The fact this business is supported through extortion and unlawful acts that are considered crimes because they are at work forcing people to pay their way through life so they don’t have to actually work is a complete crime against our gos given rights. Don’t pay but make sure to send notarized and certified mail asking why they think it’s okay to take our god given rights away so they don’t have to actually work. Ask them why they think it’s okay to enslave us through policies and take the rights gave you away. Supreme law of the land already determined this business is not conducting itself in a manner that states our children are not the beneficiary as they should be. We are the beneficiaries and they are the trustees.

Had Anderson for family court. Worst decision I've made. They got the $2000 retainer from me and took over a month to file everything through the courts. The paralegal that was retired and was helping the firm had it done with in 24 hours. No communication at all. As a representative for someone for court they didn't represent me nor stood up for me. I was supposed to have paperwork to me with in 3 days after court still have not received them a month later. They do not care about any individual that they are supposed to represent. Had a court hearing and I showed not knowing that court was rescheduled for another month. Worst lawyer I've ever had! Recommend to run the opposite way! He was able to get me 32 hours a month with my children. Great work and keep the horrible job that you do!

Initially they seemed like they were interested in working with us for a family situation regarding custody of a minor. They got the process started and we happily paid the invoice they sent us. Then they ghosted us and have been sending us bills for a couple of years now for work they never did. No responses from them when contacted, no emails....just invoices in the mail. Wasted time and money for nothing. Stay far away!!!!

My lawyer had to push her to actually do her job and do more than 1 15 minute visit with my child. Lied in court saying I was refusing to cooperate. She has no business being a GAL and playing with children lives!!

Mr. Philip Mullin was legally retained and paid $21K to represent myself and my family. However, the day before our trial, Mr. Mullin advised us that he failed to file any motions on my family’s behalf and, as a result, we lost our case on a technicality. In other words, since Mullin missed the court's deadline to file his legal documents on my family’s behalf, we lost automatically and never had the opportunity to present our case to the presiding judge.. Afterwards, I discussed a reasonable refund with Mr. Mullin, but he laughed at me and told me, “No way, I'm giving you a dime back!" And also stated, "I’m sorry, but time just got away from me.” This was my family’s experience with attorney Philip Mullin of El Paso, Texas. Beware.

I first used Mr. Mullin as my divorce lawyer 12 years ago. He went against a State Senator and did very well! I chose to retain Mr. Mullin on a yearly basis regardless if I needed him. He is a very good lawyer. He has assisted my family and has continued to fight for my children when any issues would arise. Mr. Mullin assisted me greatly when I had issues with my former employer. He was very well prepared, and won our case which was quite lengthy. It was not an easy case, but he was very knowledgeable in the area of labor laws. Mr. Mullin reassured me that everything would be fine and he was right. He is a very professional and well versed lawyer with many years of experience. His small family law firm went head to head against one of the biggest law firms in El Paso, and has won! It took several months, but beleive me Mr. Mullin knows what he is doing. He recently completed a child support issue, and although it takes him a little bit to get around, he managed to recover quite a bit child support due to an increase. Once again Mr. Mullin went against a large law firm in San Antonio and was very successful. Mr. Mullin has instilled hope to both of my children (who are now young adults) and in me. The bottom line is that he cares about his clients. I know that I have used Mr. Mullins services many times and I truly appreciate his fighting for justice! Thank you Mr. Mullin and Azalea for all that you have done for my family over the years. We are grateful.

This lawyer continuously calls people from other States that have nothing to do with current court cases and harasses them. Calls them 9 to 10 times in a row without leaving a message behind for no reason whatsoever. The people he calls has nothing to do with the case whatsoever. Does not communicate With anybody until the day you see him in court. Do you only lawyer I have ever met that harasses people that have nothing to do with the case whatsoever just out of pure spite . He needs to retire hes way too old to be practicing law, and when he was in the court-room outside waiting to be let in he continually asked other lawyers for law advice. He needs to Be fired and needs a wheelchair because he can barely walk let alone practice law.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knew how cruel and heartless this all about the money this company is... just so you're aware you could have caused my daughter and I our lives. When everybody has come together to help out in a time of need, you decided to freeze my bank account, the absolute only money my 9 year old and I have access too the day we were told that we had to evacuate because of hurricane Irma. I contacted this heartless company and they did not care one bit. Long story short we were unable to leave our home as we were told to do because we are in zone A as we had NO money, no money to buy supplies, no money for gas, no money to leave or even drive to a shelter. I have been out of work now going on a week because there is no power at our office, and still can not leave our home. I am grateful that we lived trough this, but still have no access to my money for almost one month. How do you think I will be able to go out and purchase gas and food???? We have no other family here. Again.. your company is cruel and please take the little money I owe you and do as you please with it, I hope your conscience is clear.

I recently had to deal with Blitt & Gaines, the collection agency for Discover Card, and let me tell you, the experience started off as one of the most toxic interactions I’ve ever encountered. I had just been through a traumatic event in my life and was trying to get things back in order when I called this agency. The first lady I spoke to, who was simply verifying my identity, was incredibly rude and nasty. She made an already difficult situation worse with her toxic attitude. When I asked to speak with her supervisor, I thought things might improve, but unfortunately, it wasn’t much better. Both individuals were extremely condescending and repeatedly made me feel like a bad person for being in this situation. It was truly unbearable, and I was left feeling demoralized. However, after a month or two of trying to navigate this, I finally spoke with a manager named Miss Julie, and let me tell you, she was a ray of sunshine. Julie took the time to talk through everything with me and offered real guidance. She went above and beyond by giving me the names of two people I could contact directly moving forward. I chose to work with Cassandra, and from the moment I spoke with her, things turned around completely. Cassandra was friendly, helpful, and genuinely cared about guiding me through the process. Within just a week or two, I had everything resolved. It made all the difference having someone who treated me like a person, rather than just another case to collect on. While Julie and Cassandra are the reason I’d give this review six stars if I could, I’m holding back from a full five-star rating because of the toxic behavior I experienced from the initial representative and her supervisor. I understand that collections can be a tough business, but there’s absolutely no need for hostility and nastiness. To Julie and Cassandra: Thank you. You made a painful process bearable, and I truly hope Blitt & Gaines recognizes how valuable you are. You treated me with respect and kindness, and that made all the difference. The final settlement amount was nearly the same as what the toxic representatives were demanding, but the difference was that you treated me with decency. If anyone from Blitt & Gaines reads this, please give Julie and Cassandra a raise. They’re the kind of employees who can make your firm more successful.

My experience with Attorney Curtis Ross was nothing short of a nightmare. From the outset, he displayed a level of rudeness and disrespect that was utterly appalling. When I sought clarification on certain legal matters, he dismissed my concerns with the utmost arrogance, labeling my questions as "idiotic." Instead of fulfilling his role as a legal advocate, he left me to fend for myself in court, all the while painting a false picture of me as argumentative. His complete lack of support and guidance was both shocking and deeply disappointing. Save yourself the headache and avoid hiring Curtis Ross at all costs. He is an utter disgrace to the legal profession and will leave you high and dry when you need support the most.

If the answer is "no" pay his $5,000 retainer and $375.00 an hour.

I should have done my research because I am finding now that my review follows a very similar trend reflected in others' reviews. We waited almost 2 weeks for a consultation. At the time of the scheduled appointment, we waited 5 minutes of silence before calling the office and notifying them we were ready for our appointment. They took down our information said they would pass along the message. We waited 10 additional minutes of silence and called again when someone else answered. They took our information down again and said they would pass along the message. I decided to shoot an email as well just in case. We still have not heard a peep from Paul or any of his assistants. Based on our experience and what we see in other's reviews, it appears that Paul neither cares about people nor his reputation. A huge disappointment, especially considering he has been practicing for about 10 years.

Had initial consultation with Mr. Thompson; he agreed to help me with a landlord habitability/civil issue. Told me to get a one-page letter of facts to him but got off the phone before providing me an email address. Was able to finally get him on the phone a few weeks later, only to have him ask if I would call him back as he was super busy. 3 days later, I was able to catch him on the phone again, only to have him tell me he was busy filing a motion and stated he would get right back to me. Have now tried for over 2.5 weeks SIMPLY to get an email address from this guy. Eventually just gave up figuring if he’s this incompetent now, how bad will it eventually get. Apparently, Mr. Thompson has a penchant for not following through on his obligations. Just go to his website; and click on any link other than his home page. You’ll quickly understand just how flaky he truly is.

Mr. Samuel did not analyze and comprehend the facts in my case to come to a logical and fair ruling. He appears to apply personal biases and emotions to come to his final rulings. He did not account for the intent of the parties when the agreement was made as well as made assumptions of what the document should have said (versus what it actually said) before making judgement. I would not recommend him for arbitration or for general counsel.

My husband and I hired Mr. Lombardino 2/2009 because during our initial interview we thought he was the sharp and knowledgeable attorney that we needed to handle a custody, child support and contempt issues. We did notice that Mr. Lombardino only had 1 full time assistant and 2 part time law students working in his office. Since Mr. Lombardino has worked our case he has filed incorrect pleadings, was late for a court date, which had to be re-scheduled because of his tardiness and he still charged us for his time, & does not return phone calls or keep appointments. This attorney will take your money but will not give you proper customer service. A joke. Does not care about fighting for the children ...money hungry. Trust me it's not in the best interest of the children. I have a typed letter my ex showed up at her office 3xs smelling of alcohol. no one did anything about it all i could do is put in an order no consumption of alcohol on parenting time. fast forward almost 5 years later he was in an accident with my 12 year old son, first day of spring break, first 2 hours his blood alcohol was a .28. She Shows up in court worried about her outstanding balance, cozy with my exes attorney. My ex doesn't even pay child support but paid off his Balance so all of a sudden he was a shining star. I'm a single mom, who went to college, graduated and works in the operating room, my salary just covers living expenses. He still lives at home with mommy and they say I'm alienating the children. Again I had so much video, texts, and witnesses and no one would listen. If she is assigned to your case....run.....in fact just find a new County. Genessee is the worst County to get divorced in. My ex refuses to get a job and was ordered to pay 127.00 a month for 3 children. That's not even enough for groceries for a month. I will talk to anyone anytime about my case. I will only recommend one good attorney in that County that is honest... hire Al Zerka..

I hired her several years ago during a very emotional divorce. She did not fight for me or look into the assets my ex husband was hiding even though I had proof. Looking back, she actually took advantage of me being vulnerable. I could have gotten much more out of the divorce but all she cared about was her money. The judge actually questioned my ex husband more than she did and cared more as well. When you hire a divorce attorney, make sure they care about the situation and emotional state you are in. That's when you need your attorney most to protect you.

As other reviewers have mentioned, Ms. Brauer charges high fees, but did very little. She is hard to reach. I don't think she needs new clients, or it's a strategy to make her seem important. In any case, when I asked why they are recommending that I withdraw the case at the end of my ordeal, she (or her assistant) told me that it is because they did not expect the other attorney to do so much research and build such a strong case. Really?

Laurel Brauer and her partner Colleen Hemingway have absolutely no business practicing family law. They present horribly in the courtroom, Ms Brauer stumbles and fails to articulate minor points. Their fees are exorbitant, and they are judgmental, rude, and lazy---they never arrive in the office before 10, and they are never in court either. Ms. Hemingway was buddy buddy with my ex husband, and was blatantly taking his side even though he violated a number of court orders regarding custody. If they had an issue with me, which they did, they should have made their bias known, and I would have sought other counsel, which I did ultimately, but $60,000 later and too late. They refused to represent my interests, and were clearly only experienced in financial issues regarding family law, not custody issues, In a 3 month time frame, they collected over 60k and resolved almost nothing. They were so late in filing emergency orders when my ex husband decided to move against court orders it proved disastrous to my children. They attacked me, my parenting, my personality, my clothes, and my relationships with every person in my life. Ms Hemingway has no children, but dispensed more parenting advice than legal advice, I was mocked and ridiculed by them for taking my kids out for fun weekend events, rescuing and keeping a stray dog, and having big birthday celebrations for the kids. They were supposed to fill adverse interests on the 401k and did not, enabling my ex to move funds and deplete the account. I don't know how they stay in business, but if you are going to pay $500 an hour I suggest you contact an a phenomenal female attorney in Tustin with a great reputation in the courts that actually works to represent your needs. These are two of the most dishonest people I have met in my 2 year divorce nightmare.

I never received a statement from this attorney (for three months) until I fired her (she claimed to not have email for 50 days). The bill was $9,000 for one filing of a boiler plate document and for a very unprofessional letter she sent on my behalf without my approval. The rest of the bill was padded with redundancies and review after review of what? I don't know! She additionally missed a filing deadline with the Court and expected me to pay for drafts of which should have been filed that I never saw. I cannot understand an attorney who claims to have no email for 50 days and whose website has been "temporarily under repair" for weeks on end. There are some very good attorneys out there and Laurel Brauer is not one of them. I have filed for an arbitration hearing regarding my statement and have filed a complaint against her with the Orange County Bar Association. She won't even respond to my letters regarding disputing her fees. She has her associate do so. She also informed me when I hired her that she had an office in Los Angeles. Apparently she does not and has not for some time. Find another lawyer.

I was recommended to Ms Burnett through a free service at Lawmart. She is absolutely the worst case senario. Ms Burnett never met with me to go over my case but suggested to converse by email? I should have known then that she was not going to be effective. Then she showed up one hour and fourty minutes late to the hearing which started without her! I called her and she never responded, I called the Kaine Law Firm who referred her where they also tried reaching her, it was already 1 hour and running the hearing started at 9:00, Once she arrived at 10:40 the judge ripped her apart for being late and she lied saying that she thought the hearing was at 10:00, but she was aware of the time and place, I spoke to her prior to the court date and she assured me that she would be there on time, not only did she not sequester the witnesses, she allowed them to stay in the courtroom and hear each others testimony which eventually hurt me. She was not prepared at all, arriving as late as she did not only meant that she did not have a chance to meet me or meet with me to discuss anything let alone a strategy, or get information from me that would have helped her during her questioning of my accusers. She was so disorganized and preoccupied with trying to find information from her papers that she allowed hear say to get on record, the judge actually stopped the witness and suggested it was hear say before Ms. Burnett realized that the testimony was being given and she should have been objecting to it! When she arrived the Judge had already started to question one of my witnesses and gotten clarity about what the accusers had suggested. I understand that I could have had the same outcome but I paid her to represent me and she did a very poor job of that. I contacted her for her to assist in getting a charge that was dismissed from the court system and she has refused contact, I believe that because it is a part of this case that she has a responsibility to follow up and assure that it has been removed from the system.

Use the link below if you have used her in the capacity as a Psychologist: https://idfpr.illinois.gov/admin/dpr/complaint.html Select “Professional Regulation” and fill out the information in the form. Use the link below if you have used her in the capacity as an Attorney: https://www.iardc.org/Files/Request_For__Investigation.pdf In my opinion Gail is a danger to children and families. In my opinion, she puts children at risk of serious harm. In my opinion she must be stopped.

We used Gail for divorce mediation. She was late for every appointment. She clearly hadn't ever review anything prior to our meetings and then never sent us our final documents. She was supposed to connect us with a lawyer at the end who 'she works with' to finalize and file our case, she did not do that, she completely disappeared once our last payment was sent. I called and emailed many times and no one responded. She was slow during meetings and wasn't much help with any questions we had. If it hadn't been during a pandemic we would have changed mediator. Ours was a simple divorce, I would hate someone in the middle of a stressful divorce to have to deal with this unprofessionalism on top of that.

This women will continue to try to convince you that abuse of your children is okay. She as a mandated reporter will hide abuse in order to assure she will receive a paycheck from you as long as possible. She will make excuses for the abuser and lie to Judges/Child representatives/DCFS, because if the children get removed from the abusive home she loses you as a client. Please make sure to report this woman to the state of Illinois if anything like this has happened to you. A hospital Doctor that had to care for our children said that Dr. Gail Petrich’s actions are “disgusting and she should be ashamed of herself”. We cannot let people like Dr. Gail Petrich continue to practice.

I have used Mr. Fisher in a recent divorce settlement. He is amiable, but I was not impressed with some of his decisions during the divorce process. As a result, I did not get anything near what he promised in the beginning. Most of all, he charges, if not overcharges, for everything. He's also at the end of his career.

I was a client of Mr. Fisher in a divorce settlement. He recommended I sign a settlement agreement to avoid litigation. I did not avoid litigation because some of the terms to which we agreed did not make it to the final version of the agreement. In addition, the language of the agreement was vague and missing specifics on remedies if either party did not uphold the agreement. This led to still continuing legal issues that could have been avoided if Mr. Fisher had been more prepared and represented my interests adequately.

She refuses to give money back on a transaction that was from a seller who lied about his property and then stated he did not want to sell to me. After months of not answering I am taking her to small claims court and to the Bar Association. Do not use this lawyer as she is not a good one

Would have closed on my dream house by now but this lawyer is unresponsive, lies and does not follow through on anything. She's not my lawyer but the seller's. My lawyer is awesome. Took this one over 4 weeks to get the contract for us to sign after much follow-up and threatening to search for other homes. She lied and said that the seller wouldn't do any of the fixes required by my lender. When we reached out to the seller he said everything was taken care of. Now we've been waiting for the fully executed contract for a week after sending my down-payment. My lawyer contacts her daily and still no response. Things that should take days take weeks and months with this office. AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE if you want something done.

This attorney was hired to handle a closing. She did not know how to write a coop contract, did no research in timely manner to provide client with information needed to close, made no effort to find necessary documents, did not answer questions or follow-up on matters, was unavailable for timely meetings and consultation. In sum unqualified to handle anything relating to real estate.

What can I say. Agree with last two reviews except the nice guy part. Before you send him money. He’ll send you cases he “won”. After he gets his money. He’ll start telling you about all the ones he lost. Recommend not recommending.

During an Arbitration he failed to hear key points that I had to ask him did he hear, in short, no he did not. His one on one time was horrible (preparation didn't happen one on one face to face until the day before Arbitration) and he was very forgetful at times. To be honest I needed him to make statements on my behalf for the record because I knew the Arbitration was a wash from the time all lawyers walked out the room for a quick meet and the Arbitrator started making small talk with the Director, who knew from day one he was going to fire me regardless. In Hindsight I wish I never hired him. Very nice guy but way over-confident and he just didn't have the patience to do proper prep face to face and take some direction. A few thousand more I could have hired a specialist who won prior cases but it was too late. The money was gone and 9 years later I just now have enough money to sue the old job who pretty much conspired amongst a group to remove me. Can't really say more publicly do to an upcoming case to make this right, but please don't take what I say alone. Don't make the mistake I did. Do your homework first and look up case files with the right lawyers name attached. A took on Denis because a co-worker used him and this is not a good idea, especially if he is friends with the Jobs lawyer (who he under-estimated) that is coming after you. I don't say that with Malice but it is what it is. If Denis is all you can afford just remember, you get what you pay for, and once the bill is due, you to pay him win or lose regardless if he hypes you up and says he is going to save your job. Be careful. Life decisions when picking a lawyer have lasting affects financially and mentally.

You get what you pay for. He is a nice guy but when you are trying to get an end result regardless of win or lose, he can get deer vision and stop hearing you. Before I knew it, the other side was having a friendly conversation with the Arbitraitor and while my team was out the room. The case was doomed but I needed two points of interest put into the case file. This guy just would not listen.

I gave a 52k retainer, she provided no written agreement despite my requests. It has been over a year now, and she has not even begun to work on my case. She has never returned a call. I learned fast and set up meeting instead. Two days before court I had a meeting with her for 10 minutes, as she was rushing me out. It was very evident she had not even reviewed my file and was very unprepared to defend me.Scary!

She will take your money, have you show up for court and wait all day 6 times only to reschedule, then drop you as a client. I wish i read her reviews before i hired her. not to mention she is impossible to contact and will not communicate with you at all. Do not waste your money on this woman.

She failed to accurately communicate the offers made during our mediation and failed to keep the process moving efficiently and quickly. Way too much irrelevant small talk and wasted time. All of this led to an exponentially larger bill, which she was very rude with attempting to collect in methods not agreed upon.

i used her for a second mediation, during a divorce in which my spouse made over four times more than my yearly income. He was clearly hiding assets and we could prove it. She was very lackadaisical, not firm at all, and in the end proved to be extremly biased. She put no pressure on me to settle and apparently even less on him. then she has no problem asking me for 1,000$ check when my ex's owes over 10k in back child support. i hope she has a great christmas, because my children will not this year...BEWARE if she is assigned as your mediator.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:

  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
