Ramar Jaradat, an estate planning associate at Cassday and Company in McLean VA, did a fantastic job for us:, making us clear on what we need to do to protect our assets from unnecessary taxes, as well as from any potential, even though unlikely, claims against our estate that were not in our wishes. I am not quite ready to say that estate planning is fun, but Ramar Jaradat, made it as pleasant and as informative as possible.

IV League Professor or a lawyer? Bob Weed is like a great professor who practices what he teaches. They say that successful realtors live and breathe real estate every day and Mr. weed is no different. He lives and breathes bankruptcy law. This is the first time that I have gone though the bankruptcy process and I really hope it would be the last one. Mr Weed has established a solid, stellar reputation as an exceptional lawyer. From my search when I was trying to find a lawyer, I came to know that he was well regarded by his clients and peers in the same same industry. He could be representing someone's dad or a son, or even a grandmother. If you have a family or friends in DMV area, who have been through bankruptcy process, the chances are that they have heard about Bob Weed or been helped by him. I had consultations with few of the very well known lawyers in the DC metro area. Since my case was a bit more complicated as I had to go through means test, not every lawyer would be up for that challenge. Another well known lawyer refused my case after initial our consultation because of the household income being higher than what would normally qualify you for bankruptcy. One thing that stood out about Mr Weed was his attention to minor details and I felt like if I was in front of a competent doctor trying to diagnose some mysterious illness. I had to go through a questionnaires and then, what Mr. Weed referred to as 'home work', after our initial consultation before he decided to take my case. I felt like I was back in school. I strongly feel that no matter what the circumstances, Mr. Weed will find a way to help you or advise you about the right time to move ahead with the bankruptcy process. In my case, the homework was for me to get all the facts and figures together about our household finances, including, expenses. Those would be the things that many people, especially, the ones considering bankruptcy, don't pay attention to or are totally unaware of. What an eye opener that was. Mr. weed is an excellent teacher that has a website full of resources with all the relevant information about the bankruptcy process and hundreds of valuable blog posts. I found our video consultations much easier option than having to go to a lawyer's office. He shared his wisdom, asked important questions and then after he took my case did his magic to make the whole process painless. One of the things that I found fascinating was the fact the he knows exactly what a creditor(each bank) is thinking, what to expect from each trustee, what to do or not do before and after your 341 meeting. He keeps himself updated on the new bankruptcy laws/rules and how it affects his clients. My 341 meeting went like a pleasant breeze. I am in my 60 day waiting period before I receive a formal discharge. Mr Weed has decades of experience in the bankruptcy industry and amazingly, has the energy of very young, ambitious lawyer. I hope I don't need Mr. weed services in the future but if I do or someone else that I know does, I would not even think about another attorney and will recommend him with full confidence without any hesitation.

I came to Mr. Bush in 2019 with a child custody/support case, with Covid things got pushed back many times over the last 2 years. Even through the difficult time he always maintained communication and always was easy to get a hold of anytime I had an issue or questions. He was able to help me so much and fought for me. My family and I were very pleased with how Mr. Kurtin handled everything in our case (not guilty on a literal made up charge, and malicious prosecution). Our court/justice system, is not what we are led to believe, and without people like Mr. Kurtin, real attorneys, that will push back, enforce protocols, and the law as it is written and legislated, none of us have a chance at real defense against the corrupt among us. Mr. Kurtin genuinely cares about his clients, he cares about the integrity of the system, but is not ignorant to its shortcomings and corruption. You want an attorney like Mr. Kurtin, one who does not care what the opposition "thinks" its plan is. That kind of confidence is rare today. He knows the law, and this virtue of actually fighting for the client, as well as having contingency plans in place, is sorely lacking today, replaced by numbers. Mrs. Coltrain and her assistant were very professional, punctual, and easy to work with from my initial call until my court appearance for reckless driving. She gave me some things to do prior to the court date which the judge appeared to consider in my favor. In the end, the outcome was exactly what I hoped for: reduced to a speeding ticket for 9 mph over. Certainly better than the misdemeanor I was facing for 28 mph over. At the end of the day, the easy answer is to follow the speed limit, but if you find yourself trying to navigate the legal system because you made a stupid mistake, I would highly recommend hiring Mrs. Coltrain to represent you.

Ms. Kim saved the day. My divorce process spanned more than 2 years and was highly contested. I was awarded a permanent protective order by Fairfax County and then had to continue to battle my ex to save my pension and retirement- as well as my cash and house where I was living with our son. My original attorney did well in some areas but she failed to properly document how I intended to pay my ex his share of equity in the home as well as a portion my retirement. She also wrote the divorce settlement agreement in such a way as to leave the manner in which I would pay my ex completely ambiguous - there was no mention of “cash” or “paid from x account.” Therefore, the agreement I signed I believed was what I agreed to pay and how I intended to pay. Once everything was signed, I believed my attorney was transferring the amount from my retirement into an account in my ex’s name. I went on a vacation to the Bay Islands of Central America to celebrate the end of my divorce. While on a Honduran beach, I learned that my attorney had not initiated that process yet and accused me of lying, claiming I had told her I would be taking out a loan for over $100,000.00 to pay my ex in cash. There was no written correspondence between my attorney and I where I ever agreed to such a stupid solution. It was 2023, a year of extreme tightening by the FED with high interest rates. Why would I have ever agreed to essentially take out a second mortgage at an average 7% interest rate when I had the money sitting in my retirement? I instructed my attorney to explain the miscommunication to my ex’s attorney and to start the retirement benefits division immediately. For over two weeks, my attorney did not do what I asked. She insulted me. She accused me of lying. She attempted to coerce me to give my ex all the cash I had as a way to meet the impending deadline that would be missed. She claimed a judge might force me to pay in cash even though the property settlement agreement that I signed never mentioned cash. She thought she could strong-arm me into doing something terrible to my finances to avoid her having to admit she made mistakes in documentation. Rather than give in, I used my smartphone from the third world country I was in, and consulted with Legal Aid resources. This legal resource is phenomenal. From there, I found Ms. Kim. I told her my predicament and she agreed to take my case while I was miles away and in distress. Ms. Kim found a way for my to keep my house, keep all of my cash, and avoid a “show cause” complaint for missing the payment deadline so that I could pay the way I had always intended (out of my retirement account). She also charged me a very reasonable fee to solve everything- which was roughly $2,000 whereas my previous attorney had told me I would have to pay $6,000 or more and would have to go to court. I highly recommend Ms. Kim. She is efficient, a true advocate, and comes at a very reasonable price.
