Aaron went above and beyond to help me in my time of need. Aaron was a former classmate of mine who responded to a panic posting that I placed on my facebook the day my ex husband took my son. Having not spoken to him in years- he still gave up his entire weekend along with his partner to help me to get my son back. He also came to my aid on another occasion. He is dedicated, loyal, hard working and an all around amazing person. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Bozelli and Cynthia, this is Scott, SSG, USA, Retired, B.S., O.M., C.A.R.T., your military client in Austin TX, Thank you for writing the most excellent letter of recommendation anyone has ever seen. I get good compliments from that. It's on my website. In August 2023, The US Department of Defense reviewed the attorney case file and read the letters you had sent me over the duration and issued you a Certificate of Recognition for top-notch representation and outstanding attorney-client relationship . As I read the letters myself, I'm reminded how inspiring you were during those days. Accomplishments that otherwise would go unnoticed by the command, you did notice. You were the soldier's command and you were the only connection there was to the military for quite a while. Thank you for accepting my proposed strategy, easily agreeing on issues, and your regular weekly calls to stay in touch. The fact that you asked me questions and sought my advice allowed me to be in control - necessary because there was a lot at stake and I needed to be the one responsible in case things not go as planned. A different attorney, an overly eager egotistical aggressive one or a large law firm, with differences of opinion, would have been a bad choice. This attorney is highly recommended for cases of Constitutional Law.

Chase is an extremely approachable and intelligent attorney who always made himself available to speak with me about my case. Chase was my first point of contact at a law firm after a series of unfortunate circumstances led to my arrest, and I was scared, unsure of the next steps, and worried about the outcome. Chase was reassuring and confident without sugarcoating anything. He easily outlined exactly what needed to be done in terms I understood. After our meeting, I knew I had come to the right place, and I am grateful for all of his assistance (and all of my constant emails he always answered!) during my case.

I retained Mr. Brenner on the advice of another attorney when it became apparent that I was likely to face a frivolous lawsuit from an ex. This was my first experience with civil law, and among my first experiences with retaining an attorney in general. That said, I did not know what to expect, and I was frustrated and scared. Tom did a great job of walking me through the process and letting me vent when necessary. The process makes a glacier look fast! Tom was always available when I needed him and did a great job of explaining things in a way that I understood. Perhaps most importantly, he listened to me, endeavored to understand the uniqueness (perceived or real) of my situation, and then explained my options in a way I could understand, and then let/made me decide on the course of action I thought was best for me prior to making any major moves. Tom knows the system, the players and the process. My general take on the situation was that I wanted to fight since it was my money and my reputation that needed defending. That said, I guess the result is that my perception was that we didn’t fight as hard as possible. However, that MAY be more emotion than reality on my part as the case is now settled in a manner that ultimately was acceptable to me. Once I swallowed that settling may be the best option, I have to say that Tom did an excellent job in those proceedings. INFO I FEEL I NEED TO INCLUDE: No matter who you choose to hire, I strongly recommend that you do your homework and make use of free initial consults to ensure that whoever you choose is a good fit for you. I was shocked by my whole situation, had far too much faith in the system, and did not make good use of these initial consults. If you are hiring an attorney to represent you in Pennsylvania, I recommend that you check here as well: https://www.padisciplinaryboard.org/for-the-public/find-attorney. It is unlikely that you will find an attorney with a history of founded ethical violations since this is a case of attorneys policing their own (something they just don’t do), but I encourage you to check anyway. Lastly, set realistic expectations. It isn’t like on TV—rest assured that attorneys are not going to call out their own. It is a cult, and non-attorneys are on the outside looking in—even though your life and livelihood may depend on it.

As the CEO of The Share Institute, a 501(c)(3) organization, I have had the pleasure of working with many corporate and regulatory attorneys over the years; and, in this light, Ms. Droubi distinguishes herself on the basis of her legal prowess, keen judgment, and vigilant attention to detail. I can focus on fundraising, operations, and doing good because I know with certainty that I will always be in perfect compliance with the law with Ms. Droubi as our external General Counsel. I give her my highest recommendation without reservation.

Simply put, I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Wall. As a law enforcement officer for over 20 years, I have had the opportunity to observe many attorneys in action. Mr. Wall is, without a doubt, the best I have ever seen in a courtroom. He was quick to respond to me on any matter I had. He explained everything to me in laymans terms without all the legal jargon. He never made promises he couldn't keep. He guided me through a complex case that lasted 7 years at the Federal level, including multiple trips to the Federal Appeals court. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Wall. He is the best I have ever seen.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
