Rachel made sure she understood what my goals for the outcome was when negotiating a plea deal and made sure that we got it. She also made sure that I was adequately prepped before each session and made sure I didn’t have any questions after we were done. I didn’t have a lot of expectations going in because she was a court appointed defender, but I pleasantly surprised and she did an awesome job.

Dennis Shimmell is knowledgeable and fights for his clients with a fierce passion. He offers great advice and is respectful without being fake. He helped me regain custody of my children and increase received child support. I will say that oftentimes judge’s dockets are busy and because of mandatory legal wait times, your case can’t be resolved right away. However, Attorney Shimmell will continue to work on your case and push to get it resolved in a timely manner. He is professional and abides by the legal ethical codes and therefore will not advise the opposing party. In my experience he does work with the opposing counsel well to help reach a fair resolution, if possible. I will always go back to Shimmell Law Offices for any of my legal needs.

Josh met with me in regards to my divorce and was very compassionate and understanding. He always had mine and my sons best interest in mind. The divorce was complete in 6 months and he was with me every step of the way, making sure I understood everything that was happening. Afterwards he did estate planning for me to ensure I would have no worries about my sons well-being should something happen to me. Mr. Tanis helped me with setting up my estate plan and trust for my children. He was very helpful and thorough during the entire process. He made sure that everything was spelled out carefully in order that it could be implemented smoothly when it is needed. He included many things that I would have not thought of. I had delayed in having my estate plan done because I thought it was going to be very complicated. He made it easy for me, beginning to end. This was the second time I have worked with him. He did a partnership agreement for me last year for my business. He did a great job with that and with this estate plan.

A few friends i have gave me his info because he works in my area and wins cases that most just plea out. well dressed down to earth guy, he is realistic and knowledgeable, and will give you a straight answer. Jeff Kortes put some extra work in convincing the assistant DA to get my case dismissed. A few months ago I was charged with felony child abuse in a matter involving my son. I didn’t like the prospect of going to trial, and pleading to a reduced charge would have some bad consequences. I understand that most cases are settled during the 1st court appearance however we had to do some extra work to get a dismissal.
Jeff always replied to my emails the same or next day and I liked that he usually answers his phone, unlike most lawyers. He also asked the judge to modify bond conditions and allow me travel out of state.
Overall Jeff is a very professional, understanding and experienced attorney.

Jeff and his team did a great job managing my case. This was the worst thing to ever happen to me, but he and his staff helped me navigate this troublesome time. They kept me in the loop on what was happening with my case in the court and answered the many questions that I had for them. Mr. Kortes was sensitive to my work schedule and often gave his time for consultation after normal work hours. Communication between him and his office was always prompt. Most of all, he is extremely knowledgeable with these types of cases. After the incident, he asked specific and pointed questions to help improve the outcome. I hired Mr. Kortes in August 2015 to represent my son, a college student, for a probation violation for 2 misdemeanors from 2014. My son organizationally challenged, absent minded and struggles with attention (all diagnosed), and missed a recent probation appointment. As this was not his first, he was facing jail time for the remainder of his probation.
Knowing that my son was truly trying to get his life in order, we wanted representation for a probation violation (PV) hearing, which I believe is not the norm. My son’s original lawyer was not available. Mr. Kortes, with the assistance of his partner, Jerry Lykins, stepped up to bat the day before the hearing. Mr. Kortes was able to successfully represent my son by highlighting the progress he has made in the last 6 months, his diagnosed condition and the support system in place to help him stay on right track. The hard work is now up to my son to comply with all aspects of his probation before another review next year. Mr. Kortes paved the way to an outcome that I am told was truly unprecedented.

Amanda did an excellent job defending me against a bogus domestic violence charge, which I stood my ground on and refused to plead to. She singlehandedly debunked the testimony of 4 witnesses and brought out the truth of the case in front of a jury. Yes this case went all the way to a jury trial that lasted 12 hours, and thanks to her confidence and determination, I was rendered a verdict of not guilty.

I have never experienced more prompt, professional and caring legal help than I did with Catherine Sullivan. I was also surprised that her fees were so reasonable, and she did not bill me with added hours/expenses. Erica helped me with two custody disputes in 3 years. While the process was extremely stressful for me, I felt better knowing Erica was handling it for me again. She is knowledgeable, sensible, and extremely competent. I never had to wonder what was happening with my case. Pavol far exceeded my expectations. Although felony charges had been brought up against me, Pavol encouraged me to decline several initial deals that were offered to me. He was prepared and ready to go to trial in my best interest, as these charges would have ruined my career and threaten my livelihood. Although this area of law was less familiar to him, he spent the time to learn the specifics and focused on areas that would weaken a case against me. He doggedly attacked testimony of a state trooper that led him to admit that I was unlawfully detained. The trooper later admitted that he too was impressed with Pavol’s pretrial performance. Ultimately, all charges were dropped as a result of Pavol’s determination and rigor. I would 100% recommend this lawyer to anyone. He is worth every penny. I couldn’t be happier.

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a challenging year. This has been especially true for me as I lost my job in March and dug myself into a whole that was impossible to get out of with my rent. David from Edward and Alan law went above and beyond to help me. I was in the process of getting evicted and was so lost on what to do , he went out of his way to send me organizations for funding , personally contacted these organizations to help me and managed to help me get all of the money I needed to cover my rent and avoid eviction. He did this all without receiving any payment from me . David from Edward and Alan law had no obligation to help me, but he did more than that. SO, so glad I consulted with Ralph during my decision to file bankruptcy or not. His knowledge of bankruptcy law is superior. He answered multiple questions thoroughly and made sure I understood my options and the possible outcomes. I filed chapter 13 just over 4 years ago and very glad that I did. Ralph has been there to represent me through all the issue during my bankruptcy, which have been several due to my unique circumstances. He promptly responds to phone calls and emails with answers and resolutions to issues that need to be addressed. When I first met Jim I was facing a Domestic Assault charge out of Grandville Michigan. Quickly he went to work gathering information and staying in constant contact in order to dig at the case. My case was a change of domicile. I received a great career offer that I didn’t want to turn down but unfortunately my child’s father was not on board with my decision. So I called 7 different attorneys even attorneys that I used in the past. Every lawyer I spoke to asked for a retainer fee upfront without even hearing my case out. But not James we talked on the phone for one hour he never even mentioned a retainer fee I had to ask that question. I explained to him that with me moving out of state and affording a lawyer was very difficult. James came up with 3 payment options that I could choose from I was really shocked and grateful especially from my experience with the previous lawyer’s. Regarding my case James was available anytime I called he would get back with me within an hour time frame email or telephone during business hours.
