My wife passed away on August 12, 2016. Our living trust was 5 years old on August 11, 2016, so on completion of the necessary trust administration occasioned by my wife’s passing, I agreed to a restatement of the trust to reflect pertinent changes which had taken place in the 5 years since the trust was formed. I found the firm’s representative to be responsive, thorough and highly professional in all respects.

My wife and I established separate trusts and updated estate documents through an effort that was completed in October 2017. In December 2017 my wife exhibited maladies that were diagnosed as Metastatic Melanoma. After several weeks in hospice, she passed away on Christmas Day 2017. How quickly one's world can be turned upside down....and how grateful I have been to have had current, complete estate documents through which I can, as trustee, manage the resulting estate affairs. Colleen Prosser, along with Crystal, helped us to update our estate documents. It was very comforting to have someone like Colleen who has extensive background in estate law to formulate and implement a trust structure and provisions that allows effective management by me as trustee. The carefully crafted documents also lay the groundwork for transition to alternative designated trustees should I pass or become incapable of decision making. These documents provide piece of mind that I am leaving a "tight ship" that can be easily passed on and sustained. Colleen was very helpful in assessing approaches that best fit our assets and financial resources. As with everyone my wife and I met at Sinclair Prosser, she was very competent, pleasant, patient, and helpful.

I would highly recommend Joseph Mathis to anyone considering an attorney for a matter. Period. I have been a paralegal for the past 25 years in Washington state, but lacked a referral from any sources to handle the probate of my stepmother in Maryland. I found Mr. Mathis just as you are doing now by reading his reviews on AVVO. I was compelled by the online review to contact him and I was not disappointed in any area of representation. My case involved the probate of my stepmother’s estate. My father pre-deceased my stepmother, but my father’s estate was not probated based on the assumption that my stepmother would “do the right thing” by my father. This was my father’s third wife, but he also had been married to her for over 30 years. She had no children of her own, her parents had pre-deceased her and she was estranged from her sister for over a decade, if not longer. My step-mother did sign a will within months of my father’s passing that accomplished doing the “right thing”, however, due to either her severe alcoholism or undue pressure/influence from “friends”, she changed her will to exclude all three of my father’s children and leave her estate to three of her “friends”. Two of these friends hadn’t been part of her life for over five years and one of them was my father’s friend who she had been “dating” after my father’s passing. After she passed away, we discovered that my stepmother’s alcoholism was more severe than anyone thought it to be. It was on this fact that I pursued investigating a will contest, aka caveat proceeding, with Mr. Mathis. Based upon my stepmother’s severe change in behavior, her self-isolation, and new discovered high level of alcoholism, I truly believed that my stepmother was not in her right state of mind when she signed the second will. . In addition to my stepmother signing the new will two years after my father’s passing and 4 years before she passed, we were told by her attorney that she had sent a letter to him that stated that none of her deceased husband’s family were to inherit from her estate. In the end the land my grandfather gifted to my father in the early 70s (pre-marriage to my step-mother) where he and my father built the only home my father’s children knew, and the only piece of land my father grew up on from age 12, was sold and the proceeds split between “friends”. I was forced to purchase a few of my father’s guns from my stepmother’s estate. I found out about the auction of my father’s items the morning of the auction. Obviously, I couldn’t get to Gettysburg from the West Coast in time. I emailed and called Mr. Mathis’ office at 6:00 am (PST) and Mr. Mathis called the personal representative’s attorney to see about stopping the auction or what options might be available to us. There was nothing I could do but bid on my father’s property. I called Mr. Mathis in tears this day to tell him how things went. I had to leave him a message with my crying voice. He was so kind, he called me after hours to see how I was doing. All of this hurt my heart wickedly, but I cannot say enough positive things about Mr. Mathis’ handling of this case. When we discovered the letter plus the new will of my step-mother, Mr. Mathis was very honest with me about worrying about the amount of money it might take to fight the will with this new information plus the probability of not being able to “win”. Mr. Mathis could have simply told me a retainer amount and taken my money, however, he admitted he was concerned about the costs versus the probability of winning. This is the mark of a truly great attorney. Based on my experience, a great attorney is more concerned about the negative affect on his/her client’s versus being paid a fee in a probable no win situation. I recommend Mr. Mathis for any legal matter you seek counsel on without any reservation!!!

Mr Mathis is a very knowledgable, easy going estate planner. He was able to explain many things in simple terms and my 87 year old mom thought he was great too!

Lauren Leffler was just the attorney my family needed. My spouse and I approached her with the thought we were making small edits to our wills, but she helped us realize that we needed a full revamp. She was really knowledgeable about our unique needs and we feel secure that our wishes will be upheld thanks to our documents that she created. It would not have happened with the old ones. We’re so relieved to have found her! A few months later, we needed to update my parents’ documents, this was much more of a time crunch than ours. After our good experience, I reached out to her for help. She got their documents done with the speed we needed. She was equally knowledgeable about my parents’ needs, which were very different from my own. We’ve been doing a lot of meetings for my parents these days getting their affairs tidied up, and Lauren has been the only one who has come to the initial consultation meeting having read their existing documents in advance. Their office is easy to get to, but for my housebound parents, she came to their apartment. My sibling plans to use Lauren to update their documents, my other sibling who lives out of state is disappointed they can’t use her (they asked). We’ll definitely call Lauren in the future for any needs that arise.

I hired Lauren to help me with a guardianship case. There are not enough good things I can possibly say about my experience with her. She gave immediate attention to all the items needed in the case and returned emails and phone calls quickly. She seemed to always be one step ahead of the case. Her and her staff made this an easier than I anticipated experience. Not only is she knowledgeable and professional but she really cares about you and the parties involved. Ms Alexander not only got me released from jail she also got a not guilty verdict at my trial. I have hired her to represent me again in an upcoming trial as well. From day 1 she was very passionate about her job. Her assistant Ms Sharon is a very helpful and friendly person as well.

First off I had a warrant for my arrest. I contacted Craig Kadish and hired him to represent me. Within 2 days the warrant was squashed and I had a court date issued. I allegedly owed $5,000 for damages to the car that was taken. At the first appearance we made a deal that didn't require me to plead guilty, which I was very happy about. At the second and final appearance the plaintiff didn't even show up! I can't promise that Craig will make your plaintiff disappear but he sure made mine!!!!! Thanks for your help in this matter.

Mr. Kadish recently represented me in a case in Howard County (one of the tougher counties in Maryland). He assured me that he would do his best to get the favorable outcome available for the felony I was charged with. The outcome was more than expected. Mr. Flohr was hired by our family to navigate the sticky, complicated mess that our loved one got into due to his mental health issues. There were three separate cases all at once. Mr. Flohr took time out to talk to multiple family members to understand the situation at home. He not only empathized but was compassionate about our difficult situation. On multiple occasions we were able to reach out to Chris over phone, email, and text to get updates or provide him with relevant information. I was given a referral to Chris and I went to see him at the lowest time in my life. He spent 2 hours with me going over my case and he REALLY listened to me. It was like talking to a friend/therapist/lawyer. He REALLY cared. He knew the pros and cons of different approaches because he's been doing it for so long. He knows the courtroom and I can see where he would have been a pitbull if I needed him to be. Chris was very responsive throughout the process as well. He was reassuring and a beacon of hope. I consulted with this attorney, and although I don't think I am the right fit as a client of their firm, I do think I would've came out on top with this gentleman in my corner. We talked for a little over 34 minutes and in that time he shared valuable knowledge about how we could go about this, what the possible outcomes could be, what to expect price wise, and even strategy wise in regards to meeting with his team. He also seemed very upbeat and on the ball with getting all of the relevant information and determining how to utilize it in the most effective ways. I thank you for your time and the service you are providing to our community. He also talked about how their firm is asked by the Bar association to donate and how they attend some government officials yearly parties and such, meaning they are also well connected with these people and work with them regularly. The only reason I couldn't go with this guy (although I wanted to) was the price - and I'm not saying him and his firm aren't worth it, I truly believe they are, but as a ~21 year old (staying vague for privacy) saving up for a car the price he told me was 1/4 of what I received from insurance for my totaled vehicle, and I just couldn't at this time justify that purchase in my head when I am needing other, tangible assets at this time. I was frank with him and more or less told him this, and he tried to assure me it was worth it to not risk losing my freedoms or having this backfire, which I don't disagree with, but again, I can't justify that spending on a single day in court for something I didn't even do... Thanks again to Thomas for teaching out, not only once, but twice after I missed his call and couldn't catch him when I returned it. Maybe someday in the future when I am more financially stable I will utilize your services to the fullest!

I had two cases with mister Papirmeister. In both cases he got me no jail time. My first gun case he got me three years probation no jail time. My second gun case he won my motion to suppress evidence which ended up getting the case thrown out. Overall a good man who cares for his clients.

What stands out the most about Mr. Papirmeister isn’t just his reputation and understanding of criminal law, though, both are impressive. It isn’t even that he gets results, though, he definitely does. The thing that told us we had the right attorney was the genuine empathy he displayed from the first consultation to the final hearing. He takes the time to explain what he’s doing and why, and conveys genuine concern for all parties involved.

He was very well focused on the goal when he was in the court room. My husband was facing a firearms felony charge that could of affected us all including family and friends. Mr. Papirmeister worked his magic in there and my husband with all of his good behavior as well and James by his side he was able to get probation. My guess that usually does not happen. But, James Papirmeister made it possible. Mr. Felsen was absolutely amazing! He went over and beyond his call of duty for me, ended up taking on an additional surprise case, and stepped in for my bond hearing. He worked over the weekend to ensure my needs were met for my cases. He even delivered our evidence to the court room in a snowstorm for the next day. Mr. Felsen gave me both the pros and cons to each decision that would be made on my end. He was a diamond in a rough. I wasnt just another number to him. I could tell he truly cared. He also is a monster in the court room and knows law very well. He knows when to be aggressive. My situation is very weird and was a challenging one, but he came through and won our cases. I wish I could give 10 stars. Engaging Barry to help me with my 2 DUI cases was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Barry handled my cases effectively and gracefully. He has helped me to get the lightest sentences possible !!! I actually think the results were better than the lightest sentences possible. Because of COVID, the court had to change my court dates and the process dragged longer than expected, but Barry and his legal assistant Melanie have always made themselves available whenever I need them. I was facing sexual assault charges and had plead guilty to a misdemeanor with another lawyer. With the plea, I was required to register as a sex offender. this was the absolute worst time of my life. My only chance out of this situation would be a successful reconsideration appeal. I needed a lawyer who was top notch and experienced. I choose Barry Helfand and he did not disappoint. Two months later I was scheduled a hearing and Barry was able to get me a PBJ. I had a unique situation where I had a tenant move out of an owner occupant property in Baltimore city. The tenant was a nightmare to deal with. Anything she could do to postpone, or take responsibility for her actions, she would do. Ian and his team worked diligently enforcing the legal side and made sure I was in the loop of every step of the process. Mr. Ealley is truly a life saver. He walked me step to step over my Chapter 13. At first, I was lost and emotional about it, but Mr. Ealley dealt with my situation with compassion and professionalism by reassuring that 1) I would not lose my job, 2) that I could keep my house, and 3) that I was not the only one in this situation and that I would be OK again! Mr. Ealley went above and behind to secure the payments I could afford. He always made himself available when I needed to talk to him, both in person and via phone. Meg was recommended to me and handled my contentious protracted divorce. She was extremely responsive and had a special ability to "calm" the emotions and stay focused on the case issues. I felt well supported by her, and she answered all my questions. She hung in there as an advocate no matter how hard it got or how obstructive my ex-husband was. I had met several family law attorneys in the past through the Montgomery County Bar Association, and 2 years later when my (ex-)husband and I decided to get divorced, she was top of mind. Before contacting her, I did still do my due diligence, researching her credentials and online reviews, including on avvo.com – an online directory of attorneys. Dorothy had a 10/10 Avvo rating, which is based not only on client reviews, but also on recognition from the legal community, years of experience, and leadership activities. It’s not easy to get a 10/10 rating, so off I went to request a complimentary consultation from Dorothy. After meeting and hiring Dorothy, the divorce proceeded smoothly. Dorothy R Fait was my lawyer in an extremely difficult divorce involving child custody. She advised me throughout the process without any issues; very responsive and responsible professional. All my questions and urgent requests were answered immediately, she never made me wait - which is a very important factor in high conflict cases. She paid a lot of attention to details and brought out important facts in the argument, without getting into petty exchanges. She protected mine and my children's interest, and thanks to her I have an exceptionally detailed settlement agreement and a court order that covers all aspects of our life to prevent any possible issues. During the most horrible time of my life, Erin Kopelman was there for me every step of the way, from the beginning consultation, to the final court proceedings and paperwork. Erin was my divorce attorney through an extremely messy and contentious situation. During the entire process she was unfailingly patient with me, taking the time to explain some of the more arcane or complex parts of the process to me so that I could better understand (and be responsive to) the many requests by the Court for documents. In addition, Erin was able to rise above the acrimony of the situation and was a constant advocate for fair, negotiated approaches to closing the gap between the parties. Mr. Pearlstein and Ms. Renehan handled my case very professionally, responsively, and with great knowledge. My case was unique as I needed to transfer custody from another state to Maryland, which required a thorough modification. Having both of them made me feel safe and heard. "In my opinion divorce is one of the lowest points in one's life, much like death. Faced with divorce, emotions are heightened, there is anger, resentment and the list goes on and one loses the ability to think clearly and rationally. The wrong attorney uses these emotions and feeds it to build billable hours. The wrong attorney promises things that most often they know they can't deliver, again, just to build billable hours. At the end of last October my marriage started to unravel and suddenly within one weeks it came to an end. I was faced with having to hire an attorney. I always do lots of research before doing anything but time was not on my side. I studied the web, looked up many attorneys, read their bios, and read reviews as much as I could. I narrowed the field down to seven attorneys and tried to talk with them or to meet with them. Several of them never returned my call. I made an appointment with five. I had the good fortune to meet with Mr. Pearlstein as my second appointment and after leaving his office I cancelled all other appointments. He was and is amazing. He listened to me attentively, he never gave me false promises. What I really appreciated was that he did not take the position of let's fry the other side, and let's do this and that. As we worked together I began to realize just how fortunate I was. He knew exactly how to calm me down, how to communicate with the other side, he knew exactly what to do. He knows the law, what is the right thing to do and all along I knew that his most important focus was the best outcome for me and absolutely, definitely not building billable hours. I have developed such respect and appreciation for this man and I am so grateful for finding him. I am not much for writing reviews but if you are in the position of needing a family lawyer I would definitely say that he is in my opinion absolutely the best. During a divorce one stands to lose much with the wrong lawyer and to end up with an astronomical legal fee on top of the losses is not something that one recovers from.
