is extremely professional, but forget everything getting any of these guys calling you back. I wouldn't give them any stars, but for the person who answered the phone. If you need an attorney that is there for you you, these guys are NOT IT. They never even have the common courtesy to return a call, and I had a family member who tried to use this form and for the exact same results. My recommendation is to not even try this bunch.

Mark was the most difficult person to speak with and when we would speak, he treated it like he was always in a rush to get me out the door. I never felt that Mark had my best interest at heart and was made to feel as if I was a bother for all the questions I had. I’ve never been in trouble before so of course I had questions. So fast forward to the end of the case. We felt as if Mark wasn’t interested in talking with the Prosecutor and when he did, he didn’t seem to fight on my behalf. So, when it came time to agree on a settlement, I trusted that Mark had my best interest at heart. The DOL revoked my license for 365 under admin suspension after the DUI, then after the conviction, they tacked on another 365 days for a total of 2 years. I have come to find out that Mark could have negotiated my license suspension from 365 days to 90 days which he never even discussed with me. I asked Mark about it before the hearing, and he said it should only be the original 365 days. Then I get the letter from the DOL a few weeks later that it is in fact a 2 yr. revocation. Mark could have fought that but never would return my calls. Not sure how he received such high ratings because he did pretty much nothing for my DUI case for the amount of money he was paid
