Mr. Dummar did an excellent job from start to finish in my family law matter (Divorce, Custody, Child Support). He was accessible and responded to phone calls and e-mails in a timely manner. I would absolutely use Dan again for my lawyer for future legal issues. He comes highly recommended.

I would strongly recommend Dan Dummar. Dan is extremely focused on his clients, as a person, and invests emotion into the case. He never missed an opportunity to make a phone call, write a letter, or do whatever necessary to go above and beyond for us. He was very calmly aggressive with situations he knew were not right and challenged individuals and decisions that were questionable. Dan is a very honest, solid and commendable person. We feel so fortunate to have had him on our side and defending our family.

Jeremy Featherstone and his family law practice can be summed up in a single word: HERO. The machine process of law can be a very slow and drawn out agony (unfortunately most reading this are nodding their head). So I want to offer you some hope. Prior to hiring Jeremy, I had another attorney. Sadly they were simply not getting it done and then someone recommended that I talk to Jeremy Featherstone. What could have stretched out for ANOTHER year or more in choosing to hire new council, Mr. Featherstone wrapped up my in 6 months! I might have paid for a lawyer but what I got was a friend who cared about me and my case. He kept me out of jail; gave me my life back; even got me to-and-from airport to make sure I was in court on time. THAT IS DELIVERING ON A PROMISE. Thank you Jeremy. -eastcoaster, 2016

I found Seth Platts a very knowledgeable and perfect Lawyer when he represented us in the court against a protection protection that the other party filed against us. He really used his expertise to explain the whole situation in court and made it clear in front of the judge what was right. In addition, he listened to us in all our meetings with respect. I do recommend him if you need to hire a lawyer or a counselling because he is an excellent Lawyer with no doubt in Twin Falls, Idaho.

My experience with Paul Clark was nothing short of outstanding. He was very thorough and knew how to put my case together. After a short time my hearing was scheduled and my case was won. I was shocked, overwhelmed and so grateful after going through the pain and misery of being disabled and feeling like there's nothing I could do. I highly recommend Paul Clark for anyone who needs help with a disability.

Without boring anyone on to much detail, I found Mr. Ericksons representation more than satisfying. I was in California when a warrant had finally been issued in Idaho for my arrest, having missed a court date regarding a petty theft arrest months prior. I did not know about the warrant because documents had been mailed to a previous address, and I dropped the ball big time by not making the original court date. Not until I got a stop sign ticket in California did the officer inform me there was a warrant in Idaho with my name on it. It was a misdemeanor warrant so he wasn't going to do anything about, just told me to take care of it. I looked online and made a call Mr. Erickson's office. I left a message with his secretary and got a call back about a week later (that's why he only got 4 stars on "responsiveness"). After a straightforward discussion regarding all the facts, his fee's, and expected outcome; I mailed his office a check for retainer. One thing that I found pleasantly surprising was his openness and honesty with me. He told me exactly what his plan was, how much time he expected it to take, and in the end it was pretty much what he said. Being out of state, I was really relying on him to get this done for me and he definitely delivered. He met with the county prosecutor (or DA, I don't remember), got charges dropped, got warrants quashed, and got my name cleared. The icing on the cake was I got some retainer back. I expected to get a bill for a little over the retainer amount, but he didn't even use it all up. In the closing documents he sent I received an itemized list of his billing hours down to the 10 minute block. I have already recommended Mr. Erickson to a member of my family still living in Idaho, and I would recommend him again if need be.

Kathleen is an incredibly sensible, skilled, and practiced attorney with years of experience. The most striking qualities from her representation were her dedication to my case, it felt like I was her only case any time we spoke; her ferocity against unreasonable requests (mine or the prosecution); the enormous previous experience she brought to my case after years of working other cases both locally to my case and elsewhere in the nation. Never had I felt personally cared for in my previous legal experience with other attorneys. I hired her as my representation for my 3rd DUI in Idaho, which is considered a felony. She advocated I attend in-patient treatment and to have an alcohol-detection device after treatment completion until sentencing rather than waiting in jail, which I did. Afterwards, she encouraged me to attend AA and strictly follow the conditions of my pre-sentence release so when sentencing arrived I was able to avoid spending time in prison and receive a period of felony probation instead. After completing probation she helped me research and reach out to international entities to search for potential restrictions as my job requires international travel. Never during our professional relationship did I think she may not be "doing enough" or not have my best interests in mind. I have endless glowing remarks for her professionalism and attention.

these are adjectives not normally expected when in search of a lawyer, but indeed, Lisa Holmes is exactly that; caring and generous. she took the time to explain in detail why the documents, and wordings thereof, were necessary. she gave me pertinent details to help me make necessary decisions. When it was all over, she presented me with a bill that absolutely floored me, one very much lower than expected from perusing countless google articles. I am happy to find a place like this to express my appreciation.

My wife and I are professionals that came to the US with a student visa and H1 visa, respectively. Adam did a great job and took us step by step through the complicated immigration system. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
