Allen has handled a myriad of different cases for me over the span of 25 years. He is well respected by his peers and gets things done. He is an expert in business law and personal issues as well. Allen was willing to spend the time necessary to understand the issues before me and always helped me well beyond my expectiations.

Allen helped me with an urgent case to do with debt collection and bill paying. I was being harrassed to pay for a service that I had found lacking. His intervention and advice were both timely and effective. He solved the matter and saved me $30,000 in unecessary expenses.

Things had been very trying and I was so overwhelmed and frustrated. I was connected with Rubin and things started to look up. He was very helpful and honest. I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of at all. Every time I reached out to him with a question or concern he replied promptly. In my personal opinion, he's a great attorney. If I ever need another attorney I'm going with Rubin.

Mr. Rubin did not act in my best interests regarding my case. I had a difficult time reaching him. He is unorganized and does not have the office staff to fully support him. He didn't work my case the way I wanted and instead took too long to finalize my case. I ended up going with another attorney who finished it much quicker.

Hired Chet to represent me in in a family law matter. My case changed once I received the pleadings. After getting the pleadings, Chet agreed to represent me at an additional cost. I PAID, The week before the hearing I was ghosted him and his firm. My call was accidently picked up, but I was quickly hung up on. The night before the hearing he filed a motion (without my knowledge) causing a delay in the outcome. Chet was utterly un-prepared for the hearing. (Something a 30 minute call would have prevented). When it came time to finish his work, he withdrew. If you are looking for a (-D) Attorney Hire Chet.

I have not encountered many lawyers in my life, but I would say that Chet Southworth, J.D., is the best one, by far, among those I have met. My case took over two years to complete, and Dr. Southworth represented me in this case from start to finish. Dr. Southworth diligently reviewed the available evidence presented to him by me and the opposing party in my case. He did his due diligence in knowing me as a client and empathized with my case and my situation. Chet was very organized, and he presented the available evidence to me clearly and concisely. He conscientiously answered all of my correspondence and followed up with my text messages. Dr. Southworth was a true professional who got the job done while making me feel like one of his most valuable clients. His tenacity and attention to detail resulted in our win in the district court and the continued pursuit of my JP case without further hindrance. I highly recommend Dr. Southworth for your legal matter needs. You will not be disappointed!

She’s watches out for you, and her years of experience show are reflected in how wonderfully you are represented. She gave me my piece of mind back when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. Dawn is the absolute best in Dallas. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. A terrible parent facilitator. I’m not sure whether she is unwilling, or merely lacks confidence to actually facilitate. She is unable to make a professional decision and stick to it. She will do anything to avoid conflict but will take your money without taking a stance. I am imperfect, and at times was in the wrong, but even then she wouldn’t ever “call a spade a spade.” She frequently hides behind the fact the she “isn’t a judge,” so she won’t even make simple clear cut recommendations. A complete waste of my time and money, and a shame that I ended up refiling in Court largely because she is unwilling/unable to stand up and “facilitate” ad it means you may offend one parent. Parents go to PFs when they can’t negotiate, but it’s the kids that ultimately suffer when parent facilitators are ineffective. Ms. Fowler is ineffective as a parent facilitator.

Our title company told us about this law firm when we needed to have the deed re-written so we called and spoke with Vicky. We mentioned that the title company said it would be $80 and Vicky told us it would take about one week. After calling several times during the next few weeks (and having Vicky fail to return my calls), we finally went to pick it up 3 weeks later. However, Vicky only then told us that it would be $100 and that they required cash or check. Getting to our bank off of Calder was impossible before the law firm closed and so we had to wait until the next week! We then asked her about filing it and she told us we needed to take it to the court house. Two hours after going to the court house and realizing we needed more cash and going through the same ordeal of going to our bank, we called Vicky and realized that she neglected to tell us that she could have filed it for us for the same price the court house charged... You should go somewhere else!

When I was fostering I hired Phillip Owens. I told him many times the games DHS was playing because I wanted him to know what he was up against so he knew how serious it was. I did tell him a lot because he needed to really be on top of it. As I was talking he just kept smiling & then looked at my husband & said ‘is she always like that’ & laughed. Within the first 2 minutes of court I knew we’d lose because he was so unprepared. We did lose & when we left the hearing he said ‘Wow, I’ve never seen them go after a client like that before’. Thanks Phil, if I could give zero stars I would. I could not care less that he sued for the money we still owed on the case he did nothing on. I even paid the balance in full WEEKS BEFORE the court date. Once a foster child has been with you for a while they become your own. When they leave it is the equivalent of having a child die and times that now by two (I had 2 beautiful girls). I have been mourning my loss ever since, it is horribly painful to talk about and that is why it took me so long to leave a review. I hired him because of his 5 star reviews but he has the bad ones removed. This is a fact because he did it to mine also.

Phil Owens has represented me multiple times in several hearings involving a very complicated divorce, as well as a personal injury "friendly suit", and other important legal matters. Mr. Owens worked miracles in my divorce, and was a calming influence during stressful hearings, always remaining collected, and redirecting me towards my goals, when I became needlessly focused on the opposing's distracting tactics. He always responds quickly to my calls, and genuinely cares about my situation. I highly recommend Mr Owens.

Thompson is not worth your time and money. He believes the slander from unethical peers rather than the facts and truth of the case and his client's best interests. He will allow you to suffer further due to his negligence, while charging you nonetheless, then drop you due to the damage his negligence caused without accomplishing what he was retained for. He will argue with you, further slandering and damaging you, to defend himself rather than admit any wrong doing. He is not in it to work. He wants easy cases that he will decide what is best for him, not you.

I've worked in sales and in restaurants most of my young adult life. The most important rule I learned while doing so is that anything sales, anything even if it's an annuity is you're selling yourself. You might offer a service but in order to perform said service you sell your client on the idea of YOU. The ladies at reception don't seem to understand that concept at all, and if I was one of the attorneys who had those ladies as my assistants I would do some serious reevaluation. I've never been spoken to or disrespected the way I was by these women. I would highly recommend usinh any other ANY other litigation attorney.

After doing okay business with him for years. He took on a new matter knowing exactly what I was asking for including filing a complaint. Stone and associates are very forthcoming with their recommendations. Each time Mr. Stone represented us in court,, we won!! His guidance, understanding, and interpretation of Rules and Regulations led discussions and showed the path needed to win or to further review facts. As the attorney in fact, he encountered different mind sets in which these mind sets had limited knowledge of proceedings, and were challenging. Through his responsiveness, knowledge, and understanding, Mr. Stone provided approriate and necessary guidance. In hind sight, Mr. Stone was always there and always provided the best guidance.

Duane is an excellent lawyer with a excellent knowledge of PA State HOA law. He has been able to legally recoup delinquent fines and fees for our HOA. He has won every case for us when it has been necessary to go to court. He has correctly given us advice over the nearly 8 years he has been the attorney for our HOA. He returns phone calls to our Board and to lot owners within the HOA. Duane helped the Executive Board - in the early days and months of the Board managing our HOA - to draft working templates for non-compliance and other needed ongoing templates for a wide variety of letters and for other HOA documents. Duane has worked with clients to create effective payment plans for delinquent lot owners and to pay fines for non-compliance. In addition, there have been times when he has waived some of his own fees to better enable lot owners to pay their HOA indebtedness. So he also works with compassion when a certain situation warrants such compassion. When the Board has had questions about a given situation Duane has been able to give us excellent advice and answers and he has even told the Board when they were wrong in their approach to a situation. I would not hesitate to recomend his law firm to any HOA in this area.

I hired Elise to help me with getting unemployment. She offered me a choice to pay a flat fee or a retainer. When asked about her success rate I was told" I always win". She did not believe me in my description of how my former employer treated me. Many times when we were together she would complain aloud of her fee and how little she was making per hour from my case. I had to listen to her complain about opposing counsel and how she will never take another case for unemployment again because she got beat so bad she miscalculated how many hours my case would take. clearly did not listen to my description of how cruel and deceitful my former employer was. I had three signed affidavits proving his disrespectful misogynistic verbal , yet she didn't present it to the unemployment officer. She did not present the case. She did not speak on my behalf at all. She made me speak my case. This is not why you hire a lawyer. She was unprepared when we met the unemployment officer. She defended me not. She allowed opposing counsel to Badger me for 6 hours over three different meetings.. that dragged out for months . When she cross-examined my former employer I believe she concluded her questions within 10 minutes. I purchased the transcript so she could prepare on our appeal. Her written appeal was denied. I wanted to go to trial she wanted me to pay her a retainer. It was not the agreed-upon signed agreement. I listen to her on more than one occasion complain she was making $3 an hour from this case and my stress level would improve if I just had coitus. Unfortunately she didn't say it with such class. When we met she was using an office in the North End of boston. I selected her due to her close proximity of where I live. Every time we met I was asked to drive to Brockton, to sit at a folding table in a makeshift office.. I was scolded and ridiculed about my documentation. I was made to feel very inadequate all the time. We lost because she stopped working for my case after she felt she earned her $500. We lost the first attempt. I asked her to appeal , her written appeal was denied . I wanted to go to trial , she would not without a large retainer. Our interactions were reminiscent of myself being treated as a 5-year-old. She made a mess of my case. Instead of negotiating and working with opposing Council she threw fuel on the Fire and created an insane nightmare that lasted over 4 years after I hired a different lawyer . she allowed the other Council to Badger me and offered zero defense to his attacks. In all other terms it was clear to me she miscalculated how many hours she would have to spend on my case. She did not believe in me. She was more concerned about the second portion of my lawsuit which she wanted me to sue him for the 40% of the business that was promised. She was clearly intrigued of the amount of my yearly commission based salary, and what she thought she could squeak out of him. When I lost my unemployment, she said that was the first time I've ever lost. I asked for her to appeal she wanted more money which was not what we agreed upon.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
