After David answered my question online, we decided to schedule an appointment with him. He met with us and answered all our questions thoughtfully and intelligently. He is the best lawyer we have worked with in the last five years. He is never condescending and even has a sense of humor. He is exactly the lawyer we needed for this issue.

Thanks to attorney Olivier Reiher, i have been able to settle a fractious legal case. Olivier was able to solve a contentious problem, where the other party was incredibly unreasonable. I would recommend attorney Reiher who is very professional. He understands the nuances of the law. He knows how to read the opposing party. Siker Furniture is grateful to Olivier Reiher.

Ruth Knows her stuff and took the lead in what was a very hostile situation at first. In the first meeting with the Judge she took over the situation and wrote up the whole proposal while the other lawyer just kind of stood there and watched. I was very emotional and she kept me focused. fortunately I am in the process of reconciling but I know if I had to go the distance it would be with Ruth!!!

We recently had to terminate a partner at work after he was aggressive with coworkers. Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of time and the situation got messy quickly. Nilesh saved the day with instantaneous solutions for us to protect our interests, and well thought out options on how to move forward and shield any potential claims against our business. Nilesh's experience is invaluable saving us both time and money if we had attempted to navigate this issue alone.

While working, I was in a major vehicle accident. I contacted Carrie and consulted with her that I wasn't at fault but I was worried that the injuries would leave me unable to go back to my work as a professional driver. I am a single mother with my work as my sole income to take care of my child, pay mortgage and bills. Carrie helped me at so many different levels giving me the peace of mind she had my back and she was going to see me through this with the best outcome possible. I needed someone I could trust because this was my lively hood and I wanted to keep what I worked so hard to get. I was at risk to loose my job and my home! Carrie was right with me all the way informing me what to expect and the best way to go about prioritizing what needed to get done and when to get it done. I was pleased we accomplished what we had set out to do from the beginning. I was able to get back to work, get a settlement and keep my home! I hope I never have to experience this kind of trauma again, but if I do I will contact Carrie again.

Would recommend Gary for handling Family Traffic and Touchy Divorces issues. His years of experience in these cases and his courtroom professionalism pay off. If you need someone that will hold your hand or need an emotional connection, He is not the Lawyer for you. I am not saying he is insensitive, he is preparing you for court. If you need the Job done and with no-nonsense open and shut he is your guy.

I am a former client of Daphne Webb and want to endorse her as an excellent divorce attorney. Her training, skill, knowledge, and experience has made the difference for me and it will make the difference for you too. Her skills far surpasses other attorneys in her field of work, without a doubt. No one can review a situation, sort out the more important facts and act on them as she can. She is sensitive to client’s needs and situations, along with the nature of her field and respects the fact that it is a hard time for most involved. Her processes confirm that sensitivity, proceeding with care and planned results. She isn’t the least expensive attorney, but she is the most affordable with all that she provides her clients and her accomplished results.

I highly recommend this Attorney. I worked with Felice on creating a Will for myself and had a lot of questions about it. She was very patient with all of my questions and explained everything in a way that I could easily understand. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was as I wanted it to be. I definitely trust her with any future legal needs I may have.

Joshua represented me for a small claims case involving an individual who claimed to be a professional auto body repair, but in actuality, literally destroyed my BMW due to his negligence/inexperience. The 3 auto body repair shops I took it to for estimates totalled the car (it would cost more to repair his mistakes then the car was worth ~ upwards of $10K). When other lawyers did not seem interested in taking the case, Joshua took it to heart and made sure I would get some sort of justice. In fact, he did, and I was granted the judgement we had asked for. I would hire Joshua again in a heartbeat.

I am a restructuring consultant and I have worked with Ginger on four matters over about ten years. In every one she has been extremely timely in her communications, detailed and prepared in her legal work, and clear in her verbal communications. She also sees the matter from the client's perspective, so that if it is simply procedural, she explains the why and when; if there are legal strategies to be weighed , she explains the pros and cons to prepare the client to make a decision. She has helped in a unique state of Wisconsin receivership action under which a retail chain was sold for full repayment of the secured; in an out-of-court debt restructuring, which included a forbearance agreement and debt covenant re-set; and a contentious chapter 11 proceeding, where she served as counsel to the Chief Restructuring Officer. Potential litigation in this matter, in particular, was new territory to me, and Ginger's easy and confident style as well as legal-eagle drafting prevented tensions from rising too high. All of the matters were successfully concluded from the client's perspective. I strongly recommend Ginger as a partner for any restructuring, creditor's rights or bankruptcy matter, and I would be delighted to work with her again.

If you're looking for an attorney that shows empathy, will put you at ease, and will not tell you want you want to hear but will tell you the truth or what you need to hear, then look no further. There is nothing better than feeling at ease, knowing that you have an attorney that will take your issues at heart and will go on your behalf. Mr Hough is very analytical. he's great at what he does. He's a people person. I would recommend him highly

I was referred to Brandon via the Lawyer Referral & Information Service of the State Bar of Wisconsin regarding a legal matter which other attorneys seemed reluctant to even talk to me about. We spent about an hour or so discussing my case and he gave me some very good advice. I didn't hire him because he felt that my case was out of his range of expertise, but he did provide me the name of a firm that might be willing to help me rather than just dismissing me or (worse) taking the case and not being able to do a good job for me. I felt he was very compassionate and concerned about my problem, and I appreciated that.

Consistently provides excellent advice and resources. Is extremely knowledgeable and persuasive. Has tremendous network of contacts and great breadth of firm to provide legal services in which he is not expert. Possesses great respect from his colleagues, City staff and elected officials as well as the general public. Constructive criticism: Could delegate a bit more to other attorneys when his plate is full, and it often is.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
