Anne is intelligent and fierce. She is easy to talk to, and most importantly, she is genuine. As I'm sure you know, the latter isn't something to be said of most attorneys. Words cannot describe how much she has done for my daughter and I. Our situation was intense and not the easiest case, but Anne knew exactly how to handle it and she did it with such class. I am eternally grateful for both Anne and her partner Tom, and I highly recommend Coladarci and Coladarci to anyone in need.

Nicole is absolutely amazing!! She knows what she is doing and has the experience to back it up. She was a fierce and confident ally in my post-divorce case and was able to explain the system so clearly. It helped relieve a lot of my stress and increased my confidence in the pending outcome. She is extremely organized and a clear communicator who is not intimidated by bully ex-spouses and their legal representation. I am so grateful for her advocacy in my case and absolutely, highly recommend her.

There are a few times in my life where hindsight was 20-20. Looking back, one of the biggest mistakes I made was not having Dick Kates defend me in a very complicated white-collar criminal case. Dick had defended my closed down school against a class-action brought on by students, but perpetrated by greedy attorneys. Dick was quick to evaluate our situation and formulated a defense. Back in the 1990s, Dick was a bit gruff, not computer friendly or the least bit pretentious, but he worked fervently on our case for three years, getting it dismissed in federal court. He also came to our rescue when we were indicted on 32 counts by the federal government. Seeing the United States of America vs. little guy and knowing that the government wins over 95% of its cases will put the fear of God into you. Kates jumped right in immediately upon our request calling US Attorneys and federal judges. He knew for a fact that we were innocent and was fervent in his approach filing motion after motion without the use of computer technology. Unfortunately, I believed we needed the absolute best, most sophisticated, renowned litigator and law firm. Dick, the gentleman that he is bowed out, recommending an attorney who was named one of the nation's top 10 litigators by the National Law Journal. He was elected as a fellow and to the boards of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Tax Counsel and the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. He defended the likes of Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa, mobster Allen Dorfman, Operation Greylord Judge John Reynolds. We spent and hocked and worked for and traded everything we could to get this attorney and his law firm to defend us. Unfortunately, like I said before it was the wrong decision, and I lost everything – my credibility, my wife, millions of dollars, my homes boats cars. I was sentenced to jail for 53 months and have been paying restitution that totals almost $2 million ever since. My point is if you are looking for a great attorney, look beyond the gruff and technical abilities, look for character, knowledge, someone who's not afraid to work or stand up for you, someone who will fight in the trenches, be loyal to your cause much more than chasing the Almighty Buck. That's Attorney Dick Kates. (I wonder if I ever said thank you)

When I first met with Cliff Lund I was contemplating divorce. He was kind enough to meet with me and explain the process as well as inform me of my rights as a stay at home mother. Needless to say I was extremely nervous but he immediately made me feel comfortable. Over the next year I contacted him many times with questions and concerns. He returned my calls and emails promptly even though I was yet to be an actual client. He never seemed bothered or put out. He did not fit the negative stereo type that I was expecting in an attorney. After a year I proceeded with my divorce and Cliff represented me. Anyone who has been through a divorce knows that it is not a lot of fun. Cliff was always available to me to address my worries and to calm my fears. Again, he took my calls and responded to my emails quickly. He advised me in a professional yet human way which made the process that much more bearable. Cliff looked out for my best interests as well as those of my children. He really looked out for all of us, including my ex-husband. I wanted a fair and equitable divorce and he guided me through the process and made it happen. I have been divorced now for several months and I continue to contact him when an issue arises. He says it is never a bother. I will and have recommended Mr. Lund to anyone looking for an attorney who is a person first, lawyer second. I will seek his services in the future anytime I am in need of legal assistance.

Melissa recently handled our second parent adoption. From the moment we first spoke with Melissa, we knew we were in capable hands. She took her time explaining the entire process to us and patiently and quickly answered any questions we came up with along the way. We found her to be incredibly approachable and knowledgeable. She updated us every step of the way and we felt calm and comfortable on the day of hearing. The entire process was quick and smooth - the result of Melissa's diligence and attention. I would definitely recommend her to anyone with family law needs!

I worked with Drew for 6 years, as an employee of a large consumer products company, and Drew made himself available, seemingly, at any time during any given work-week. Drew worked seamlessly and efficiently, also drawing from his experienced colleagues, during collaborative endeavors to give me an even greater perspective and reduce project timelines. He has a strong technical background with many years of case-driven experience, giving the client a true bargain for what they are receiving. Drew's personality is conducive to an efficient, lively experience, yielding positive, time-tested results. Drew dealt with many complex topics with us, including; international Trade Dress issues, Chemical compounds and applications, mechanical inventions, and many design-patent applications. As a distinguished IP attorney, drew aggressively pursues infringing offenders with incredibly sound arguments, just as well as he is able to, and I think, more importantly, anticipate infringement and build in a wide safety net within your IP position. Drew is a joy to work with and I highly recommend him.

Michelle and Kathleen helped us update our living will and worked attentively, and patiently, with us to ensure that all of our questions and concerns were addressed within our legal document. We had a lot of back and forth conversation in which they were incredibly helpful in allowing us to fully understand the legal ramifications of each choice we were making with the structuring of our will. At the same time, they are incredibly professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

We were out-of-state, and Sharon handled a tricky real estate sale for us without ever seeing our faces. She was precise, patient, and did a good job of watching out for the details we missed. She also listened well, so she understood the issues and we felt confident in the outcome. Most of all, she was practical in her recommendations, balancing the laws, common sense, and people skills to make a successful negotiation and close possible. Highly recommended!

I was referred to Mr. Butts through my new neighbor I recently was a 1st time home buyer who did not have any knowledge about the law, and what happens after you purchase a home from a seller that did not disclose the defects in my home. I had serious issues with my new home and my closing lawyer was not up to assisting after he already had gotten his pay. Mr Butts, helped me settle my case. If you want a honest, great attorney with good moral values he is the lawyer for you. I highly recommend him, his knowledge and integrity is outstanding!

I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend Alyson Kupari to anyone looking for a thoroughly professional and hard-working attorney. Furthermore, my situation was one which was not directly in her primary legal specialties of estate law and military law, yet she has handled it wonderfully.

Bruce is a Rolodex of legal knowledge, he is always around to give you good advice, and solve problems, when you need him. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
