Leah Mueller has been my legal adviser for over 10 years. I have found her to be one of the most responsive advocates for my non-profit Foundation, business transactions that have involved intellectual property rights, contract negotiations and detailed legal negotiations. Her personal attention and knowledge of a wide range of legal genre including estate planning, non-profit requirements and business practices have helped my companies succeed and indeed thrive because of her due diligence.

Leah and I worked together for over a year on a case. While she was more than happy to collect her fees, she wasn't so interested in actually doing the work. Deadlines were a problem, and her work product was questionable. She failed to prepare the case well, and her results were poor. I would not recommend working with her.

I hire this lawyer when i was 16 yo. I was burned by a local restaurant while i was working for them and Mr. Hernandez took the case and i was thinking that i was going to win this case on the info we had. But its been almost 6 years since the accident and about 4 years since today i haven't heard from Mr. Hernandez. Every single time i try to call him, he does not answer or he " is in a meeting". I am in the military now so i travel ALOT. Everytime I am home on leave, i try stopping by his office or giving him a call, but i never here of him. I just wanted to give my spill on Mr. Hernandez. And you know i live by a pharse the Marines use all the time Semper Fidelis, which means Always Faithful, but right now he aint be faithful. Well i hope this info helps you on picking a good Lawyer

My husband and I cannot begin to thank Carlos and his outstanding staff enough. I had the unfortunate experience of being served w a harassment suit in early August 2023. Despite being extremely busy in superior court at the time Carlos took my case and resolved it in my favor within an extremely short window of time. The plaintiff in my case delayed delivering her documents to late morning of the 1:30 hearing. Carlos’s support staff was able to secure documents and Rocio displayed documents over Zoom for all 3 defendants despite having received them just minutes prior to the hearing. Carlos’s excellent defense was lauded by all 3 parties present. His ability to synthesize and analyze information in the moment was beyond amazing. He and his staff turned what could have been a disaster into a learning opportunity and actually fun day. Plus they have the best snacks ! Needless to say we would not hesitate to recommend Sosa Law Firm or use the again if needed.

There aren't enough words in the English Language to express how grateful I am to have had Borrelli and Associates P.L.L.C represent me on my employment matter. This was my first time needing an employment attorney. In this particular instance, I needed an employment attorney to follow up on a very difficult matter that warranted an extremely experienced firm that handled employment law. Mr. Michael Borrelli, who is the Managing Attorney/Member of the firm assisted me on my case. He responded to each and every question I had and always gave me step by step updates on his communication with the other party. Although very difficult, Mr. Borrelli was able to settle the case in less than 90 days. I would highly recommend anyone who is seeking legal assistance with their employment matter to not hesitate on retaining the services of Borrelli and Associates PLLC. I would also like to add that all the employees at the firm that interacted with via phone and e mail were very generous, respectful and helpful. I really appreciate your help. Thank you again for your assistance Mr. Borrelli!

Attorney (I feel embarrassed even calling him that) Rechard Tegtmeier frequently made excuses and exhibited a lack of diligence in handling my case. Throughout the duration of my interactions with Tegtmeier, I found his behavior to be extremely inappropriate and disrespectful. I had to tell him to withdraw and had a different attorney represent me. He consistently came across as rude and displayed a clear disdain towards individuals of color, including myself. Despite my attempts to maintain professionalism and cooperation, I could sense an underlying prejudice in his demeanor towards me. It became evident to me, and subsequently to others in similar situations, that his representation was marred by discrimination against minority groups. I have since learned that I am not the only individual who has felt marginalized and mistreated by Tegtmeier's actions.

For anyone considering hiring this firm for divorce representation, I highly encourage you to reconsider. Upon retaining them for my own proceeding, I had thought I was hiring the best in Cleveland. In every aspect I felt I was under-represented and there was a complete disregard for communication and explanation of processes. Unanswered emails, phone calls never returned, attempts to reach out to senior partners (that never responded) to try and resolve matters. In short, I can only say that as one of the most stressful situations you will face in life, it is my opinion that you will only be compounding that stress in hiring this firm. A truly disappointing experience.

The intake team and its managers don’t understand legal agreement basics or - at least they try to skirt basic agreement law and those of HIPAA. They attempted to convince me to sign a legal agreement authorizing no legal entity specified to release my PHI, telling me they would “fill it in later” (and yes they informed me this was a recorded line). First of all, the legal agreement is not viable if the legal entity you are permitting to release the information is not specified at the time that you sign. Secondly, it is not in compliance with HIPAA regulations to request that you sign a document authorizing the release of PHI without the medical entity specified, and a third-party stating they would complete the name of the medical entity on your behalf after you sign with no entity specified - especially since they spent half an hour collecting that information and have it in the system, and could have easily populated such in the document. The types of records weren’t even specified. It was a completely blank document. You’d expect the law firm to at least go by the… law.

Feeling robbed by this firm and Mr Ira Silverstein. We hired him for a super sensitive case but he didn’t bother himself to even talk to the person that was in trouble. He was busy with other cases and never told us that he doesn’t have time so we spent crucial time with waiting and he charged us almost $3,000 for going to 1 hearing. Can’t even explain how disappointed I am.

Words can't describe how unhappy we are with this firm. We were referred to Ira Silverstein regarding a very delicate case with a seller our company was under contract with to buy his property. The seller is about to lose his house in pre foreclosure he is the heir of the property inherited from his mother. This attorney did not start the probate till after one month of being hired. He said he was busy and also felt ill. He acted all high and mighty when we hired him and it ended up being the biggest waste of time and money we could have ever spent. We came to him so that he can stop the sale in June which he did and got it postponed till July. He then came back and said our only option is to redeem the property and pay the entire balance ourselves. We hired him to get probate going, file quiet title so that we can purchase this property. We wasted time and now the seller has no other option but to lose his home. There was fraud involved in this case from individuals who tried to steal this sellers deed. Even the attorney who referred us to him was aware of this. We truly feel no one cared AT ALL for this poor seller. He never ecen communicated with the seller!! It's truly a shame and sad he charged us almost 3000 dollars to just go and get a sale postponed for a 1 month. He still drafted the docs for probate and sent it to the seller. I'm speechless and saddened more than anything. And in the end all he did was ask if we wanted his services stopped. Truly did not give 1 damn about anything but the money we paid him in our opinion. So sad and broken for this seller.

This man is awful and his practice is unethical. He got a free 1000 from scamming my family. Didn’t even bother to look up my father’s case we literally paid him 1000 for him to see my father in person and demand more money. He did not look up his case or offer any type of consultation on how we can help my father. BEWARE of this awful unethical attorney that’s ok with scamming families out of their hard earned money.

My wife and I hired her to represent us in a real estate lawsuit initiated by the buyer of our home. However, she failed to fully understand the responsibilities and goals entrusted to her as our attorney. She neglected to interview me, the defendant, as well as the plaintiff and key witness to ensure an accurate understanding of the facts. Furthermore, she did not utilize our retained expert witness, despite our payment for their services. Instead, she repeatedly sought continuations, unnecessarily prolonging the lawsuit.

Not recommend, My experience in dealing with this firm the sence 2019 is they have one managing partner that has become incapable of being upfront with basic cost and adds unnecessary charges. When I first hired this firm cost was upfront and fair. As of late when they say a dollar they charge 2 dollars. Dealing with this managing partner I have found him to be unprofessional and agrumentivite when asked about cost or copies of documents that have been paid for.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
