If you've been sexually harassed or discriminated against in the workplace... I seriously can't recommend Steven Arenson enough! After countless introductory calls with various attorneys, who only seemed to be interested in money, I thankfully found Steven on Nolo. I hired Attorney Schofield to take over my case from another attorney. I was so beaten down when I finally found Mr Schofield, but he managed to restore my faith in (some of) the legal industry. I was amazed and so relieved at his integrity, expert negotiating, consistent communications, and follow up. He quickly got the best possible results for me in only a couple months after 2 years of previous delays, critical missed filing deadlines, gaslighting, huge retainer fee, fee shifting, and case abandonment by another.
Mr Schofield's assistant is perfectly in sync with him and keeps things running efficiently with her professional and thorough communications. What a great team!
It is very important to deeply research whom you hire - and be sure they don't farm out your case. Check into disciplinary actions and complaints at the Florida Bar and other websites, search online reviews, contact other clients, and review case files. Become familiar with the Rules of Professional Conduct and know your client rights and grounds for malpractice. Hiring the wrong attorney can be very costly and emotionally devastating - at a time when you can afford neither.
Hire Mr Schofield from the start and avoid a lot of needless suffering and expense.

Choosing a lawyer with or without a referral is risky, and reviews can be misleading.
When I Ianded in Steve Glickman's office over a decade ago, cold and without a recommendation, I took the kind of chance that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I got lucky....because of Steve's character. YES, he has deep knowledge, years of experience, and is attentive. Aside from that, Steve has repeatedly proven that he can be trusted. He has unwavering ethics and integrity. At vulnerable points in time, we often can't see through the fog. In retrospect, the empathy and emotional intelligence he applied, that I didn't even realize at the time, is striking. Things could've been a disaster absent his guidance.

I met with Steve a couple of years ago and I have been working with him since then on various employment issues. When I met with him, I had few employees who left the companies that I own, and they were conspiring and determined to sabotage my businesses. Mr. Glickman understood the complexity of the situation very well, and was able to break them away very easily and dissolved their bad intensions.

I highly recommend Vanessa and Dolan Law Firm. After being injured on my bike and hospitalized by a careless motorist, my expectations for any kind of justice or settlement were low because I did not have the motorist’s name or information. Despite not having high hopes, I filled out Dolan’s intake web portal with the details of my injury event. After some phone conversations, I met with Emile Davis at their Oakland office (this was prior to Vanessa joining their team) to discuss the accident, and Emile walked me through the different scenarios and outcomes I could expect, which was very helpful and informative for me as someone who had never taken any previous legal action. Vanessa connected with me soon after she joined the Dolan Law team, and she was professional and clear about how she was going to move my case along. After my medical treatments concluded, Vanessa worked to put together a strongly documented and effective case and kept me informed the whole time. Vanessa’s willingness and commitment to my case was reassuring for me, especially considering the fact that at that point some time had passed and we had still not yet managed to track down the motorist who had injured me, and my hopes for a just resolution were dwindling. I was later incredibly relieved when Vanessa and the Dolan Law team succeeded in finding the motorist’s identity and then brought the necessary documentation and paperwork to the company that the motorist had been driving for. I was later awarded a settlement amount that was significantly more than I had realistically expected. Christine Adams supported me during a particularly tenuous time, in the aftermath of the pandemic and after a prolonged, painful and incredibly debilitating experience with discrimination and retaliation. But what I did not expect to encounter in this relationship, what I truly appreciate and am most deeply impacted by - is her genuine integrity, humanity and compassion. My discussion with Ari Karpf was nothing but eye opening and extremely informative on the situation I was subject to by my employer. He is a very quick learner and after hearing the quick details of my situation gave me the confidence that he would go to bat for me and ensure that my employer would have no choice but to be fair to me. I am averse to conflict, and as Ari understood this he helped me through the options I could use for communication with my employer that met my needs. I recently had an opportunity to work with Ari regarding an adverse employment situation with a public university in Pennsylvania. There are so many things that stand out from my meetings with him.
1) Following my call to his firm, he initially contacted me on a Sunday which worked great for my schedule - I loved his availability.
2) He was personally invested in the assessment of my situation and did a great job asking questions about the circumstances of my case without giving false hope about the strength of my case. He was matter-of-fact and specific.
3) He took incredibly copious notes. About a month passed between my initial phone call with him and me ultimately hiring Ari to assist in navigating my situation. When we met for the second time, I was amazed at the thoroughness and recollection of the details of my case and we were able to get right into the heart of the decision making about how to move forward. And once I hired him we met almost immediately. There was no dust gathering as I worried about my situation. He was action oriented with the goal of moving to resolution.
4) He was clearly willing to do the work necessary to achieve success, but he also suggested ways to move forward that were less threatening to my employer and allowed me to achieve a satisfactory outcome that was timely, financially beneficial, and wasn't litigious.

My case took over 3 years, but never once did I doubt that I was in good hands. Megan and her team were supportive from the very beginning... they took me on as a client after another male-led firm said I have a valid claim but it wasn't worth their time and pursuit. Almost 5 years ago, I went on FMLA and took a short medical leave from my job. My doctor told me that my job was protected and not to worry about missing work. To my surprise, when I returned to work, my employer abruptly changed my job duties and acted mad I had been gone. This was too much and I was an emotional mess. I tried fighting to get my job back to no avail. My sister suggested I call a lawyer. I called the only lawyer I knew in Wisconsin. I begged her for help and she gave me 2 lawyer's names her law firm referred individuals to for employment disputes. Both lawyers I called were awful! They wouldn't listen to my story for more than 5 minutes without cutting me off to say they would charge me to come in and meet with them. That's when I turned to Google and found Attorney Mihelich. I spoke with his secretary first (intake) and then received a call back that same week from Attorney Michelich. He gave me free advice for a meeting with HR and my boss. He also told me he hoped I didn't have to hire him. At the HR/boss meeting, company management ganged up on me and told me I was not a "team player" for complaining. I circled back to Attorney Michelich and within two weeks, my boss got fired, the HR manager resigned and I got a speedy confidential resolution to my problem without having to go to court. I was so impressed that as I moved onto other jobs, I refused to accept unfair treatment knowing that the Employer does not always win. If you're a Wisconsin employee with a dispute, let Attorney Mihelich take it on. You will most likely have to pay by the hour, but it's worth it for peace of mind from the idiots who run some of these companies.

I hired Bob as my attorney after working with him prior on what turned out to be a wrongful termination claim against my employer. I am a senior executive at a large company here in Orange County. Having received a separation offer from the company, I was looking for an attorney to manage the negotiations and potential claims I had in the case.
Ms. Kim was incredibly responsive, reviewed my separation agreement, and evaluated my case in a thorough and professional manner. She gave me suggestions and ideas as to how to best manage a complex negotiation. The most amazing part is she did all of this without charging me anything. She told me that it did not really make sense to have her get involved in something that I could do myself given the facts in the matter. She helped me tremendously by sharing her legal knowledge and helping me get the best settlement possible.
Any other attorney would have gladly charged me thousands of dollars knowing that in the end the results would be the same. Ms. Kim was honest with me and still took the time to be incredibly helpful. I truly appreciate her efforts and HIGHLY RECOMMEND her to anyone who needs employment law help.
It is very difficult to find an employment lawyer who will represent employees. Most of the large firms only want to deal with employers because of the continuing revenue stream. Ms. Kim is a tremendous exception. There are lots of "ambulance chasers" who will tell you they will represent you in an employment law matter, but they are all contingency based and only want to talk if they think they can make significant dollars off of your case.
I found Ms. Kim to be honest, knowledgeable, and acted in my best interests instead of her own. That is a rare find in the law profession these days and I am truly appreciative to her for her help. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a good employment lawyer.
