This man will look you in the eyes tell you he will do all he can. But ended up dragging cases on. For his benefit only. Making you sell anything and everything you can just to get by. But I just got a bill from him. Years after his service. When he was paid in full back then. Some how he is able to get away with. Until he pushes someone to snap. I’m quessing?

He is brilliant, intelligent a great person, sure had fun preparing the case with him as we got closer to the final hearing on a divorce. But when it got down to it as if we got a flat tire and the transmission went out. Some folks tried to warn me. Obviously I did not listen and I am paying dearly. First off, he gave me bad advice on a false protection order that was based on lies & outright false accusations and it resulted an unfair ruling. I compiled evidence of the plaintiff being a manipulator, perjurer, child abuser and slanderer of compelling evidence of my innocence and sent it to his office for submission. None of it was submitted, nor did he object to the courts proceedings. He actually let a junior (novice) attorney in family law (Debra) from the Reese Law Firm run over us (the defense). Its not understandable or comprehensible of how an attorney could be this ineffective or sleep at night with a conscious. I have not spoken to my child in almost 5 years due to his ineptness and his lack of skill to face a fight. He basically cowarded down in circuit court Maybe the courts fixed or still set in the stone age in Arkansas and he knows that a man does not have a chance in ARKANSAS and lawyers are just there to take your money, either way.

3500 cash gets 1 continuous and a staff that laughs and runs interference for him. Best advice for anyone with a clean record that finds themselves in trouble for being old, cantankerous, with the ability to pay, should find another lawyer to represent them. Rex Cronister's staff seems to think your life is a joke they can get their humor from.

Handled a DWI case for me. Charged me over $700 and told me I could get my license back. I had to call numerous times before his secretary would tell me anything at all. Once I got done with court he told me to go the driver control and get my temporary license so I could drive. I went to driver control and was told that a law had been passed that made me lose my license for 6 months no matter what. He never told me about this law, instead took my money and told me false information. After the court case I called him numerous times and never got any word back from him. He is by far the worst lawyer I've ever been to. I'm not out over $700 and have to pay even more money to put an interlock device in my car. He didn't tell me about the law either because he didn't know about the law or because he just wanted to take a little bit more money. By far the worst lawyer I've ever had to deal with and I would never recommend him to anyone, ever.

Used Mr Sanders for my Father's estate. He died in Arkansas, we live in NY. From the very beginning we should have realized his shortcomings and gotten someone else. He had no answers for any questions and we had to do all our own research to be sure we weren't being cheated. He "lost" all sent requested info we provided more than once. We were floored that he was so clueless and of no help over and over again. It took him over a year to settle this estate and he got a good share. He made a horrible event 1,000 times worse with his ineptness. We threw up our hands with disbelief over and over again through this nightmare of an estate settlement. He is not a well informed, attentive lawyer. His secretary covered for him repeatedly because he did not know what to do!! Just find someone else and save yourself extreme frustration.

Law Firms of Little Arkansas In my humble opinion, my experience with Cara L. Miller Law Firm in Little Rock, Arkansas proves it is unworthy of any favorable comments. Dealing with Miller’s law firm was a devastating ordeal. This lawyer claims to be qualified in real estate, bankruptcy, and business law for both professional and individual clients. From my individual client point of view, the firm was not upfront with me regarding its experience and capability to handle my personal affairs and never demonstrated a strong sense of professional knowledge nor the attributes of an effective organization. For example, I was referred to another lawyer associated with this firm, but he was moving to a new job. Despite the poor service I received, the firm overcharged my account.

I hired Mr Treece over 1 year ago because of credit card fraud. I presented all of my information to him initially, and he agreed to take my case. Mr Treece has indeed represented me and the case by the credit card company against me has been dropped. Obviously I am very happy about that, although I do honestly have to say that it really should not have been very difficult to get it dropped as the company had no signatures at all of mine, everything was done over the internet, I did not commit any fraud. Part of my dissatisfaction with Mr Treece stems from the fact that he agreed up front to represent me at any time in the future should I need assistance because the person that committed the fraud has my social security number and had previously done this same thing with another credit card. He is in no way indicating he will continue to assist me as he will not respond to my last 3 e-mails. Mr Treece is very slow to return phone calls and e-mails and I am judging by the lack of his response to my last e-mail that I am no longer his client, without any further notification from him, he has not addressed any of my questions. Although the credit card company has dropped the suit, there is still unsettled business. I am very disappointed in the overall service. I addressed my dissatisfaction with him at least a couple of times, he apologized to me and said that he was going to pay more attention to my case. I have paid on time, done everything I have been asked to do and I think his care of my case, although I do realize it is a small case, is very unprofessional and I feel he misrepresented how he would assist me in the beginning. I would not recommend him as an attorney.

This is the Hoxie City Attorney in natural state of Arkansas. I was released from my volunteer position as a volunteer fire fighter. There are two ways to ve released from the fire depart. One is a very simple non confrontational way that occurs anytime during your 90 day probation. Or you are past your probation and they have to cite cause after exhausting a prescribed disiplinary procedure. So it is a mystery as to why I was let go for cause. I am still in probationary period according to the department even though I disagree. So why was i told there were four seperate complaints against me. Yes complaints I never was told about. Seems weird, but that is what happened. This attorney I use the term loosly was rude to me over the phone. She tried desperately to make me believe I have no legal recource in this matter. The complaints were relayed to me as a pig farmer in black rock - well that is incorrect the complainer is Zack Wilson, who once I process my FOIA with Hoxie, could end up in court for liable or slander. You see there can be no live stock in the city of black rock. Oh well off I go to anouther volunteer fire department, were I wont be released because of a neighbor like Zack Wilson upset over me correctly insisting he cant have pigs in the city limits. I was told to consult with this attorney over the dismissal by my former supervisor on the fire department.

I hired Macy Nuckles to assist me in my divorce after being served divorce papers. I told her before I paid the thousand dollar retainer fee that I needed an attorney that would "go to bat for me." She never responded to that, but she took my case. This attorney did absolutely nothing for me but the worst thing that she did is one week prior to an important court case, she gave me a letter stating that I could either pay another retainer and follow her to her new law firm OR stay with one of her fellow partners. I had no choice but to remain at the firm and go with another attorney there. She also must have known that she had a new position weeks prior, and during this time I was sending her e-mails and asking her questions and getting charged a lot per e-mail racking up a bill that she knew she was never going to follow through with. I would never trust this attorney with my case or anybody else's case because she is dishonest. I am disgusted with her and the way she handled my case.

After I talked to Jason about the matter he was going to handle for me, i felt like i made a good choice. I paid him a retainer of $500 and he was quick to deposit my check. The money was out of my account within hours of me handing it over to him. I talked to him once when the debt collectors kept calling me and i assume he got them to stop calling me. That's about all i can say he helped with. I have no idea what he did to help my case . He Never returned my calls or emails. My fiancee went to his office and asked him to call me with an update. Never happened. So when i received letters stating my debt was with a different collection agency i gave up trying to get my lawyer on the phone.

Erika was extremely nice however just not good at communication and keeping in touch. I hired her to be licensed with the Arkansas board of nursing as I had a complication on my background from 1994. I was never able to get licensed with the Arkansas board of nursing. We we're supposed to take several steps to get me licensed which never occurred. They were supposed to submit to the Attorney generals office for a formal opinion, that never happened. Sometimes she wouldnt return my calls or emails for more than two months at a time. I would not recommend her for representation, if you want someone who communicates well with you, this is not your attorney.

Have been paying rent for 9 mos on apt in Hillcrest owned by Foster. Two words describe this "man": Dirtbag and Slumlord. The place is a "dump". Broken Windows, water seeping up from foundation, black mold, ceiling about to fall in. Mr Foster cares only about collecting rent. He owns 26 dwellings and each is worse than the last one. I don't know how the "man" can sleep at night .. Probably on a mattress stuffed with $$$. Whatever you do don't rent from this man. Repairs won't be made and he refuse to cooperate.

Mr. Donaldson was paid in July 2008 to file bankruptcy for me and continued to have me believe he had done so, after months of waiting and waiting for a court date. He then informed me in March 2009 that he had been lying to me and hadn't yet filed it yet. He said he had just been busy, and mistaked me for another client. Although in order to get in touch with him, I had to make an appointment and come sit face to face with him in his office. At one point he even went so far as to call the court house and see what the hold up was on me receiving my court date, all along knowing that he was lying to me and had still not filed my paperwork. He finally filed my paperwork in March after coming clean and admitting that he had been lying for almost 10 solid months to me. That very date I received a court date, but after 10 months of complete dishonesty and bold face lies- I'm very hesitant on the fact that he will even show up to court to conclude my case.

I hired this lawyer because someone told me he was good. The first thing I noticed was that he never had time for me as a client to discuss the case. He also never kept me updated. Then, he almost forgot my court date and told me that we didn't need witnesses. Well, not having witnesses screwed me, and he came on strong with false lies and promises. When he didn't keep the promises or do what he said he would do I complained and threatened not to pay him anymore. He then said he needed more money to do what I wanted him to do. I sent him more money and still didn't see any results. He also claimed that he would put a Bulldog fight in court, but what I seen was a Poodle. To make things worse, I fired him for being ineffective and was screwed out of approximately $1,500 by him writing the job off with little tedious duties like emails and phone calls just so he could keep my money. Word of warning, if you are in a civil dispute DO NOT HIRE THIS LOUSY LAWYER. I made sure he got his money, but he failed to deliver. I strongly advise anyone reading this to walk away from this one and hire someone else. Remember that you have been warned!!! Sarah G

He cost me over $20,000 in holding cost due to not wanting to sue a contractor to remove a mechanic's lien. He said he didn't like 'my attitude'.. when I refused to settle because I didn't owe the guy anything. Contractor had stated in writing the house would be ready by end of July. By Nov had to fire him to get someone else. Contractor filed mechanic's lien as retaliation. Mr Watt said i'd never win the case and it would cost me 4 times what it actually did. Hired NEW lawyer and won TWICE amount Watt said I 'might' win.

Well, if you like to be ignored he's the man for you. Or if you get a response you receive it from his secretary. Quote, "He told me to tell you......when he has something to tell you he will. " this has been going on for over 2 years. So if you love sitting in Texarkana jail for that long with non committed court date because he's still using that old covid excuse. You go right ahead. This man has given horrible representation. Good luck if you don't heed my advice.

I hired Jerry Larkowski back in Jan 2013 to handle a probate trust issue regarding my father's death. This attorney failed me miserably. When I hired him I specifically instructed him to remove my brother as trustee based on sufficient grounds of breaching fiduciary duties. Mr. Larkowski agreed and I paid him a $1000 retainer. After reviewing my case, Mr. Larkowski charged me more money. This was OK until he refused to do as I instructed which was to file a simple motion get an emergency hearing before a judge and get my brother removed as trustee. Mr. Larkowski charged for every phone call, e-mail, and consultation visit regarding my case and after $3000+ he refused to do as I asked and began "pushing" me into a deal which only benefited the opposing counsel and my brother (trustee). Mr. Larkowski began having a defeatist attitude and would not obey my instructions and my directives. Mr. Larkowski seemed more concerned about protecting the judicial misconduct of the opposing counsel than getting me a new trustee. After wasting over $3000+ on him. I had no choice but to fire him and find another attorney. I do not recommend Mr. Larkowski to anyone. I believe Mr. Larkowski is more concerned about making money than actually taking care of his clients concerns. I do not want anyone else to suffer the mental anguish I suffered back in 2013. Mr. Larkowski had the ability and the knowledge but refused to do it.

When I hired Mr. Roberts, I paid him in full. Mistake!!!! I have never experienced such an unprofessional demeanor. He WILL not return phone calls or answer emails. I hired him in Feb. and in April when I want to know what was going on with my case, I had to call the opposing attorney for info. By the way the opposing attorney had not spoken or rec. any correspondence from him since the day I hired him. Still till this day, he refuses to call me back. In fact if you call his phone, 9 times out of 10, you cant even leave a message. Due to the fact his voice mail is full. He did call me over a month ago to say he was sorry he didnt get back to me, but he been on a 4 week vacation. He did not know what was going on with my caes, but he would call me the next day with information. That was over a month ago. He still has not call me back.

We hired Mr. Harp for a disability case. He acted like everything was in order. We put our trust in him only to find out he was never prepared for court. He bold faced lied to me saying we were postponing our 2nd court date and I even clarified that it was postponed and not closed. He said it was just postponed and we could resume it at a later date. Then a few weeks later we got a letter in the mail stating he closed the actual case. I recommend anyone needing an attorney to find a different one. Mr. Harp does not seem competent now that I have another attorney trying to clean up the mess he made out of my case.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
