Absolutely pathetic company. The lawyer Jenny Williams was super unprofessional. Had so much attitude for no reason. No manners to talk to her client. She literally hung up on me. Just because I needed to talk to her and she would not come on the phone even if she was in the office. Have never met such a rude and disrespectful experience. Absolutely pathetic. I would give less than 1 star actually

I have made every payment before the due date. I got on the portal today to pay and they have deactivated my account number so I can’t make a payment online or through the telephone payment option. I keep calling and they will not call me back. Last month they said I didn’t make a payment. When I told him I would send him the receipt and my bank statement of proof, he all the sudden saw in the system that I paid. At first I read the reviews and figured that people were just mad because they had to pay money back. I made my payments with confidence that I would have no issues. I was mistaken.

My HOA has this firm on retainer. I sent an email asking our attorney how much he would charge us to write a contract for a project. The reply was 4 quick lines and we were billed $81 for their "services". I can't figure out how else I would have found out the cost of the project without asking. Insane and insulting....we may be shopping for new legal counsel shortly!!

Unprofessional, yells at her kids while on the phone, stopped responding to calls or emails, didn’t get me anything additional and charged me thousands, missed deadlines, didn’t fight for me at all, she is the worst attorney I’ve worked with. I had hired them and mostly spoke to, as i was corrected by their manager, their paralegal. And as she pointed out my charges stemmed from 30+ emails! Well if i had gotten responses the first time one email wouldn’t have led to another!! They also accused me of writing the “bad” reviews, which were just my opinion, in light of my bill. Which was not true either i had always thought of writing a review to let other people know of my experience so they can decide, seems i’m not the only one and i agree with all these other reviews. I was sent a quick email in response to my reviews asking me to take them down also threatening to sue me for incorrect title of their employed paralegal which i stated as a secretary, she answered the phones and responded to me the most in emails so i assumed. They had also mentioned payment arrangements and upon first payment settling for a lesser amount. It wasn’t about the money and as much as i was struggling from not working and trying to get my owcp case going it was never about the money. They got their whole amount through my work man’s comp. It was my idea given to me by the nurse at a kaiser workmans comp dept, to go with my initial complaints on my first visit. And that’s what i wanted was to add those to my case, which i got! Once i figured i could do this on my own I didn’t need them or their fees and it was a waste of my time waiting for them to respond. During this time i expected understanding and patience and sympathy, especially from a firm that knows how hard it is dealing with the Dept of labor and why you are having to deal with them. Yes i had a lot of questions and yes maybe i expected answers sooner rather than later but if i was told to be patient and had someone reach out to me versus me chasing a response i think it would of been different. Tho is not a “bad” review to get back at this company i just feel these high priced company’s sometimes are not the way to go for people like myself a single mom out of work all because someone ran a red light and hit me! i didn’t ask for that!! and maybe i expected a more sympathetic someone with a little pulse! I found one and she is out of state but very attentive over the phone!

I hired his firm because of Dan Goodkin who was referred to me by another attorney. However, I didn’t know they all work on the case including Mr. Brown. One day, I had a call with both attorney’s and Mr. Brown was the most rude and unprofessional attorney Ive ever experienced in my entire life. He literally even yelled at me and we ended up arguing and engaging in a yelling match. OMG! I could not believe how this man was treating me in this call. What a horrible experience!

I am a former Federal Employee who was involved in whistleblowing case. The agency terminated my employment. I initially hired Mr. Brown's law firm, without doing my homework. But who really does in these matters. The firm seemed professional, had a flashy website boasting years of experience. I spoke to Mr. Brown, who assured me the case would take no more than 4-6 months and I would have my job back. 10 months into my MSPB appeal, his firm had charged me three times the normal attorney fees for such a case. (which I found out after firing his firm and hiring another firm in TX.) He was now resulting to using bullying tactics, threatening to drop my case if I would not settle with the Government for virtually nothing. I would strongly encourage anyone looking for representation to look elsewhere. A firm with this amount of professed experience, should be able from day one to give you a fair assessment and not be looking at your pocket book. It seemed at every turn the case was dragging on and fees growing exponentially. After hiring another firm my case was settled in less than 3 months to my satisfaction. I would stay far away from this firm.

I retained katrina foley, I provided all the evidence for my case and paid a substantial amount to her. We were very close to a trial when she quit because she wanted more money. She continuously wants to settle. Is very concerned for how the opposition feels. Disclosed information that hurt my case. When we settled she took close to 90% of my settlement money after she verbally agreed she would not do that.

Katrina did a wonderful job giving the opposing counsel whatever they wanted. She charged me $200 consulting fee. After I retained her as my attorney, I never saw or heard from her until a year and a half later she arrived late for our meeting to prep me for my first deposition ever, it was to be on camera. She met with me for no more than 10 min because her next appointment arrived. After 12-13 hours in mediation she allowed the person we were suing to go home and rest because he was exhausted. While we were to go through his assistant with any settlement offers and his assistant would call the him from his bed while we sat and suffer until midnight. She was reading my evidence while we were in mediation, asking me questions as if it was her first time looking at them. She was FaceTiming an event being held for her, giving a speech in the middle of our mediation. She never once defended our demands the entire process. All she wanted to do was settle on any amount and agreed to any requests the apposing council wanted without even asking me. In our mediation she seemed to be “asking” for our offers rather than demanding our offers. After losing this case, she demanded I sign a non-compete and allowed the defendant to continue running their eligal business out of their home.

The secretary would only take my contact information and credit card and demanded a 275.00 without any information about the case. I suspect I pay 275. sit with this guy and then have him charge me more or tell me he cannot take the case. I have contacted other attorneys who want a background first and offer a free consultation. I saw Erik Strindberg in a newspaper article and felt like that case was similar enough to ours and I was impressed by him. The first meeting was okay. But then it got weird. He could never get our last name right and spelled it wrong on every document and even in emails. How do you continue to spell a semi-common name incorrectly despite signature lines and such? We came in once at his request for hearing prep and he acted like he had no idea who we were and seemed very confused, walking in and out of the room, losing his train of thought frequently and just having no clue about the facts of the case. Not exactly a confidence booster. He treated us like we must be some kind of country bumpkins because we lived in a county other than Salt Lake. He said rude things about the opposing attorney, referring to him as "small time", completely overestimating his own abilities. Plus, he let the STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS LAPSE. Obviously, not a win for us. He seemed to be entirely unaware of the SOL although it was within his specialty. I should have turned him into the Utah state bar.

I should have listened to other reviewers before retaining Attorney Helen Litsas of Arlington, MA, but I fell for the ol' 'this case is a such slam-dunk so I will take it on contingency' - and 'I am confident I will get you what you deserve,' speech. Fast-forward to today which is nearly THREE YEARS LATER, and what I ultimately reaped was a fraction of what she estimated and definitely not worth the frustration and aggravation I suffered working with her. In my personal case, she lacked consistent follow-through which forced me to regularly chase after her for a response to my inquires or to receive any update - and then she would mostly tell me what I wanted to hear. At one point, an entire month had passed without any update from her and no response to my emails, and that became the normal unless I hounded her with communications. I expressed to her several times I was considering dropping my claim or her representation, because I lost confidence in her - but she was always promising to do better. I actually felt bad for her as she is a one-attorney practice and figured she needed the business, but it was a mistake staying. Working with her was literally making me ill from the stress - and I put that in writing to her only to have her respond by promising she'd do better communicating and coaxing me into seeing it through. Ultimately, nothing she initially told me I was entitled to materialized. She made zero progress the first year because she played softball with opposing council by granting them unfettered continuances, even for the purpose of the defendant and their attorney taking family vacations. I finally put my foot down and have more than one email where she promised to not allow them to delay the case any longer and would get tough with opposing council - but it didn't happened. I have worked with other attorneys and have never had the negative experience I had with Ms. Litsas representation. Being forced to constantly battle with my own attorney to protect my interests and communicate with me, became exhausting. I finally agreed to settle for a fraction of what she assured me she could get for me, and only did that because the stress of working with her was too much. To add insult to injury, as the case was concluding and all I was waiting for were documents she was tasked with obtaining from the defendant's council - she bailed on me and this was AFTER she was paid. All of a sudden she claimed I was no longer her client even though she did not obtain the documents from opposing council, which she had agreed was part of her services to me. This has caused me to file a grievance with the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. At this point, I STILL have NOT received the documents and all I am left with is stress, aggravation, and higher blood pressure than I had prior to Ms. Litsas' representation. I should have listened to my gut and regret I didn't find alternate representation. Nothing about her representation was worth the stress she caused, and is continuing to cause. Shop around and take negative reviews seriously before you retain an attorney. I wish I did.

Attorneys Litsas filed a complaint at the MCAD after I had terminated the firms services on 5/25/18 I was recuperating after a serious surgery Oversears. Attorneys Litsas filed the complaint after her services were terminated which is attorney malpractice this filed on 6/6/18. The attorney clearly violated a law. I filed my own rebuttal and hired James Neyman to get a date as it was accepted. I mentioned I am able to negotiate on my behalf as I was seeking reinstatement of employment. Attorney Neyman refused to let the case go. He yells out very loud. James Neyman accepted an offer which I declined and I was placed in a hotel with no food to accept the offer. I was prevented from employment and subsequently placed in a car and assaulted, later strangled, drugs were forced on me and raped. I never take a drug. I have all visuals posted on Yelp on the attorneys involved profile .the attorneys are preventing my employment and damaging my character and not enabling me to be employed. This is unlawful. This not responsible behavior it is Attorney malpractice. We want peace not violence to resolve problems and we don’t want to be threatened threatened by attorneys. This must stop. Jail is their home for being catalyst to a crime. To a heinous crime. We want justice my life matters. We need to stop divide and control and unify ourselves to the grater good of society as lawful citizens and human beings. I look forward to a resolution and more over, to forge to secure aggressively for a bright future and career for myself. I don’t choose to loose out on valuable time. If you continue these actions, I will continue to further amplify the facts and there is no doubt justice will heavily weigh in.

I contacted Atty Mochkatel although she did have a bad review. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. She called me back from my message and the conversation went downhill really quick. Her tone was very dry and I felt like I was being attacked for sharing my experiences/reason for the call which she requested. After feeling very defensive of real experiences I had I stopped our conversation and told her thank you for your time. She sent me an email immediately apologizing for her communication and that her mother was sick. I emailed her back and let her know she should request an associate to assist her when she is unable to perform her duties. I felt she was unprofessional and uncaring. The opposite of what I am looking for. She emailed me again and had her associate call me. However, it is too late. First impressions are lasting ones.

WARNING DO NOT HIRE!!! I initially intended to consult with another lawyer at the firm that was unavailable so I was referred to Ms. Mochkatel. Over the phone she seemed very willing and eager to help but when I met with her that was not the case. She was very negative and condescending. She said I really didn't have a strong case and probably wouldn't get alot of compensation which was fine with me but to her it seemed pointless when to me it was about right and wrong. I thought lawyers were supposed to be positive and uplifting? When the meeting was over she told me she would consult with her colleagues and give me a call the next day. I never heard from her again and I even called twice leaving messages. Instead I had to email her and request she send my paperwork back to me so that I could look elswhere for representation. The worst experience I've ever had with a lawyer!!!

He is a nightmare and only wants to make sure his interests are obtained which is your money. It is a crime that this person who knows the ropes of the legal system quite well employs them for his own benefit. The irony of it is that he promotes himself to be a defender of victims yet he is the worst of it. This individual missed our deadline rendering our $$$K investment null and void with no recourse. Not only that, he was abusive and refused to listen to anything we had to say. I repeat run from this individual and do not ever pay him by the hour. Anyone else is better as despite his obvious long term affiliation with the courts he is a really big travesty as well as being unprepared for trial. You will do all the work and he will bill you for every second. Plus he also knows how to "soak" a client and a situation so that he maximizes his profits. UGH.

When I went to see him the first time, he sounded as if he has been handling discrimination cases for years. 7 months and a few thousand dollars after I provided him with information, sorted out what needs to be done (because he doesn’t want to pay for assistant) nothing was done. He was supposed to get paid for filing and deposition, etc. When I finally realized that he didn’t do anything and asked him to refund me and for my file, he then told me that he asked and was told that legally, I should’ve gone through other venues before I seek a lawyer. Either he deliberately kept asking for money because he’s a con or he doesn’t know the law; either way, he is not someone you want anywhere near your case. To top it off, he told me that he KNOWS that he owes me, that he didn’t do anything but he “can’t afford to repay me” therefore, he will do something for me, like if I wanted to start a non for profit or fill out some forms “a few thousand dollars worth of forms?” rather than give me back what he owes me. Not only that he didn’t pay me back, sespite many calls and requests, he absolutely refuses to give me back my file. He promissed me many times that he'll be there and give them to me, and when I go to the appointment, he either is not there, or he simply tells me that he didn't get a chance to get the BOX from storage! I paid Robert Todd $1200 to draft a privacy policy and client contract. The money was paid up front and I was told that my documents would be completed within the week. A week later, I never heard anything from Robert. I then started calling and emailing, only to reach his assistant, who said he will have him give me a call (which he never did, nor did he respond to my emails) When Robert finally called back, he told me that he had been sick and that is why the documents had not been completed. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I stayed patient, and he said they would be done in 3 more days. 3 days went by and again, nothing from Robert. When I spoke with him he said it's taking longer than he thought it would but I would be extremely happy with the finished product and he would have a rough draft to me on Monday (this was on Friday). Once Tuesday came, with nothing from Robert, I called again and left an email saying that if he does not have it finished then I would like my money back. The next day, he emailed me a copy of the client contract which wasn't even close to matching our needs and what we discussed!!!! I emailed Robert with questions about the document and never heard from him again. Please, if you are looking for an attorney, explore all other options before hiring Robert D. Todd!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
