I have known Mark since 2004 and since then I have hired him for everything from contract creation to incorporation to liability waivers and litigation, and he has always done an outstanding job. I've also referred many clients to him and every time he did top-notch work and made me look like a hero to my clients for referring him. As an operations consultant who worked for some law offices I had worked with a lot of corporate attorneys in the past, but since I started working with him Mark is the only attorney I have hired or recommended for corporate work.
Mark has that rare combination of being a brilliant lawyer who speaks plan English. He is able to understand and discuss the legal complexities of a situation at a high level, while still being able to explain complex legal situations in a way that is easily understandable to everyone involved, and I've seen him be comfortable and well received by everyone from corporate executives to blue collar sole proprietors.
I can't say this about many people, but I recommend Mark Land without reservation.

I am writing to recommend Tim Lee for legal work. Tim has been my company’s go-to person for legal matters for over seven years. We have used him to draft, review and negotiate contracts on multiple occasions and have always been pleased with the results. He has handled our trademark and copyright filings and advised us on how to protect the intellectual property we have. Tim has also been very helpful with employment matters. I met Jenny informally at a meeting and immediately liked her as a person. Our introduction was a lucky coincidence as I had just started a business and happened to be seeking legal advice. I was confident that I could easily find a well qualified and talented lawyer, but I wanted more than that. My business is my passion and my life and I wanted somebody that would treat it as such. Jenny stood out in a crowd of professionals as she was friendly, down to earth, and had a warm, welcoming demeanor. I honestly could not believe she was a lawyer. She is sharp, witty, and extremely intelligent, as many lawyers are, while also being a compassionate, kind human being with a wealth of knowledge and experience, which many lawyers are not. She is an exceptional lawyer and an exceptional person.
Lawyers become lawyers for many reasons, it seems like Jenny is a lawyer because she thoroughly enjoys it. I met Jenny when she was giving a presentation on ip, contracts and business formation at a tech entrepreneurs meetup. The presentation was quite good, and since I'm looking to start my own business, I took note, because I'd been on the lookout for a lawyer I could trust to understand these issues in the context of software development.
As it happens, I ended up landing some contract work, but felt really uncomfortable with the language in it, particularly regarding the ip. As a programmer, this is a really important area for me. Since it was my first time using a lawyer for this kind of thing and it was also a very small contract, I decided to try out oDesk but was pretty dissatisfied with the results.
After wasting a lot time and money, I decided to contact Jenny and to be honest, I'm really glad I did.
At this point, the employer was getting frustrated at how long it was taking to get the contract back to them and I was a bit desperate. I reached out to her, and she got back to me right away. We talked about my situation and concerns about the contract, and she got started immediately, even meeting me on the weekend to handle some paperwork. After a quick turnaround, she walked me through all her changes on the phone, explaining her rationale and patiently explaining points that I didn't understand. Personally I appreciated this, since I always look to increase my understanding on top of getting what I need done.
Since it's in my nature, even though I was having a lawyer look at the document, I did a lot of research on my own regarding software contracts, and what should be in them. Having never done this before, I wanted to be more informed, and I'm glad I did, since it allowed me to gauge that the work done for me off of oDesk was not high quality. That being said, I was feeling pretty skeptical when I hired Jenny, but I couldn't have been more happy with the end result.
She was able to tell me what wasn't standard, what was missing, alter language to make the contract more fair for me and even pointed out certain language that I thought I understood, but I guess in a court of law, does not mean what I think. At the end of it I was quite happy. As unfair as the contract started out, I felt very confident in the end result.
Throughout the whole thing, I felt she understood where I was coming from as a programmer, which was the most important thing to me. I tried to go the cheap route with oDesk and got what I paid for. After going with Jenny, I feel like I got more than I paid for. I'll definitely be going back to her when I need a lawyer in the future.

I had Mrs. Hindera as a court appointed lawyer for a federal case back in 2006. Although I was incarcerated the entire time, she was in full communication with my mother. Everyone with a federal case knows they have a 99.9% conviction rate so really you are just hoping the judge will have mercy on you and give you the best sentence possible according to your rating with any priors. It's a crazy process but I believe she did the best she could do and I only got a 24 month sentence which wasn't anything after already being in there for 9 months. She actually personally knew the prosecutor so I think that helped a little and was able to show the judge who I really was and not the person in the paperwork in front of her. I am very thankful for her treating my family with all respect and making them feel like it would all be ok in the end. She is a good attorney and figured I'd give her a review since I'm seeing no-one else has.

My landlady tried to evict me from my home of 2.5 years. She bought the house at the end of my lease and the purchase was contingent on me signing a year lease with her. Three weeks after she had assumed ownership, she gave me my first notice to vacate. I represented myself in JP court with Mr. Abarca's help. I won. She appealed. I worked with Ms. Richardson on a traffic related matter through her employer, Dorothy Butler Law Firm. I was applying for an occupational driver's license and settling two open tickets which I had, and let me say that Ms. Richardson was very professional and extremely helpful in all aspects of my case. My primary means of communicating my issues was via e-mail, and I don't think that I ever had a letter go without a response. It was really refreshing to have somebody be as helpful over e-mail as Emily was.
My traffic tickets were for a city near Houston Texas, which quite a ways away from where I live in Dallas. As part of the fee I paid, the law firm and Ms. Richardson agreed to go to court in my stead, and I did in fact receive the judgement that I had been told up front I would receive - a very agreeable one! If you have any questions about the law, Dorothy Butler & Ms. Richardson provided an excellent channel of communication and were very knowledgeable about my particular situation and my case. The fee seemed well worth the expense.
In addition to two out-of-city traffic tickets, I had to apply for an occupational drivers license so I might drive at certain times of the day. The law firm provided me a document which I brought to a judge in Dallas, and everything went very smoothly. The judge seemed very appreciative that I had gone through the expense of paying an attorney to handle my case rather than trying to do it myself.
I would reccomend both Ms. Butler & Ms. Richardson for anything regarding the Texas DPS. Make sure you have a working e-mail account!

Absolutely, hands down, the best family lawyer in Austin. Jonathan is passionate yet level-headed, respectful yet brutally capable, and posesses honesty and virtue that demands no second guessing. I had a "friend of a friend" family lawyer at the beginning of my very painful, very messy divorce. Although I had never needed or even knew any lawyers before my divorce, after my first mediation with my initial lawyer, I just felt there was something not right, perhaps a stone left unturned? I went to Jonathan simply for a second opinion of the mediation offer I had before me. After I met with Jonathan Friday, I felt immediately safe and informed.
