I cannot speak more highly of an attorney than I can of Monique. She is an amazing person through and through, and an unrelenting, extremely competent attorney. I would highly recommend her to take on any case, as I know from experience that she will never give up, she will shoot straight, and she isn't just in it for the money like so many others. 100% recommended.

My family and I have been working working with Attorney Ridgely Brown for 10 years he has successfully fought our case against the fradulent mortgage companies that have passed our mortgage along to 5 different companies and 6 law firms whose case against us was dismissed. Our mortgage payments were illegally allocated to interest rather than to principle and the mortgage terms were illegal.

Attorney Camilo Ortega is one of the best attorneys I have had the pleasure of handling my affairs. He and his tean of professionals are prompt; courteous; fair; understanding; patient; caring; clear speaking; precise with his legal strategis; provides great legal counsel when you urgently need only a legal guidance. He has handled so far two of my landlord-tenant issues with great judgement and knowledge of the landlord-tenant laws and has helped me resolve both issues peacefully and within a timely manner. Whenever you need any kind of help whether it is just legal counsel on what you need to do with a matter with your currenr or future rental, Mr. Ortega will fight for your right until the end, and give you the best advise towards the best outcome of you case. I do not know what I would've done in my most recent rental issue without his expertise. He is a life safe, legally speaking of course.

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Kaser answer the phone when I called with an unusual real estate question. Instead of having me come in, he actually took the time to listen to my dilemna and gave me advice right over the phone. How often do you get that kind of service from a lawyer anymore? I highly recommend Mr. Kaser and have him now in my cell phone address app. He definately won my trust and respect by not being one of the money grubbers so many lawyers have become. Kudos to you Mr. Kaser! You will be recommended to everyone I know and even those I don't. You made me believe that are still decent lawyers out there!

I've been working all of my adult life--40 years-- and it was not easy for me to have to admit defeat and file for bankruptcy. Joe (Selba) made it easier to face. He is so warm, personable, professional, knowledgeable, caring, trustworthy, sincere and honest. He laid out my options and we discussed and pros and cons of each possibility. Joe's commitment to excellence -- a job well done -- strong work ethic, is reviled by none. Joe (Selba) is my "goto" person for all matters legal. I feel that I not only have an Attorney for life, but a friend for life. I want to be very clear -- this is NOT a paid endorsement. This is first person, honest, from the heart! Thank you Joe for everything! With all good wishes for good health, lasting love and prosperity to you and your family! Always, Amy

We've unfortunately been involved in 3 different lawsuits and had 3 different lawyers. Chris is BY FAR our favorite. Lawsuits inherently suck your money dry and it's hard to feel good about a lawsuit or your lawyer given whatever situation you are dealing with. Chris is incredibly hardworking and thorough. When we first contacted him, we needed a lawsuit filed very quickly as we were approaching an important date that would change the facts on the ground. Chris worked tirelessly to pull together our initial filing to protect our rights and reached out to relevant stakeholders for affidavits, making himself available for several last minute signatures. He also specifically took action to file the case or respond in certain ways given how Covid has changed the way that the courts are functioning in DC (e.g., e-filing vs. going to the court, etc.). Our case was factually and legally complex and he worked for several months to negotiate with the opposing counsel and was extremely communicative with us throughout the process. Going to trial would have been costly and his ability to work with opposing counsel to come to an agreed upon resolution saved us a lot of money, and he was even able to negotiate some of the resolution costs be placed upon the defense, which saved us even more money (and energy!). Lastly, his approach and his demeanor towards us was respectful and thoughtful and made us feel like we were in good hands through the whole process. We would enthusiastically recommend him to others.

Fantastic attorney - excellently handles all my legal affairs. Provides multiple routes, analyzes pros and cons of each, and executed a plan of action like a bull dog. Very humble and highly regarded, also speaks to the human element - he always made me feel, no matter how small some of my issues were, like I was his foremost priority. I would highly recommend Mr. Veracruz, and would continue to seek him all of my future endeavors first.

Yes, I would certainly recommend Mr. Mercer for legal service; and I have. After my lender denied my loan modification, I was lost and in fear of losing my house. Mr. Mercer has successfully helped many borrowers as myself in a difficult hardship situation and so what better person to go to than someone that has proof. For the average person who pays a monthly mortgage, losing a job can be very devastating. That is exactly what happened to me. Although I was fortunate to find another job, my new salary was less than my previous job, which made it very difficult for me to meet my mortgage payments. My financial hardship is one of the criteria’s to qualify for a loan modification so I applied with my lender. After a 3 month process of miss guided information, my loan modification was denied by my lender. Refusing to accept losing my home as an option, I decided to seek alternative options. I came across many counsel services soliciting their guarantee to help but when I called, the people I spoke to were telemarketers with a serious sales pitch. This is when I spoke to my cousin who was successful in modifying his loan and referred me to a lawyer in Sacramento by the name of Eric Andrew Mercer. I called Mr. Mercer, scheduled to meet in person, and the rest was history. During our initial consultation, Mr. Mercer was very clear and concise with the task in hand and the next series of events that is about to unfold. Throughout the whole litigation process, all mortgage payments were seized and most importantly, the end result was everything we hoped for and more. Mr. Mercer successfully modified our loan with a staggering new APR rate of 2%; not only that, about 1/3rd of the total principal was reduced. My family and I are very pleased with Mr. Mercer for saving our home and we cannot thank him enough for his services.

No one really wants to go through bankruptcy but if you have to, or think you do, I highly recommend Debra Quinn. I was very resistant to the idea at first but she made me realize that bankruptcy was not a shameful thing but a legal tool that would help me get back on my financial 'feet' and have a better future. I initially just couldn't imagine how it would work out for me. Ms. Quinn was sensitive to my feelings about my financial situation and after meeting with her I began to feel hopeful. She reviewed the pertinent factors in my case and even with some challenging points, was able to work her way through them, with lasting benefit to me. Ms. Quinn went out of her way to answer my (many) questions and keep me informed about the process every step of the way. Ms. Quinn displays sensitivity and respect for her clients and conveys the message that anyone can find themselves in need of her services. If you choose Ms. Quinn to guide you through the bankruptcy process, you will not be disappointed. Ms. Quinn successfully handled my case to a positive conclusion and in the process, made me feel better about myself and my future. Thanks Debra!

Michael and his staff never estimated their ability to handle this case from day one for me. This is a complicated case dealing with a parents house in a pending 7 year foreclosure case. After much research on his background and reading several of his motions and affirmative defense stradgies in similar type cases I chose him. This a well seasoned team with excellent service skills in all aspects of their office. I highly recommend this team.

I was sued by a debt collector. I must have called and inquired over a dozen law firms in the Chicagoland area. Many did not want to take my case and others wanted an hourly rate or a sum up front. What was different with Michael Goldstein's practice vs. any other firm I had contacted is his payment structure for his representation was based on percentage of savings making it affordable for me to hire him as my attorney. He was professional and understanding with my situation. Throughout the entire process he was diligent in preparing me for court. I personally did not have to step in the court room because he had my case dismissed. I highly recommend Michael Goldstein to anyone in a similar situation.

I was selling a small piece of vacant property to a neighbor I've known and trusted for years. The property wasn't worth much, but my neighbor and I both wanted to make sure all the paperwork was done correctly. We contemplated printing our own documents off of a website, but I've heard too many horror stories of things going wrong years later with the sale of property. So, wanting to make sure my neighbor and I didn't accidentally mess up something in the paperwork on our own, I hired Ms. Fox to handle the closing. As it turns out, there were so many documents we would have never known needed to be signed and notarized, let alone submitted to the county clerk. Ms. Fox and her assistant Alisa were respectful of the fact that some neighbors still operate on handshakes and they didn't do anything to turn the situation into a contentious process. We were able to close in about two weeks, and when we got to Ms. Fox's office, everything was perfectly organized and ready for us. She definitely knows her stuff, and she did a great job of explaining things to us in terms we understood. The whole thing took about 30 minutes (they had sent the documents over ahead of time for us to review). I appreciate that Ms. Fox treated us as though our time was equally valuable as hers. Her retainer was very affordable (in fact, I was expecting it to be a lot more). When I saw how much work she had done at such a reasonable rate I wondered why I had ever thought of NOT using an attorney. Unlike some attorneys, she didn't even charge us for copies of everything. I do a lot of research before I hire somebody or make a significant purchase, and I'll say this: save yourself time and money because I've already done the legwork. Hiring Ms. Fox instead of using those online forms or another attorney was a great decision.

I do not live in Florida and that made choosing a Florida attorney a little more difficult. A Florida family member had passed passed away late in 2014 and we needed to probate the Florida estate. We ended up retaining Mr. Mast after speaking to a number of attorneys. He was by far the most candid and most reasonable. The estate was not particularly complicated and Mr. Mast did not try to embellish or justify why he needed to charge an inflated fee. His fee was most reasonable and his final bill was exactly where he projected it would be. It was refreshing not to hear an attorney "sales pitch" - a tactic that other florida attorneys used to try to justify why their fees should be higher. He was knowledgeable and always promptly responded to our questions. He filed all papers in a timely manner. I have no hesitation in recommending him and I am very glad we retained his services. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
