Paula took on our contentious custody case in 2019. Despite many setbacks from COVID, she helped us get custody of our child in 2021. Her knowledge of the Maryland court system and family law set up our case in the most successful way possible through multiple pretrials and contempt hearings; we didn't have to go to a full trial. We believe her approach to our case and was the reason the defendant asked to settle. She has been an attorney in Anne Arundel County for over 30 years and her knowledge, network, and skills reflect this tenure. She is a bulldog in court and made sure the defendant's counsel followed litigation procedures absolutely perfectly or not at all; and the judges agreed. She understands the behaviors of disordered parents and knows how to approach them with legal actions that will perfectly document their performances in a manner that the courts will understand. The legal motions she drafted for our case were brilliantly written and documented the events of our case in a manner that truly showcased the poor actions of the other parent. Curtis Rawlings has been my attorney for over 10 years. He has helped me with everything from a custody battle to now a relocation to another state. The Social Security Disability process is extremely difficult, confusing and frustrating. We srtruggled for the first few years, not knowing what to do or where to turn. By the time we contacted Maria Riddle, we had been denied and broken financially. Maria took charge, put us in touch with exceptional doctors and specialists, walked us through the disability process and made the experience way less horrible. There were times Alicia, her assistant and I just talked.. she knew how hard it was for us to go through this process and showed extrteme compassion every time we corresponded. My only regret is that I did not meet Chris and his team sooner. After my divorce was finalized, I began working with Chris to modify the judgement (unfortunately he was not my original divorce lawyer). He was very forthright and knowledgeable and provided excellent advice throughout the proceedings. He also took an aggressive stance when my ex tried to sue for her attorney’s fees. He won the case despite the fact that the judge clearly favored my ex. He won it by diligently researching case law and aggressively presenting our case, all the while being professional. I frankly can’t recommend him enough. I sincerely hope I’m never in need of an attorney again but if I am, Chris will be my first call. Again, I can not recommend him and his team enough!

Changing attorneys and hiring Chris was the BEST decision I made! My ex-husband spent 5 times what I did on his attorney. But Chris and I won every point in our case.

When two people just can’t work it out, sadly divorce is sometimes necessary. It is imperative that you find someone who will look out for your best interest and also help you navigate the whole process. I contacted Jennifer Harrington in Sept 2021 to start the divorce process. My ex-husband and I had been married for 11 years and have 2 young children. We also had a large house, land and assets that needed to be dealt with. Divorce is one of the most devastating things to go through. Jennifer was so understanding of what I was feeling and helped me sort it all out even when emotions were high for me. I stated the things that were the most important to me and she made sure to make my wishes heard and did an amazing job getting me everything I was seeking. If I ever had a question or a concern she was super prompt about getting back to me either via email or a personal phone call or text. We had to wait until our home and property sold before we could finalize the divorce but on March 1, 2022 we did sign off on everything. Jennifer made a really difficult time in my life manageable and she was definitely my back bone and strength throughout the entire process. If I had to do it all over again (thank goodness I don’t!) I would hire Jennifer again in an instant and I highly recommend her to anyone about to start their divorce.

I've known Paul for many years and chose to have him personally represent me in my post-petition divorce matters. I know many divorce attorneys and did not choose to go back to my initial attorney, so this should resonate. Paul is extremely intelligent and is able to handle complex financial situations. He is very knowledgeable on all pertinent case law involved with divorce matters and the local civil procedure and other filing rules. He reminds me of a tax accountant who can rattle off random IRS code sections. His rates are also competitive and he can go up against any large downtown law firm and obtain great results. This I know from personal experience, as my ex-husband was represented by one of the most well-respected and often nasty law firms in downtown Chicago. I hired Paul two years ago having used him for multiple petitions since there and have only had very positive experiences. When looking for a family law lawyer he contacted me within a day from when I sent in a request. He called me right away even though it was a Sunday to discuss the situation and gave me advice even prior to our initial consultation.
Paul is incredibly skilled and versed in Illinois family law with a very strong background and experience in practicing in Lake county and Cook county. Due to this Paul is able to give very strategic advice and was able to best possible outcome from my legal situation.
While he can be aggressive he is not a "bulldog" lawyer as he understands that law is an art and especially family law it is not always black and white so he does his best to lay out the situation, the options and the potential outcomes. He leaves it up to you to decide the best option to take but makes sure you are making an informed decision. Once you have decided how to best handle the situation he will aggressively execute on that decision but will also constantly reassess to make sure you will get the best outcome.
Paul is an amazing legal resource and adviser but he will expect you to stay in the driver seat for any legal situation. You will need to do the leg work to provide Paul all the evidence and information but he will then break the information down and advise on the best course of action.
As most legal situations are high stress Paul keeps himself incredibly open to communication and has responded to any urgent situations incredibly fast. When you hire him you have his attention and I've felt him truly care about my case and situation. I can not recall a item that it's taken more than 24 hours to get a response of call from him even on weekends and holidays.
I would highly recommend Paul and I have personally given his card to several people when they need help in family law.

I'm glad I was able to find Justin to help with my will and the other forms he suggested. When I got hurt from an accident I knew I needed to get my things together. Justin was able to do everything over the telephone and email because I could not come to his office because of the accident. When it was time to sign all the documents he was able to get a notary and witnesses to come to my house. I did not have to worry about doing anything.

Justin was very attentive to listening to our concerns and knowledgeable about how we should proceed with the divorce. Instead of feeling any pressure to hire a lawyer, Justin suggested that we may want to consider not each hiring lawyers and we each represent ourselves. Justin did suggest having someone draft our documents just to make sure our documents were done correctly.
Looking back, I am so glad we took Justin's suggestion. We decided to have Justin draft all the documents we would need for court. He spent time with us to go through the entire process and answered any questions we had. What made us feel more at ease was that Justin was quick to get back to us if we had any questions.
