Short version:
***When working/talking with attorney John McNeil there was never any issue with feeling judged or discouraged. There was always timely communication, meetings, new information, and follow up’s post court dates. He responded to my questions and presented all information, leaving me without questions or concerns related to his knowledge and attention to each case.
I would highly recommend this office and their services.
Longer version:
Hiring a lawyer for someone when you’ve never been in any trouble yourself is daunting to say the least. Will the attorney judge the situation, client, myself? Will they take advantage of my ignorance and inexperience? How will I know if they are actually good or just like a ‘car salesman’?
The client had a very complex case with two current cases in Shelby county, a hold in MS, and then later complicated by a new hold and transfer for federal charges.
This wouldn’t be a 100% honest review if I didn’t admit it took a couple days to originally hear back from the office (I recommend using their online inquiry instead of calling, it seems the electronic paper trail works best); but in those couple of days calling around to many other attorneys some referred me back to this office while others seemed to be judgmental and discouraging (maybe trying to make me feel desperate for their services).

I hired Ms. Walls for help with opposing a relocation. She was very pleasant to work with throughout. She responded to any communication I sent very promptly. My case was just finalized yesterday Dec.5,2018. It was custody based. Anyway, Mrs. Walls truly fulfilled every promise advertised and more. She was available when I needed and I know I was probably very worrisome at times she but remained a comfortable level of professionalism. Just to be clear, she wasn't overly professional or just telling what I want to hear either. Her knowledge of the law was motivation for me to read and get my own understanding. Throughout the process, Mrs. Walls continuously reassured me as well as helped me maintain a level head when I doubted myself. She was very thorough but made sure I understood both pros and cons of my situation with a consistent reminder of the most important factors in the case which where the best interest for the children. From the time I came across her page I never doubted her. My daughter was involved in a two-car head on collision accident. After the initial scare about her health, I was not too concerned about the legal aspects until I found out that the other driver's family was planning to sue even though the police report supported that the other driver was at fault. I decided that we needed a good lawyer on our side. My friend recommended Steve Black who represented her in a divorce settlement and I thought that he could recommend a personal injury lawyer. It turns out that Steve has done a lot of personal injury cases but does not advertise this component of his expertise. He was very impressive during our first interview, asking pertinent questions, providing thoughtful analysis of the circumstances, and recommending various plans of actions. I hired him on the spot even after he recommended talking to other lawyers before making a decision (a big plus for hiring in my mind). We have been extremely happy with his thorough preparation, accurate predictions of the likely responses and ultimate outcomes of the participants, amazing patience (my daughter is not well organized), and the successful conclusion of our case - maximum settlement in our favor. I give my strongest recommendation for hiring Steve Black in a personal injury case.

I hired Steve for my complicated, post divorce matter that has persisted for years. Steve is highly intelligent, and while I had been previously represented, Steve is the only attorney that was able to discover my ex husband's true income which was exponentially more than claimed. Steve is extremely detail oriented and will get to the truth. He also doesn't look for ways to overbill his clients, he is fair. He kept my emotions in check and remained strategic. My only regret is I didn't know about Steve and hire him from the start!

A merchant I tried doing business with in Tennessee refused to return a down payment on a dump truck that I decided not to purchase after a detailed inspection. Mr. Sanders was very throural in understanding the matter before accepting the case. He was able to get 75 percent of our money back without going through a lengthy and expensive litigation. We are from out of state and was very concerned with finding a ligitimate lawyer. Mr. Sanders answered every text and returned every call within the same day they were made. We wish him all the best.

We found ourselves in a somewhat embarassing position last year when our 19 year daughter was arrested for shoplifting. We were referred to Mr. Kim through a friend and contacted him for his help. Since she had never been arrested before he was able to work with the prosecutor and allow her to attend anti-theft classes which enabled her to have this minor charge expunged from her record. Without this expungement, she would not have been able to get the job she had been wanting for some time. Mr. Kim helped to ease our fears through this whole process and without his help, she might have been held back in life. Even though this was a minor charge, it was a big deal to our family and we can't thank Mr. Kim enough.

Mr Sauer has to be the most knowledgeable and professional Attorneys out there.
Mr Sauer helped my husband gain his citizenship, and also helped me obtain my green card. His helpfulness, genuine care, and determination is what got me and my husband where we are today.

I was blindsided being served by my longtime landlord, who called me friend. He had often bragged about his great joy in evicting tenants, but we always paid on time and were his "favorites". After a 4 year relationship he served me and my partner. Expecting the worse & not knowing where to procure an attorney specializing in landlord-tenant matters, Mr. Segraves was suggested as a highly skilled attorney in such concerns. I contacted his office & his kind and compassionate staff offered me a appointment surprisingly fast. Although busy with his other specialties, he sat down with us, reviewed our evidence, asked pertinent questions specific to our case & pending court date. Having served as a temp. in a landlord-attorney practice (in a different state) many years ago & not familiar with Tennessee Law, I had no idea what to expect. Mr. Segraves answered all of our questions & told us what to expect, based on his knowledge & expertise. Always on time, he appeared in court, acknowledged us and the hearing proceeded. With his kind manner, he stood with us and stated our case. He was logical, professional & "matter of fact." The outcome was a ruling in our favor. I (and my partner) are most grateful. Was recently charged with a domestic assault charge, that should have never happened. Patrick went to court with me and was amazing to watch in action in the courtroom. The review I'm giving is NOT paid advertising. I am freely giving this review based on our experience. On 7/22/2021 my son was arrested and charged with a felony. My heart broke in a million pieces. I knew my child didn't commit the crime. But I also knew that regardless my son would still have to go through the process. After a few text messages, I knew that Mr. Brandon Hall would do his best to help my son. I explained the situation to the best of my knowledge. I told Mr. Brandon Hall that sometime my son makes bad decision. But I knew that this decision was different from any other bad decisions he had made in the past. Mr. Brandon Hall texted me back in a few days and told me that he would be happy to help my son. "PARENTS" a load was lifted off my shoulders instantly. Mr. Hall has never meet me but I'm guessing he is a parent himself. I'm not sure but I believe Mr. Hall could feel my pain through our text messages. Mr. Hall texted me from his home several times. " I thought to myself this has to be an outstanding lawyer" .. Who texts their clients parent in the comfort of their home. I tell you who " MR. Suzanne and her team were wonderful. If you need an attorney you need to contact her. The response to my questions or concerns were always quick. Since I've never gone through something like this before it's exactly what I needed. I didn't want to sit and wait for answers. There was so much to deal with Suzanne and her team were on top of everything. She would let me know if she was going to be out of town but that didn't slow down her replying to my emails. Just outstanding service and respect from the entire staff. She was also a calming influence when the other attorney was slow to move things forward. She could tell I was getting anxious. Suzanne and her firm quickly become like family. They do their best to keep fees down (she's not a magician, and it can be expensive, but that depends on how the opposing team acts and how much work you're willing to do on your own, how organized you are-and how well you LISTEN). She'll be upfront and honest about what can happen, even if it's not what you want to hear. She won't promise something if she's not certain she can deliver. She and her firm are some of the few attorneys in the Memphis area who understand what to expect and what to do in a domestic violence situation.
My case was both contentious and complicated (involving 2 states), but she took charge after being hired mid-case and worked at warp speed (as far as courts are concerned). I never once set foot in a court room until the final hearing where my divorce was granted. I still consult with her and her associate as things come up, as I still have a little guy to protect.
Landers Firm is the ONLY family law firm in Memphis that I would personally recommend. My only regret was that I didn't find her until after I had already filed.
