When I met Lisa Scott I was going through a very difficult time. I had my own ideas about what I wanted, and had already been to numerous counseling sessions with my ex-wife and knew her radical ideas. I was able to work out a non formal agreement with my ex-wife for only 1 overnight a week, and two evening visits each week. I petitioned for the divorce, my ex-wife wrote a book to the court about what a monster I was, with lies and false allegations. My ex then wanted me to have less time (every other weekend with 1 evening visit a week.
Long story short; With Lisa Scott's aid the court sided with me and immediately gave me a second overnight, and I finally settled out of court on a graduated 50/50 joint shared custody arrangement that I could not be more happy with. My daughter was 10 months old when my ex-wife left. She is now 20 months old and I am so happy with my results. My child support obligation also reflects my time with my daughter, and for that I am also pleased.
Lisa Scott made sure I was in good hands, and helped me protect my rights as a father. She is straight up, passionate about her job, and very knowledgeable.

I did also intend to mention that Attorney Lisa D. Scott is extremely honest in her approach to providing Counsel. She will not "Guild the lily" or make promises she can't deliver, or, immediately ask for a retainer as some others may, but was willing to provide initial guidance on an hourly basis, something of a rarity. She also was very clear about her Ethical position, taking a strong offense to obviously False Accusations made by the other side to "play dirty". She rolled up her sleeves to fight, but only with absolute honestly and an "open book" and "clean hands" policy, being morally superior to "playing dirty". This commitment counters a client's sometimes naturally insulted and emotional urge to "fight back" but then also risk appearing to be seeking retaliation over "Best Interest". If you walk into Court with Lisa by your side, you will know you have an Atty. standing With You, not just next to you. Again, I can not more highly recommend her on a personal level. I you want to fight dirty, go elsewhere. If you want a Capable, Knowledgeable Advocate, this is your Attorney.

I went through an extremely contentious divorce with Rene by my side and thank goodness. I could trust him always to be honest, ethical and to go after our priorities. He is a kind and empathetic human being and also never wavers in his professionalism. My case involved domestic violence which meant added complications and also meant I was even more all over the place emotionally. Rene was always, always a calm, steadying force bringing me back to center, back to integrity and refocusing me on our priorities. Which made it possible for me to advocate as well as I could for myself and my son - if I had not been able to do that it would have been a big regret for me. I imagine that is an accomplishment in most divorces. But when your ex drags you back into court over and over for years it is a major feat - he has the patience of Job. I should also mention we won almost every point, and ultimately accomplished all of our priorities. Not through snarky fighting or misleading arguments or playing on technicalities (which are a horror to experience in court). In court or mediation, Rene is not theatrical or super aggressive, he is confident, reasonable and matter of fact - from what I have witnessed this is very much appreciated by the legal professionals involved. I probably did not have the presence of mind to acknowledge it at the time - but now I feel as good about how we won as I do about winning.
The other thing people always want to know about is cost. It was not cheap, of course, it took a long time and my ex is really good at creating situations I need Rene to handle for me. But Rene has always been more than fair in his charges, accounting for every penny, and never ‘rounding up’ when he could have easily justified it. He is just as ethical in his billing as he is in his practice of law.
Clearly, I recommend him highly. I am trying to remember what I wanted to know before I started this journey. I went to Rene because my cousin (also an attorney) had seen him practice years before and was so impressed she never forgot his name. When I sat down with him he did not say everything was going to go exactly as I wanted nor did he seem resigned to it happening. I don’t like it when people ‘sell’ me by painting a best case scenario only - and there was none of that. He listened very closely and cut straight to the issues that mattered to me and presented options - which is pretty much the definition of a competent attorney. And I remember looking around his office and seeing multiple awards for ethical practice; which in conjunction with my cousin’s recommendation tells me he is well respected in the legal community. Nothing I have experienced in the intervening years has altered that first impression; it has only grown better.

Rhea Rolfe and her whole office are an amazing team of hardworking women. My case went on for several years and everyone there was always responsive, reliable, and encouraging. It was humbling to meet a group of lawyers who behaved ethically and were always looking out for the best interest of the child involved in parenting plan updates, as well as keeping us both safe and escape a domestic violence situation.
Rhea and her team also helped with deescalation when the other party was sending threats to me and their whole office. On several ocassions, both Rhea and Monique Gilson-Moreau waited with me in the courthouse for my case to be called and anyone knows how hard it is to sit through other hearings nervously awaiting your turn. They were both compassionate and caring and help me have hope for the future for me and my child. They also kept me informed of my options and updated on my case at all times and avoided running up my tab by declining to engage further with the other party, who at some point was sending daily non nonsensical emails to their office.
I can't recommend their offices enough. If you are looking for an experienced attorney with integrity who is ready to fight for you without creating unnecessary conflict, look no further. Rhea is an outstanding attorney.

I hired Araceli after my first attorney became a family law commissioner and had to find another attorney for myself. I had dealt with long term emotional and physical abuse and my ex had an ongoing domestic violence case against him. Araceli and team were God sent at a time when I was also dealing with a major health issue and custody issues. They were compassionate and understanding of what I was going through. Araceli listened and understood my point of view when I had concerns. She also was diligent enough to explain some legal aspects of my case. She was honest in explaining outcomes at different stages and that was very important for me. She may not look very aggressive but she is very smart, knows how to negotiate with opposing counsel and extremely hardworking. I would always get a call back the same day and there is always someone on the team available to answer my questions. I always felt I was in safe hands and was satisfied with final outcome.

I can’t recommend Jeannie P. Mucklestone highly enough as a driving offense attorney. About three years ago, I got a speeding ticket, and Jenny was able to get it thrown out of court without anything going on my record. More recently, I received another speeding ticket and a no-blinker violation, and she got both dismissed as well—again, nothing on my driving record.
The best part? I didn’t even have to appear in court for any of these cases. Jenny handled everything for me quickly and efficiently. If you’re looking for an attorney who can get real results with minimal hassle, Jenny is definitely the one to trust! Words can’t explain how amazing she is at her job!!!

Monica was my counsel in a custody/support with a few complications and issues. There were a lot of different ways we could go with things, but I always felt Monica was thoughtful and laid out the possibilities and likely outcomes clearly to me.
Even if we disagreed on a course of action, she was open with me on her feelings and opinions, and even felt comfortable enough to allow me to get a second opinion with no judgement. From that I learned that she has the great respect of her peers, which I found reassuring.

Roxanne is the person you want fighting for you! She went above and beyond for my family with very little help as clients. I've had the pleasure (or displeasure depending on how you look at it) for over 20 years. I had a pretty serious drinking problem and wracked up several DUI's because of it. Howard got me out of two DMV license suspensions for refusing to take a breathalyzer test (which is completely unheard of).On my most recent one, the prosecutor wanted my head on a pike and we were forced to go to trial. We lost (because I was guilty as sin), but not for lack of trying on Howard's part. He worked tirelessly preparing for it, and even shaved his beard off so he would look more presentable to the jury. What attorney does that?! And even though we lost, Howard got me 10 days of work release when the State was asking 200 days in jail. And even then, he apologized because he said he "didn't do his best".
I tell everyone I meet that Mr. Stein is one of the most good-hearted, honest, and honorable men I've ever met, and I mean that.

I had a disappointing experience with Cara Starr as a lawyer. Unfortunately, I found that she lacked empathy and did not demonstrate strong customer relations skills to build trust. Throughout our interactions, she did not seem to listen to my concerns with a helpful or understanding attitude, which made the process more frustrating than it needed to be. I believe a lawyer should be both knowledgeable and compassionate, but sadly, I did not find these qualities in her approach.

By far the worst legal experience imaginable. If you are ever assigned them as a public defender do everything in your power to not have Mr. Lotskar or Deweirdt involved at any point and honestly I would ask for another law firm all together. These are the public defenders that are way to friendly with the prosecution and seem to advise clients in a way that benefits prosecution. They are extremely dense in terms of understanding what actual life is like for human beings outside of the court room after a decision has been made. They just want to process you and get you off of their books. By far the worst law firm I have ever worked with.
