I hired Joe last year to review a potential contract with several complex intellectual property components, including invention assignments, non-disclosure and non-compete clauses. He did a thorough job of going over the various provisions and flagging some of the potential future issues so that I could make an informed decision. Joseph Anthony Dempsey helped wrestle back control and rights of a contract constructed on bad faith. The family suffered impending losses to a company that had a history of fraud. Since the company operates internationally, the legal problem Joseph faced in rescinding the contract were thrice more challenging than if it were an American company. In the end, his efforts and continuous support helped dissuade the company from further damaging the family's good credit history and relieving them of future relationships with the company.

Let me first start out by stating that Joseph Dempsey is truly an excellent and confident lawyer. He is extremely knowledgeable and meticulous about his line of work and has no problem breaking things down or explaining the “ins and outs” of every possible situation that could have arisen in my case.
My case was very complicated and involved a medical debt that I was unaware of at the time and it happened to be against an important family member of mine. Although it was against a family member, Joe was extremely sensitive to the matter but still did a very thorough job leaving no stone unturned in a timely manner.
As I had already mentioned, I was unaware of a medical debt that had been on my record for about 5 years and was only made aware of the situation when applying for a mortgage and was denied. Since I had been served 5 years previously and wasn’t even aware (since I moved several times), I had a default judgment against me and had already lost the case since I did not appear in court. Joe was able to research what had happened, contact the medical group that had sued me, and was able to explain the situation to me in simple terms. Joe was very easy to work with considering I didn’t have any prior knowledge regarding legal matters. Joe was able to prove that I truly did not know that I had been served and not only was he able to have the default judgment vacated which reopened the case, but the medical debt was completely expunged off of my record since I was not the party at blame.
If it were not for Joseph Dempsey’s relentless determination for justice, I would not have been able to relieve over a 25 thousand dollar medical debt that should never have even been in my name in the first place. I am now able to fix my credit and I honestly only have Joe Dempsey to thank.
I highly recommend Joesph Dempsey if you want a lawyer that will stop at nothing to resolve your legal matters.

Mr. Grant represent me in a state tax audit matter. Mr. Grant was able to present the facts to the NC Dept. of Revenue that I did not owe them $20,000 plus in unpaid taxes. Although the State Dept. of Revenue attempted to continue on their witch hunt into my personal financial life, Mr. Grant was able to nip their fishing expedition in the bud by clearly arguing that my income was earned in another state. Mr. Grant is a true advocate for small business owners like myself.

I had debt collectors harassing me for money, I just wanted them to stop. Mr. Grant not only stopped them he sued them and I received a check in the mail. They had to stop reporting on my credit report. He is one of the best lawyers I have dealt with.

Although it may appear that this top rating seems a bit high on the mark, I can state with certainty that Jerry Merola is the real deal when it comes to bankruptcy cases. I was a newbie to the bankruptcy process, nor had I worked with a lawyer before, but Merola + his team walked me through it step by step without leaving me feeling befuddled in any way. Communication was constant, clear, and prompt (esp. via email), and I was well prepped to know what to expect + respond at court. As long as I did my share of the work properly, Merola + his team made sure they did theirs.

Dave represented me against the Washington Dept of Financial Inst and did a great job. He discovered and pointed out the misrepresentation of facts that the dept came up with and when he was done with them, the gentleman that brought up the charges took another job. He was very open with me about the chances of winning or settling and left it up to me. I appreciated that fact that he would go to hearing and not insist that I settle with them. under the circumstances, I really enjoyed my time with him and he made me feel confident that I was making the right decision. My husband and I were nervous about the guardianship process. We had heard horror stories of the lengthy process and the hoops they make people jump through. In 2014 I had an income of a little over $40K. Also in that year, the Nonprofit I worked for as a consultant decided to dissolve and move it's assets to the local community foundation. The community foundation decided to use it's own staff to perform the mission of the now dissolved nonprofit and so I lost my job. In the months that followed, I was unable to find employment at that same level of compensation so lived on the income I had generated in 2014, leaving me with 4 figure tax obligations to the IRS, the State and 3 figure obligation to the City. With my current income at just above $14K, I was truly frightened to even engage any of these entities in a repayment discussion. I contacted South West Michigan Legal Service who referred me to Mr. Toft. Mr. Toft agreed to take my case. Over the weeks that Mr. Toft represented me, he thoroughly explained to me the circumstances of my situation with each entity so I could make fully informed decisions regarding the arrangement I would enter into. He talked with very unkind, uncooperative and even threatening representatives from the IRS. He successfully negotiated payment plans that I can meet based on my current financial situation. Most important to me is that he listened to me and respected and represented me to people I would have no skill to talk with in a reasonable way. He treated me with kindness and dignity at a time when I was not feeling very good about the circumstances in which I found myself. His knowledge of the incredible intricacy of tax law on the Federal, State and Local is extremely extensive. From day one, Tom had my best interest in mind. He spent a lot of time educating me throughout the entire process of removing my name from numerous fraudulent loans. We talked frequently, with many phone calls and in-person meetings to discuss every step, record, and update from both the loan companies and credit bureaus. There was not, at any point, a time where I was not confident that I had the right person working with me to alleviate the headaches and stress of dealing with such a large amount of money and how it could affect my family. I went to Mr Schofner when my Dad's health was starting to fail to help me sort out what I needed to be aware of, not knowing anything about wills or probate matters. A few years ago I contacted Ms. Djordjeski as a recommendation from a friend for some house leasing issues I was having. Ms. Ortega helped defend me against a debt collection lawsuit from Midland Funding LLC. This lawsuit was the first time I had sought legal help.
During my initial meeting, I was already high-strung from thinking about this case. My first impression of Ms. Ortega was that she is experienced and knowledgeable with this type of litigation, and that she commands a strong presence of confidence. I also felt the price for representation was extremely fair. Ms. Ortega even supplied me with very responsive pro bono contacts. After taking day to decide with my spouse, I retained Ms. Ortega.
Ms. Ortega made of point of saying she could only recommend certain courses of action and that she could not guarantee any particular result. The strength with which she emphasized this threw me a bit. My spouse, however, had had a lot of experience with legal proceedings as a guardian ad litem and told me this type of language was very common. My spouse also felt Ms. Ortega was extremely confident and signaled she could definitely take some positive action on this case. Therefore, I was fortunate to see not only the legal disclaimers but also into the confidence behind them, from a different lens.
