As a surgeon, I appreciate people who just get the job done. Ms. Packard certainly did that for me but in a very compassionate manner. I was terminated without cause after decades of working in the same practice. She fought for me and I thus received a severance package that makes me pleased that they terminated me. She was worth every dime I paid her and was always compassionate when we spoke. She definitely fought harder for me than I would have.

In November of 2008 I retained Tamara Packard to assist me in resolving a dispute with my former employer. From the initial meeting to the signing of the negotiated agreement two months later, Attorney Packard acted dilligently, professionally, and assertively on my behalf to bring about a settlement I was more than pleased with.
My former employer is a small (100 employees) privately-held company. It was reluctant to provide the information necessary to establish a fair settlement. Attorney Packard countered their attorney's every argument against releasing information with her superior knowledge of applicable labor laws.
I completely trusted her advice during the negotiation of a severance package, and I have no doubt that she got me thousands and thousands of dollars more than I could have, on my own.
I was kept fully informed every step of the way and at no time did I feel she was "running the bill". She patiently explained the legal concepts in our strategy and I felt she really was a powerful advocate for me. Mr. Oconner helped me obtain a civil judgement against a store that fraudulently got me to purchase their product that I would not have purchased if I would have known all the ingredients of the product. During the whole time while he was doing all the legal work to obtain this judgment he was very helpful to me by always explaining everything that was happening. He would always answer any and all of my questions either by phone or email right away. Often times doing so after business hours as my job had me working until after 5:00 pm. Mr. Oconner was always very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend him to anybody that may need legal consultation. If a situation ever arises, I won’t hesitate to call him!!!

Mike has done legal work for me both personally and for each of my past three businesses over the last 15 years. He has helped me with employment related issues, purchasing and selling my companies, disputes, as well as general corporate legal work. He has always been there for me through both good times and bad. He is extremely responsive and thorough. He knows not only Wisconsin employment law almost better than anyone, but is also a great litigator/negotiator. His firm has also attracted several like minded individuals with legal skills and experience that compliment Mike's own expertise. In late 2014 I decided, along with two partners, to start a small business developing smartphone applications for Android and Apple devices. My partners and I decided to move from brainstorm to business after we realized we could be making money on our fun side coding projects. We quickly found out that having an idea for a business is much different than actually forming a business.
We approached Mike with questions on what it takes to form an LLC in Wisconsin. Mike was generous with his time, knowledge and advice. We found out we needed much more than the simple LLC documents. Over the course of a number of meetings, Mike and his knowledgeable and qualified attorneys walked us through all of the legal considerations involved in starting a business with partners.
Mike’s firm drafted our Operating Agreement, LLC paperwork and anything else that was involved with making our business official. Mike was available to answer any questions we had during the process and continues to be there for counsel during our opening months.
In our first year of business, we have found ourselves coming back to Mike again and again for advice on matters we would have never thought we would’ve needed an attorney for. Anything from contract drafting and negotiation to advice on how to handle our competition; Mike and the lawyers at his firm have been available and indispensable.

Jessa is amazing. My family called her office when I caught my last case, and she was willing to come and visit me in the jail. I was accused of multiple charges, distribution, a shooting, and also facing revocation for violating my probation. Jessa fought for me the entire way, including my trial, where I was found NOT GUILTY! My revocation was dropped for an ATR of time served and now I'm back in the world where I belong. I worked with John on a case where I had loaned money to an elderly couple in what was represented to me as a family real estate venture--- involving the couples two adult children. Due to much feuding in the family and then the deaths of the parents this litigation ran on for years. The surviving children did everything they could to try and avoid repaying me. I worked with John for 5 years. I ultimately have collected on the judgement in my favor. It was a pleasure to work with John. He did an excellent job for me. Definitely 5 Stars!!

John Starkweather handled my case aggressively and was very professional. John did not play games or allow opposing attorneys to draw us into long drawn out games or arguments that had no merit. The opponent had several law firms including several attorneys who all came up with creative and at times bizarre arguments and attempts to drag the case out for at least a year before we could continue with the subject matter. John was quick to respond to the games that some attorneys play. John would be specific in his motions as to the real subject matter and try to keep the court/judge informed or in the direction of the merits of the case. John would quickly argue against the ridiculous arguments of the other attorneys, he would stay on track of the merits of the case we were arguing. John’s investigation was thorough prior to proceeding in the direction that would lead us to winning the case.
At one phone hearing with the judge, one attorney stated that Mr. Starkweather has 15 days to respond to an answer filed by opposing attorneys just the day before the hearing. Mr. Starkweather stated that the response had already been filed that morning and should be on the judge’s desk and sent to all opposing attorneys including their emails inbox. The other attorney’s only response was “you’re fast”. The judge then set the next hearing date for the following week. John e-mailed me the response and I was reviewing it around 11PM the night before, based on how fast he sent me the final draft I knew he wanted to file it first thing in the morning without john even telling me. Prior to filing motions or answers with the court, John would almost always send me an e-mail copy for review prior to filing. The only exception was when an opposing attorney filed something that was so off base or ridiculous, in that instance he immediately responded to the court and copied me after the fact which I believe was the appropriate thing to do. The only thing that slowed the case down was the required waiting time we had to give the opposing attorneys to do their filings. Johns filings were quick and thorough and at times the same day as we received an answer or motion.
When it came to presenting the facts of the case, John was well prepared and brought the factual issues to the table in a way that opposing counsel could not argue at the same facts but had to try to argue a type of common law argument. John avoided going down their road of arguments and stuck with the facts of our case. John did a great job and in the end we didn’t even have to have a trial which I was comfortable with John handling. The defendant agreed to release a lien he had on my property and I didn’t pay him anything. This was my goal from the start, I would call that a win!

I was referred to Attorney David Makovec in December 2014, because I needed help to draft up and file a QDRO after my divorce. His prices are very reasonable, he is very knowledgeable at what he does, and he is friendly and he made me feel at ease and no worries at our first meeting. If you have plenty of time for things to work out, Hazelbaker is a fantastic attorney!! Very smart, very knowledgeable, very interested in both your interests and doing things right. And frankly, for most legal cases, the best way to proceed is unrushed. He's not billing you for time passed. But the passage of time softens the stubbornness of your opponent, makes them more reasonable, and allows more relevant facts to come to the surface and sort themselves out. So he does not rush things through. If you are not in a huge hurry (like you have a year or more) you'll get great service, a much better outcome, and pay a very reasonable price!!
Plus, he's a super-nice guy, easy to talk to, knows your case, knows the law, explains everything to you, honors your wishes, and is willing to go to the matt for you.

I had a legal sitution that festered for over five years. Complicating the matter was that I received a judgement in another state and my opponent sought to evade payment in Wisconsin. This mattered little to Mr. Thill. He quickly registered our judgement in Wisconsin and began proceedings. What impressed me the most was that Mr. Thill kept at it no matter what my opponent attempted, tried, or said. I had recently had an unfortunate matter involving property and family. Sadly the situation could not be resloved without the need for legal intervention.
