Never had the chance to hire Chance Smith and after talking to him once, he's permanently removed from my contact list. I'm one of those lead-foot guys and have been since I turned 16, unfortunately. I've used attorneys ad nauseam over the years. It's an annual occurrence. I began using James Mallory for Tarrant County tickets, moved over to Jim Lollar, who represented me for many years, and now use Justin Holt, who took over Lollar's book of business upon Lollar's retirement.
Couldn't be happier with Holt and formerly Lollar. The reason I reached out to Chance is because I have a Dallas County ticket and my attorneys don't handle Dallas County business. Chance apparently does, or at least to some degree.
I've planned to hire Chance for a couple of months but never have the ticket with me when I plan to call. Finally, when it dawned on me the other day that this ticket is still outstanding, I reached out to Chance even though I still did not have the ticket at hand.
He essentially said he wouldn't help me unless I produced the ticket, incredulously claiming "there's too many courts in Dallas and I'm not going to research for free." Hmm, interesting approach employed dealing with a potential client. Had he been more diplomatic about his refusal, I'd likely still have hired him, but since the rationale was unprofessional and not something you say to a client or customer, whether true or not, his judgement is called into question.
What makes this even more of a head scratcher is that I didn't call him to have him perform free research. I would have hired him on the spot, paid him via CC, and then allowed him to do his due diligence. Afterall, it is his profession, though he'd rather assign the difficult work to his clients. I don't expect anyone to do anything for free for me. I just wanted to hire the guy, but not only did he reveal his lack of judgement, but his logical reasoning was tremendously flawed too. Not a good combination for someone in his profession.
If the job is easy, he'll do it. If the job isn't easy, he'll refuse it.
What he failed to realize is that I'm a professional researcher. I own my own consulting firm. I often have to perform research for free in order to get an engagement executed and started. In fact, I'd spent about 3 hours the very morning I called Chance in doing due diligence (free research) for a proposal I was putting together. Just part of it...
He tried to make amends when concluding the call, saying "but if you find the ticket, give us a call and we'll be glad to help."
Uh, yea, right. Ok. I'll jump right on that.

Chase personal delt with me. Im a CDL Class A license holder who received a 72 in a 50mph speeding ticket in my personal vehicle. Chase explained all the known possible out comes for my violation. Charged me a nominal fee and assured me he would take care of it , without me ever having to go to court. And the only other possible charge would be an court cost of around $300. Well Chase found a technical error and had the whole thing dimissed, like it never happened with no court fees. I'm very grateful that he actually cares about his clients because he could have just went ahead how we discussed and left me with a $300.court cost, he was not gonna make anymore money either way it went. But thanks to his willingness to be through , I am able to maintain my great driving record!
Chase and his staff are VERY Professional but at the same time Very personable. And at a Very Affordable price. Who could ask for more. I definitely recommend J. Chase Smith, he understands the importance of a good driving record for A CDL holder.

bad lawyer she wouldnt check my moms papers well nd throughly and would get bothered because she corrected her for a mistake that she had made on her case , she also dropped my moms case without explanation or anything, every time my mom wanted to have a face to face conversation with her she would deny it, my mom also knows people who have had the same experience that she has experienced. She only likes easy cases she also did not want to give my mom back her papers that she needs, her assistant wasnt a good one either

This Olu lawyer is a clown, My parents hired him in 2012 he supposedly fought to remove a voluntary departure and he didn't. He knew first hand that my step dad wasn't able to stay he had the documentations strait from imagination them selfs stating he couldn't stay. He lied to them only to keep collecting their money! I'm angry and someone needs to go after him because he has ruined my family's life's. Do yourself a favor and don't hire this idiot!!!

Patino was so completely out-matched by my ex's attorney. She was unprepared and did not do anything to defend me from ridiculous accusations. She caused my children to be removed from me for 6 months now and I am the ONLY biological parent. I have not done ANYTHING wrong and there are absolutely NO GROUNDS for my children being taken against my will. They were given to my ex, a non-relative of the children, after the ex filed a protective order against me and abducted my children from my home. All based on lies! The ONLY explanation for this from patino was "she filed first, she has upper hand." She quit 3 times because I questioned her. It's sad, the irreparable damage that has been done to my children.

I cannot explain the miracles Erika worked for me! She was thrown into a contested custody battle with only the notice I had when I was served. Before I even met face to face with her to hire her she had pages of research done on my case. She didn't even know if she would be my attorney and she devoted her time to me. She provided information to me not knowing she would be defending my daughters and me.
She not only had the contested custody to battle, she had out of state orders to transfer, 2 different counties to work through here in TX, back child support and an affidavit to contest.
She was very detailed in what she was going to need from me and made sure to study and document everything I provided her. She answered my questions day and night, in the middle of heated contention between my ex and me, even when she was with her family. She always followed up the very next morning. She was thrown more curveballs than anyone could have expected before, during and after both of our hearings.
She went out of her way to find me doctors, documents and anything else I needed before, during and after everything. No matter how hard my ex tried to break her/us, she didn't budge.
She made sure I came out victorious with added benefits in the end. She actually chased my ex and his "new family" out of Texas! She will fight until the end and keep fighting thereafter!
She put her heart into what I felt was an end to all means. She "adopted" us and genuinely cared about us... Still does.
If you need the best of the best, someone who genuinely cares and will work with you and for you, you need not look any further. Erika Patino is the answer.
She's so incredible I have added her to my Christmas list and that's a hard list to make!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Shelton Mead and Shelton. Their policy of charging $25 just to view my tax return is unreasonable, especially considering I never received a digital copy in the first place. Additionally, the mismanagement of staff is evident, as they have recently let go of long-time accountants who provided valuable service to loyal customers like myself. It’s disheartening to see such a lack of regard for customer relationships and quality service. I would not recommend this firm based on my experience.

My accountant at this firm is David Eversole, and he is the best! He keeps me on track, and as an added bonus, is very good with Excel spreadsheets! He helps me with all of my business expenses and keeps me coloring "in the lines" as per government requirements. I also have sent several of my clients to David. Great job, David!

I used James to mediate the sale of my grandfather's house. Everything was going smoothly but 3 days before closing we ran into some major problems. It seemed that when my grandmother passed 12 years ago she did not explicitly leave her portion of the estate to my grandfather. James spent 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday the weekend before we were supposed to close to work everything out, including getting several of my grandmother's children to agree to give their portion of the house they owned by law to my grandfather so he could sell it. He went above and beyond what anyone could expect from a lawyer and a person and he genuinely cared about us as his clients. He was also at the actual closing going over documents from the real estate company before we had to sign them to make sure everything was ship shape. We could not have done the process without James in our corner and he did an amazing job. His price was very reasonable, especially considering all the extra work that he did near the end working well until past midnight on the weekend before we closed.
I would definitely recommend Mr. Miller to any of my friends and family. He has earned our trust and loyalty for many years to come.

Unprepared for almost every appearance. Once used his phone to bring up proceeders and statutes. The judge was not impressed, just annoyed. I lost every appearance in family court. Didn’t defend me or my character to the judge. A total waste of my time and money to loose everything to my ex.

Dwain and Jack Downing, and their staff, were wonderful. I hired them to handle probating my father's estate and they walked me through the entire process step-by-step. My case took way longer than it should have. I waited for months with no response. Was told that the 5000$ retainer would cover the case then received another invoice 2 years later that I owed an additional 4200$. For a divorce? Non contested. DO NOT USE HER! THEY ROPE YOU IN WITH LIES AND THEN CHARGE YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD. THEY NEVER RESPOND YOH HAVE TO CALL MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEN THEY CHARGE YOU FOR NOTHING.

If I could give 0 stars I would, this firm does not communicate with you and will take your money. My case has been open for over a year and they keep taking my money. I now wanted to close my case with them and wanted my remaining retainer money back. Every time I tried speaking with my lawyer she ‘was not available’ but when I told the paralegal I want to close the case she put me through to my lawyer right away. However, they still went to pretrial using more of my money and have not given me anything back when they said they would do so.

zero stars. negative if I could. I've been waiting for months to get my paid in full agreement. The lawyer was late on getting me a prenup, then it turned to the postnup and I still dont have the document (over 4months and counting). The balance was paid in full at the beginning. My follow up emails go unanswered. This has been an awful experience and has now made me vulnerable which is exactly what I wanted to prevent. And now I am receiving notices of for payment when I have not been given what I already paid in full for. Absurd. Unprofessional. Scam artist.

I have had several meetings with Donna over the last 7 years. I have always found the staff to be friendly and professional. My emails were adjudicated quickly and phone calls for follow up handled in a very timely manner.
Aside from the expert legal advice, I found Donna to have great wisdom from her years of experience and she gave me guidance which helped me in the long run. I am in an excellent position financially (and emotionally) because I followed her advice.

I've personally worked with Judge Nolen as a member of his court staff employed by Tarrant County although not directly by him- I've also worked with other Judges and I would rate him very highly in the area of patience- If a case needs 3 hours, that's what it needs- He wants to hear everything he needs to hear before making a decision - And he's a nice guy.

This lady took a case for a friend of mine she asked the family for 10 thousand to take up his case, then quit and said she wasn’t helping them anymore she kept the money and gave no explanation as to why she was throwing the case she basically took advantage of them and when they went to ask
For documents and get an explanation why she threw the documents at his mother (whom is an older lady) then called two security guards and kicked them out like they were criminals don’t give this lady your money she will take it and not help you.

I found John to be an excellent attorney who represented my interests and provided superior legal advice after trying another firm who did not. John moved the process along swiftly, cost consciously, and with the expertise that was representative of his years of experience. His compassionate staff was very responsive and we quickly had matters settled. I was seeking legal advice on filing custody for my child. In doing so, I was naturally looking for when and how the best time to pursue this would be. In contacting this firm, I was only allowed to talk to a paralegal who is the front person for the firm. All of my questions were filtered through the paralegal and I did not get any time with one of the attorneys in the firm before actually filing, though I asked for it. After filing and upon my first encounter with Mr Clark, his responses contradicted all of the answers and points given to me by the paralegal in my consultation before I filed. I would not have filed this case if I had been given these same answers during my legal consultation. My contention is that an attorney should give a potential client first hand answers and an assessment of their chances on winning a suit before the client files it. Most attorneys do this.
During the suit, Mr. Clark and the opposing council and court agreed upon non attorney mediation between the parties. I was not instructed or advised on how to proceed or handle myself during the mediation. The mediation yielded an agreement between my child's mother and myself that had given me signifigantly more time with my child. I needed to check on some dates before signing the agreement making it final and legal. But since I left the mediation before I signed the agreement, her attorney negated it. Mr Clark did not advise me on this fact or how the mediation worked so I lost signifigant time with my son and settled for just an upgrade of my parental rights to the current statutes. My contention here is that it is definitely an attorney's duty and obligation to understand and advise his client on how to proceed with any court appointed legal processes that he agrees to submit his client to or the client may suffer losses from it.

Do not use her for family law. She did work with me on payments after a $1500 down payment. She appeared in court twice a total of 3 hours and didn't want to talk to me at all after I lost my first motion. Ignored my emails to appeal then responds 6 weeks later after I had been found in contempt asking for more money to move forward. She talked more about her personal life then mine. In my opinion this attorney ripped me off and did not give me fair due process per her legal oath.

I hired services of Andrea to defend me over Family Violence case. After six months of wait the case was finally dismissed on the very first court hearing without any probation or deferred adjudication. Andrea and Karen (Legal Assistant) both are very helpful and prompt in their communication. Andrea not only helped me chose the right course of action but also provided me the moral support that you need in the times of stress and when you can't think clearly. I would recommend Ms. Kelly 100%. I used her on a divorce/child custody case. She was very informative and answered all my questions. If I could give 0 stars I would, this firm does not communicate with you and will take your money. My case has been open for over a year and they keep taking my money. I now wanted to close my case with them and wanted my remaining retainer money back. Every time I tried speaking with my lawyer she ‘was not available’ but when I told the paralegal I want to close the case she put me through to my lawyer right away. However, they still went to pretrial using more of my money and have not given me anything back when they said they would do so.

zero stars. negative if I could. I've been waiting for months to get my paid in full agreement. The lawyer was late on getting me a prenup, then it turned to the postnup and I still dont have the document (over 4months and counting). The balance was paid in full at the beginning. My follow up emails go unanswered. This has been an awful experience and has now made me vulnerable which is exactly what I wanted to prevent. And now I am receiving notices of for payment when I have not been given what I already paid in full for. Absurd. Unprofessional. Scam artist.

I have had several meetings with Donna over the last 7 years. I have always found the staff to be friendly and professional. My emails were adjudicated quickly and phone calls for follow up handled in a very timely manner.
Aside from the expert legal advice, I found Donna to have great wisdom from her years of experience and she gave me guidance which helped me in the long run. I am in an excellent position financially (and emotionally) because I followed her advice.

This lady took our money and didn’t think twice about it . She knew they type of charges brought against our son and she looked us right in the eyes and said she was experienced in criminal matters such as our sons . Caring, understanding, straight to the point. I had lost custody of my son on Jun 24, 2010 to my son's father. My old attorney did not tell us anything. All he wanted was more money. My husband and I met Ms. Edwards when I was a basket case. She was concern about me. She explained all our options. Rather then charging us a large amount of money she took a really small retainer and let us pay her out in 2 payments. She filed an appeal and a request for a new trial. Mr. Hase represented my son for a possession charge. He had the court date postponed on several occasions, which was a little frustrating to my 18 year old, but the delay was worth it. I don't know much about his legal skills based on my experience, he does not come across as a decent or trustworthy human being. He charged me $900 for a 2 hour consultation and called me then charged me more. I never retained him. I felt like I was giving him my first born. I also felt like I was being manipulated. He was super nice one minute and aggresive/ defensive the next. Also, he doesn't respect your time. I told him I had to leave and he just kept talking! If AVVO removes this review, then I know this individual is paying for a 5-star review. I recommend not to use him. How can you trust that he's going to really fight for you. No free consultation here! There are many options out there in the DFW Area. Please do your research!

I recently had a consultation with Mr. Hurlbut for an ongoing Real Estate case involving my firm. I am European, and therefore I was a bit worried I might not understand U.S. legalities. Mr. Hurlbut's professionalism was impeccable, and I felt that -- besides receiving the necessary help -- I also learned a lot of useful legal information during phone consultations and an extensive face-to-face meeting. His fee was similar to what other attorneys have asked, however I'd assess that I've received much more from communication with him as compared to other consultations I've had. Mr. Hurlbut is above-average experienced, very knowledgeable and insightful; and I was impressed with his clear-cut approach with regards to the options I had for a positive outcome in this case.
