Run. I didn't even begin to give my background information before Emily repeatedly interrupted me telling me that we did not have a case. Mind you, this was before I even finished explaining the first situation. She even told me that when I was in the hospital and my husband was forced to WORK ON HIS DAY OFF, that he should have used FMLA? Is this lady crazy? I've been told today by several other lawyers that my husband had a solid case but they did not want to take it until he was illegally terminated, as there they would not make enough money out of it to be worth it. Emily Lewis interrupted me multiple times while on a call less than 4 minutes long. If you can't listen to the facts, how can you say my husband doesn't have a case? She would not even let me finish the first instance and there are dozens that are well documented. The company my husband works for even illegally withheld a portion of his first paycheck when he is under contract and is SALARIED. They still have that money! Explain how that is legal, Emily.

I’m rating based on my full years experience with Amelia. While things went great at first- Amelia was very cordial, professional, and empathetic, she saw where I was being mishandled by law enforcement and treated with contempt by them by way of discrimination. She understood that I was being challenged by not only my case, but the bias and prejudice of the courts. She was able to adapt to all of this and got me a great outcome a year ago.
Now I am at the end of the end of this litigious tunnel, and I’ve sought her counsel again to see it through, having filled all of the requirements on my end to do so in the timeframe allotted. I’m not an attorney nor do I portend to know all the ins and outs of the legal system. I don’t know if I need an attorney to represent me to close out my case, but with the system already having a historic prejudice against people like me, I felt it better safe than sorry to be prepared.
This is where it’s all gone sour. I’ve always presented money up front because I don’t expect free counsel. I’ve always just asked how much money Amelia would want to review the same case she represented me on this time last year. If not to represent me, I’d be just as happy to pay to receive her input on what I should expect and what I need to bring to close out my case. That could be as little as 15m-1hr.
My case is due for review in August. This month. I’ve been trying to reach her through her office for months intermittently/ passively, at most 1 email per month, until this past week where I wanted to give it one concerted effort to establish contact. I called the office twice, left two emails, and received the offices answering service once.
We had a 15m consultation scheduled which she no-call no-showed for. Her office assistant thought that was weird and said he left her a message, which also went unanswered. The emails- one to Amelia and one to her assistant, both went unanswered. The answering service said that they’d pass the message along that I was trying to reach her, which also went unanswered.
That was a waste of days of my time I could’ve used trying to find an attorney that was willing to see things through to the end. If Amelia had something against me personally and didn’t want to take the case- the professional thing to do would be to say as much so I’m not spinning wheels on something that isn’t going to budge. Even hearing as much from the paraprofessionals or office staff would have sufficed. My time is valuable, too. Ghosting isn’t a professional behavior. What a sad outcome to end this experience with.

My husband got into a bit of a pickle and we randomly found Maureen on google searches. We had a consultation call with her and she was up front and honest about her ethics, her pricing and if she thought we had a good case or not. She listened to my husband and then she listened to me and what I had to say. It’s literally been like this the entire transaction between us! She’s compassionate, and caring and will give you options but wants to do what YOU want. She showed and up was a bulldog in court when we thought things were going to go south. She fought for justice and what was fair after waiting over six months for a simple video to be sent over, which still hasn’t been done! She brought to light my husband had to forfeit his right on a speedy trial for the lack of evidence that was produced. In 2019 I had a very tough immigration case and I hired another law firm and it didn’t go well, I spend more than 3k and finally my case got denied due to the lawyer’s irresponsible action. A few months later a friends of mine suggested to contact Amsale’s law firm. She was very kind, positive , thoughtful and a good listener. She listened the entire issue with the previous law firm, and what surprised me was her focus to resolve the problem instead of nailing down.
After a brief discussion and consultation, I hired her to represent me the same case which I got denied previously.
It took her shorter time comparing with the previous lawyer and successfully won my case. Not only that, through the entire process of my case with Amsale I was getting an update based on the information timeframe of each steps from immigration office.

At first we had a consultation with different lawyer, who charged us 150$ for a 30 minutes talk, was very unprofessional and left us with more questions than we had before. Yadira Ramirez is an excellent attorney. I was blindsided by false sexual assault allegations. Yadira was always calm, cool and collected. I felt she had my best intentions. She had a lot of patience when I got angry or upset because I didn't understand how the courts work, or how lawyers communicate with the courts, and also the laws. I felt more at ease once when she thoroughly explained how court proceedings take place. Although, I could not ever be fully at ease because of the implications in my case. We had evidence that showed my innocence. But even with that, I still felt anxiety because of how inconsistent the courts in America are. Yadira could have told me that I had a airtight case and that we were going to win in court. But she was honest and said that courts are unpredictable and that she can't guarantee a victory. Which I understand. But she also said that we do have good evidence and that would show favorably for me in court.
Court was set for a Friday, and on Monday my accuser decided she wanted a consent agreement. I did not know what that was, and Yadira thoroughly explained what it was.
The first draft of the consent agreement their attorney sent Yadira was bogus and unfair. Yadira told me to stand firm and not accept the terms. Yadira redlined the document an added language in my favor. Their side sent back another agreement, and Yadira once again said to stand my ground and not accept it...
So finally 2 days before we're supposed to go to court. My accuser and her attorney caved and gave in to our terms and a much more favorable consent agreement, which ended up in a dismissal of my accuser's restraining order against me...
I was extremely anxious and nervous the entire time, 3 months of absolute hell. Yadira gave me my life back and restored a little faith in the legal system. There are lawyers out there that 100% care about their clients and Yadira is absolutely one that cares.
I recommend Yadira for any legal matters regarding restraining orders.

Thomas Ybarra is a highly organized and knowledgeable attorney and I'm so grateful for his attention to detail when it came to my divorce proceedings. He was always honest with me about what to expect and also heard me when I told him what I wanted/needed. It is with great regret that I am leaving a bad review. I was hopeful that he would serve me well based on our initial conversation, however he did not. My case is drug related and on his website it states he has 30 years of experience with drug cases but if you ask around… he’s a traffic lawyer. My vehicle, money, and phones were confiscated and he all but told me I wouldn’t get my car back until after my case was settled but my current lawyer filed a motion and got it back within days. I was told my money would not be returned but again my current lawyer advised me that with proper proof a judge wouldn’t refuse giving back my money(my case is on going will update on how that goes). I essentially paid $3,500 of which I was refunded $1250, for him to appear at court one time and respond to 2 portal messages. After receiving better counsel I feel I have been completely ripped off and will probably be reporting my grievances to the BAR. I don’t know if he was just keeping my expectations low so that he can later over exceed them or if I’m just making excuses for him at this point but I’m really disappointed with his counsel and glad I switched before it was too late.

I pray they do the right thing, this is a horrible situation to be a part of not be able to help, I pray these attorneys will change their ways and decide to do the right thing. Watching a loved one suffer over the holidays (or anytime) from choosing the wrong attorneys is a nightmare. I pray day and night these attorneys will see the light and not cause any more suffering. I am watching a loved one who is a “current or former client”. She is someone who is dear to my heart and being harmed tremendously by your choice of behavior. She won’t write her own review but is so terrified and hurt she can barely get out of bed most days for the last two weeks strictly on account of your choices. I’m sure she will write a review of this path you have chosen continues, but she is too scared to speak up and you need to stop what you have chosen to do to your client. Don’t make excuses replying to google review as I can easily delete this, when what you should be doing is what’s right towards a human’s life. She trusted you. Replying to this with an excuse or any response will only serve to show people you care more about your appearance than helping your client. I hope today is the last day I pray you two do what is right.
