As a father of a 5-year-old boy, I honestly couldn't ask for better lawyers to represent me in court. Lisa and Kevin normally work with me and they are AMAZING! Extremely professional, punctual, and great at communicating with me both in and out of the courtroom. One of the district judges even said I have the best family lawyers in the county. In 2006, I went to meet with Carol Caldwell. I was not in a happy situation and concerned about my future. A friend recommended I write a few notes about my situation. My notes turned out to be five pages typed single-spaced. When I met with Carol, I told her I had notes. She read the five pages. She looked at me and asked if I had any idea how much danger I was in. That was when the walls of shame and secrecy came crashing down.
My husband was severely abusive, but I was too ashamed to admit it. Carol lay down her requirements: I needed to get in contact with Betty Griffin House for a place to stay and counseling before she'd begin the process. Once that happened, she moved fast. I had an injunction in two weeks and the divorce was final in six weeks.
To say she changed my life is an understatement. She saved my life. She did not accept a case for the sake of work. She focused on my safety and well-being. Every step of the way, there were moments where the counseling at Betty Griffin helped me. I do not believe I would be where I am now if I had chosen any other lawyer. Irene Intelligator represented me in a highly contentious case. she was honest and professional. The first time i visited her office, she comforted me and gave me courage. she also explained to me that litigation is expensive and only the attorneys benefit from prolonged litigation. By encouraging me to settle, she was clearly acting in my, as opposed to her own, financial interest. I hired Michael in a somewhat contentious divorce. I would say he was firm, consistent, but fair throughout. He told me what I needed to know and kept me fully informed in the whole case. He did a good job in pushing the issues that needed to be pushed when they could. Also, he was less expensive than other lawyers I talked to with similar experience, but I liked that he was straightforward and didn't seem like he was trying to tell me just what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to know.

What to say about Goldie... She is a pushy, strong, fights for your side and will not stop. She is a powerhouse. There is nothing that my now ex wife wouldn't do to try extort money from me and being dishonest with the judge was also a normal thing for her to do along with her lawyer who also did not tell the truth. In the end, Goldie was great and got me divorced and also ended the crazy with my ex. I am free no matter how much my ex wanted to be married to our divorce to punish me. I am so thankful for Goldie as she always set me straight and was my rock.

Goldie always listened to me. I was divorcing my husband and we had 2 young kids together. No matter what the other side did, Goldie would fight the fight for me. She would say things to the judge that I could not believe she remembered I told her. She knew all the details. The other side would hire and fire lawyers. Each lawyer was worse and they would just lie to the judge to try and get something. Goldie always prevailed. She won the war for me and I am now free and I have sole legal and sole physical custody of our kids. She is truly a miracle worker. I love you Goldie.

I had contacted dozens of lawyers to help me with my (contested adoption) case, they all had turned me down until I found Ryan Kuhn. From the very beginning you could tell Ryan and his assistant Jen are both very passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. One of the experts in our case said to me, "you either find a good lawyer who is a bad person, or a bad lawyer who is a good person, Ryan is the rare exception in that he is both." This is sooo true. Ryan and his assistant, Jen, were very understanding and compassionate but yet professional and reasonable as they helped me file for divorce from my husband of 30 plus years. One of the first things Ryan said to me was… “ I am more expensive than a counselor, so if you want to chat about things not directly pertaining to the case, I will steer you back on track….but I recommend it is healthy to go seek out a counselor to help you emotionally get through the divorce.” Right from the start he was very conscious of a budget and kept things moving that were important to the case. He reminded me that somethings could cost more in attorney fees than were worth proving. Where I wanted to achieve something based on the principle of it, he steered me back to the cost that would be sacrificed to get it.
The divorce was complicated by the fact that I had put my career on hold to be a stay-home-mom to several children, allowing my husband to advance his career with the federal government and have all the perks related to early retirement eligibility, federal employee health benefits (FEHB), a government pension and a generous government matching Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Although I had the same college degrees, education level, previous federal employment, and had recently picked up non-federal employment, I did not have the number of years to be eligible similar benefits. I counted on Ryan to weed through the confusing government rules and regulations pertaining to government “Spouse Equity,” “Survivor Spouse Annuity,” and “Federal Employees Health Benefits.” When my husband was adamant that he did not want to provide for the Survivor Spouse Annuity, Ryan was able to appeal to him and his attorney to have it provided because of the long marriage. Whatever Ryan did not know, he found out. He also has access to professional paralegals (at rates less than his) who are experts at dividing government retirement and TSP accounts based on individual cases. Ryan leveraged their information and guidance in preparing the court orders for the retirement division and the TSP division. Ryan is highly knowledgeable of the government retirement-type issues and an expert in the preparation of court orders specific to government retirement plans.
Although there were no longer any minor children, my case was further complicated by many other things, to include stock being held for an elderly parent with the intention that it would be returned to her if needed for her health care, multiple bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, student loans for a couple children, pages of personal belongings, hotel points, airline points, hidden cash, hidden trips, hidden debt, an adult child still in college-tuition, a house mortgage, a timeshare, multiple cars, some of which belonged to children, a dog, healthcare, dental and vision for adult children under the age 26, and the desire to be able to obtain federal healthcare when needed for myself.
One of the best ways to describe Ryan is that he has the mind of a chess player. He was always thinking one move ahead, and the topic of alimony comes to mind here (pros and cons)…. You’ll have to ask him.
Did the divorce cost more than expected? … Absolutely! But I am the reason for this. I can be wordy (this is probably the longest review on his page) and my emails long, but Ryan patiently answered every question, reminding me along the way to trust him, and that my wordiness and multiple questions would cost me more. I did not care because he was providing me with information which gave me peace of mind. He also obtained something that three other attorneys told me could not be done (ask him!). He is excellent, worth every penny.
Lastly, it is not in my nature to write reviews. I have made this one exception because Ryan and his assistant, Jen, deserve kudos for a job well done. A sincere Thank You Ryan for accomplishing the near impossible. May your practice thrive!

Wow...where do I even begin....Jessica Laleh has been nothing but a blessing! I was down and out on my luck, lost ,scared and confused. I went through a really bad divorce years ago which caused me to lose everything and most importantly custody of my son...I had no direction of what to do or what attorney to even trust at this point after many failed attempts to get my son back. My brother and I were contemplating dividing our inherited farm into two parcels, rather than being owners in common. We were introduced to Buchheit Law by our previous lawyer who had retired. Buchheit Law did an excellent job of taking care of our request. We had a virtual meeting and she explained the process so we understood what would go on, and then kept us aware of the action required and that which had been completed. I went through a lengthy divorce process that was very difficult, and full of a lot of acrimony. I interviewed a dozen family law attorneys, and took copious notes. Traci stood out above the rest. I was very happy with my experience at FFLS. My now Ex and I went through Mediation with Laura and I was impressed by how simple and logical she made the process. All communications were timely, all instructions were clear and she really helped make what could have been a very difficult situation much easier by being great to work with.
I was so happy with the work she did to help us through the mediation process that I actually went back to the firm to help me with another separate civil matter. When we were looking for an ethical attorney to represent our son, it was a daunting task. We interviewed many attorneys, but after meeting and speaking with Matthew Izzi, I knew that he was the one to represent our son's defense. I felt he would approach his defense with integrity and respect for our son, and he did. Matthew doesn't fall into believing false accusations of articles written, community pressures and opposing counsel stacked charges, he develops his defense based on facts, based on the truth for his client, our son. He assured our son of his defense plan and collaborated with our son on the best way to develop his defense strategy. Matthew's demeaner in the courtroom is professional, no matter how much opposing counsel tries to pull his strings, he remains calm and forthright. He addressed injustices that were made against our son and explained many facts, of the truth, that sheds a bright light for the jury to see and that light doesn't go out, for that is what the truth does, it shines bright. Matthew gave us hope, something the DA tried to destroy. The Shasta legal system is a process of delays, unnecessary jail time --for our son, questionable decisions made by appointed judges, unfair bail , this is 'not' a justice system in our point of view. This was frustrating for us and for our son. We experienced many injustices during my son's trial by opposing counsel and Shasta Sheriff dept. So you need a good lawyer when you are in Shasta's court system. If you are looking for a good defense lawyer consider Matthew, he cares for his client's well being, despite the uphill battle he faces when dealing with the opposing counsel's unprofessional behaviors, different judges and Shasta Sherriff/Probation dept., etc.. One more comment, if you read anything written via yelp, social media or in the newspaper, that is negative about Matthew's character, by certain people in Shasta county, don't believe them, they can't deal with Matthew being so good at his job and believing in our son's account regarding what really happened. God knows the truth and the yappers negativity against my son, will be dealt with by God.
When stacked charges are brought up against your loved one, you need an attorney who will represent your loved one, in an aggressive, professional, intelligent and smart manner. The highlight is-- you need Matthew who will believe in you and will work diligently to prove your loved one's innocence. Matthew helped me understand an area, that I wasn't familiar with, the legal system, this also helped our son fight the system for his innocence and to try to get through the difficult situation. Matthew's staff is friendly, listened to me through many phone calls regarding my frustration with the Court process, the DA and Sherriff dept. So consider Matthew for your defense, this will be the most important decision of your loved one's life.
