It's not easy to get a fair settlement from the City of New York, but that's exactly what David did for me when I had an accident on an activity pathway in Central Park that had a "defect" due to maintenance neglect. David gave me excellent advice after my first surgery (I would end up requiring FOUR of them, incurring much loss and suffering!!) and after reviewing some pictures he had encouraged me to take of the accident scene, he took my case. I was very hesitant to sue at first after the accident, and of course at that time, I would not know the immense suffering I would end up going through as a result of this accident, but David knew better, was there for me, and his excellent advice eventually yielded me incredibly needed and deserved funds after everything I went through as a result of the accident, which ended up deeply affecting my life in a negative way for years to come. If it's unbelievable/slash reading something like this paragraph; like: "Oh! Come on...he must be a friend writing a review for him", drop the doubt and attitude; above is my five star opinion of Terrence from experience. Terry is the one to work with for many reasons. He went so beyond the call of being helpful to me versus working to make a buck....I can only say, to this day, that his pursuit was justice. He took me on as a cause (I believe); leaving me with grattitude I will never forget; charged me like he would a close neighbor, and fought the baloney I was having slung at me for 2 years. It was hellfully stressful. I now, do remember his other motive: eliminate the need to file bankruptcy - which he did; I was being sued for $6 million then. Terry concluded work with me 7 years ago approximately. But I had never actually met him face to face. Today, by the strangest coincidence I saw his name on a Bronx office door only because I went to the 'wrong' door, for where I wanted to be going into. For 2 years or a little more, Terry and I worked on the phone and through the mail together. Today; 7 years later I met him for the first time, shook his hand, and thanked him again; he was just leaving work for the day. He even remembered my name immediately, when he answered the intercom. I found Jason through a friend who went to school with him at Brown. i was first a bit skeptical because he called him self a "concierge" lawyer which meant he came to me or did most of the work over the phone or via email. I gave him a chance and Jason worked so hard for me. He was available night and day whenever i needed. His price was reasonable and he was willing to work with me. Bill was recommended to me by my financial lawyer to advise me legally regarding my drawn out divorce. He has literally been the most supportive, available, reliable and knowledgeable resource during this very draining process. Divorce is already messy, but with Bill's help I was advocated for effectively and aggressively. He accepted my calls and personally went out of his way to represent me, even discussing legalities outside office hours when it was the only time available. He would go over paperwork with me on the phone and made sure I was covered in the final agreement drafted by the mediator. I cannot recommend him enough. Esp to single women. His prices are more than reasonable for the care and experience he has and gives. There are A LOT of lawyers who take advantage of women in the frail emotional state of their divorces and charge them exorbitant hourly fees for hardly any real advocacy or work done on their part. Esp in NYC. So do your research and keep your lawyer on a tight leash if you decide to not go with Bill. Every time you talk to your lawyer, keep track of the length of phone calls, meetings and keep a paper trail. That way, when it comes to final invoicing, you've got all the documentation to show how much he/she should be charging. I was overcharged by one such lawyer and wrote a review about him on Yelp. Keep costs up front and talked about each time you speak with your lawyer. It's not personal, it's business. You have to think of it as a game of chess, and leave your emotions at the door. Lawyers are not therapists so don't get your time with them confused with talking about anything other than legalities and your case. I truly hope you hire Bill though because he is absolutely a gem in the midst of a lot of greedy Wall Street wolves. Good luck and stay smart ladies. I know how tough divorce is, so keep your support system strong cuz you cannot do it on your own. Bill will be in your corner the whole time and keep putting those boxing gloves on you each time until you get the best settlement possible. A paralegal friend of mine told me, "Lacey, you will not get the settlement you want. No one gets the exact settlement they want. But you can walk away with the best one, and when it's drafted, take it".
